If i use reverse osmosis water to make my espresso do i still need a aquaclean filter?

Somewhere, I read that you should not use RO water in these machines, so without RO water, you would use one of these filters

Not sure. I love my new Philips 3200, but they sure don't make easy finding which filter to use.

How long does this last? I've a gaggia machine and am wondering if the cost is worth it vs. descaling?
