Wow! Worked the FIRST DAY I MOUNTED It!
WOW! Iโm shocked! SO easy to install just 2 screws. I had made my Tree swallows a little ladder to help the nestlings fledge and had to move it as you must mount this flat against the door with hole. I can put it back next year. I caught the MALE house sparrow the First night! I got the female tonight. Hopefully now my Tree Swallows & Bluebirds can nest in peace. Sadly they had killed a male TS in a nesting box this week before I got these. Saddest thing to open your box and find a dead TS. It makes me so sad. These came over night and Iโm so happy I got them. I wish Iโd gotten them years ago! The smaller wood holes you mount over the hole donโt work. The sparrow spookers didnโt work for me either. When HOSP are desperate during breeding season nothing seems to stop them but these! I even have a large Repeating sparrow trap they seem to have gotten wise to. Caught a few last year but NONE this year.

Excellent!
This trap very quickly captured two elusive male house sparrows in my yard. We have two bluebird boxes. One had been taken over by house sparrows, who built nests and started laying eggs. I removed their nest and destroying the eggs every two or three days for several weeks, but they just wouldnโt give up. I managed to capture two females simply by sneaking up on the house and covering the opening with my hand and reaching inside to grab them. But the males were much more wary, and I was never able to catch one. They stuck around and kept the bluebirds from nesting even without any female sparrows. So I bought this trap. I cleaned out the sparrow nest from house #1 and set the trap. Within five minutes one of the males had gone inside, I assume to inspect the nest, having seen it tampered with. He was trapped. I actually was not able to catch him, but he has not come back for about four days now. I think he was pretty terrified at the big monster hand grabbing at him. I have seen no more house sparrows at that house now for about four days, which is the longest period I have seen without sparrow activity at that house. As for house number two, bluebirds had built a perfect, beautiful cup nest, but a male house sparrow kept bullying them away from the box. So I carefully removed the nest (because the trap wonโt work with a nest in place) and set it in a cardboard box to preserve its shape. I set the trap. Again, within five minutes, the male house sparrow had gone inside to assess the nest, and he was trapped. I was able to catch him and he was โrelocatedโ, so to speak. I was able to replace the bluebird nest in the box with very little damage as far as I can tell, so hopefully the bluebirds can return home with minimal extra work. This trap has performed perfectly so far, and has done exactly what itโs meant to do. I love that itโs a humane trap so I donโt have to worry about accidentally killing native birds. I also love that it is designed such that you can set mounting screws in multiple houses and use the trap as needed in the house with the problem. I feel that even if you have more than two houses like me, one trap will work effectively. Iโve had no need to leave the trap in one house more than a few minutes, which avoids trapping a bird to die from thirst or starvation. Having trapped two house sparrows, I do think this may be a winning recipe: remove the existing nest, immediately set the trap (takes 5 seconds if you have the mounting screws in place already), walk away and watch for the red spot to appear. For me itโs been 100% effective within about five minutes both times. I hope to see the bluebirds raising young here again within a few weeks. Edit late Aug โ25: rating remains 5 stars. Iโve lost count of the successful house sparrow captures so far, but I think itโs around 6 or 7. Our 2 houses have hosted several successful bluebird broods this spring and summer and no successful house sparrow broods as far as I can tell. This trap has made a critical difference in our yard; we seem able to consistently deny house sparrows fertile shelter while ensuring it for the bluebirds.

Best sparrow trap ever!
This is worth its weight in gold! So easy to set up, two screws, and set it. It comes with the screws, two templates for proper placement. It works very well, and I am completely thrilled with this product.

Trapped male House Sparrow almost immediately!
It was awesome. I trapped the male sparrow that killed three of our baby Bluebirds. Installed trap at dusk, had the murdering sparrow trapped just after first light. I put a clear plastic bag over the trap, partially opened the front door of the birdhouse a bit and had the offender in the bag! Then I slid the trap off the mounting screws and removed it. Our Bluebirds are already building a new nest. Easy to install, you won't need the over-complex instructions if you are at all handy, it was easy.

Brilliant and Effective!
I've been looking at these for a while now in my search to fend off the House Sparrow attacks on the Bluebirds trying to use the Box I put up. This problem has been going on for several years now. Most recently, the sparrows killed a female Bluebird. That was the final straw, and I ordered a new Bluebird box "and" a trap. I have to say that it is a brilliant and effective design! I put it all up late yesterday afternoon. It trapped it's first bird within an hour or two. It wasn't a House Sparrow, (A Carolina Wren instead) but it did so without harming the bird, which was released. Seeing it's effectiveness gives me hope of ridding the area of these Invasive Winged Rats so that the native Bluebirds can make a home and raise a family safely.

Trap
The sides were a bit too wide, but hubby fixed it. Works great

After a while, the birds figure it out and I'm going to modify mine. So the trigger is wider.
5 stars, because it does not harm the bird that you are trying to catch.! The only problem is, once the birds get smart. It doesn't work. They jumped to the side. The wire trigger needs to be wider. I'm going to modify mine. Other than that it is great
