How To Keep Your Feet Looking Soft, Supple and Beautiful With Just 3 Ingredients
There is nothing like bag balm, but it MUST be authentic from Vermont. My podiatrist swears by this and Coconut Oil- the kind that you use for cooking- NOT the type that liquifies without heating on the stove or in the oven, to keep a womans heels and any calluses one may have. He told me that 99% of "foot creams or softeners," are mainly water, and they do very little, if at all, to keep the feet supple and soft. I had been using various foot creams to keep the bottom of my heels supple. Calluses, however, cannot ever be permanently removed.Calluses are a sign that the way a person walks is off, for one of many reasons. Hammer toe, putting too much pressure on the wrong part of the foot, usually the toes. I'm a CCRN, and I can take seeing ANYTHING. But older folks(what am I talking about,) I am 62 myself! The one thing especially in women is when I have older patients and their heels are all cracked and dried out, because of no care. I'm in Florida, and it drives me crazy to see a nice looking, put together lady, that puts herself together before leaving the house- clothes, nails, jewelry-like she cares how she looks, when she leaves the house. But then I look down to see VERY lovely matching sandals, which many people wear year round here. But then she turns, just so, and I can see her heels. And it ruins the entire look. Cracked, dry, many times dirty- it is a REAL put off. So, a few years ago, I asked him how to prevent that. His answer was using a heel shaving device- VERY CAREFULLY, as one can do MUCH damage with those if you aren't careful. And he also told me to alternate nights after a good soak in the tub then either put on Coconut Oil- ONLY the kind that needs to be heated on the stove or in the oven, to liquify. He said the kind that is liquid in the store won't do a thing. Then alternate nights by using Genuine Vermont Bag Balm. And whichever you use for the night, cover the feet with 100% cotton socks. He looked at my heels today and said they were soft, supple and looked like the heels of a 30 some year old woman. He said his wife has used this routine for over 40 years now, and he said she also has the feet of a 30 year old woman. This stuff is AWESOME!

Great All-Purpose Healing Ointment
Love this stuff. Made for cows udders, but great for dry human skin. I uae ir on feet and legs after bath/shower. It takes a little effort to spread it all over, as it's a little stiff out of the can. But the friction of your hands and vody heat soften it quickley, and it spreads amazingly far. The slight greasy residue disappears over next few hours. I have an old pair of knee-high sport sox I put on right after applying to my legs (always early evening). Helps retain all the softening properties of the Bag Balm, and absorbing the initial greasy residue. To me, more than worth the trouble. Forgot to add that it's great for healing dry, cracked hands, too.

Excellent for cuticle care
I've been buying this product for years. I use hand cream, but the Bag Balm does a much better job on my cuticles and on rougher areas of skin, such as elbows, knees, and feet. In the winter my skin gets so dry that hand cream just doesn't do the trick, so I put Bag Balm on the backs of my hands (I avoid putting greasy stuff on my palms. Hmm. I'm sure there's a joke there.) Bag Balm has the consistency of petroleum jelly, so it's not a liquid or cream. It does have a smell which is a bit odd. I can't describe it, but the smell doesn't linger on your skin so it's not something you'll be smelling for hours. It does feel greasy when you first put it on, but it absorbs into the skin quickly and within a minute or two it's almost as though it wasn't ever there -- because now it's *in* your skin. For extra spa-like pampering, put it on your clean feet at bedtime and pull on a pair of socks to sleep in. In the morning your feet will feel smooth and the cuticles will look great.

moisture barrier for dog paws, cuticles
Not sure if the company product reviews are lumped together or not, so I want to say clarify that this review is for the "Vermont's Original Bag Balm for Dry Chapped Skin Conditions 8oz tin" It is a handy little tin of ointment. Currently I use it on my dogs feet and to massage it into my dry cuticles. I'm not a huge fan of the typical barrier ingredients- namely petroleum (a jelled version of mineral oil), however, it can be quite effective in holding moisture in as needed, and to keep moisture and other environmental stressors out. This bag balm contains just a few ingredients and seems to do what is expected of it, which is to help dry, chapped skin. -petrolatum- skin protecting -lanolin- skin softening -8-hydroxyquinoline sulfate ointment- antiseptic -paraffin wax- emollient, boost moisture levels I bought it primarily for use on my dogs paws. They seemed to be getting extra dry during the long winter of snow and ice. I wanted something to help protect their paws and to help hold moisture in. My two labs are receptive to my rubbing a little bit of this ointment on their toe pads. I rubbed it in, and it seemed to soak in. It is greasy, so keep that in mind if using it for same purpose. Have it be used during a time when they are relaxed and not likely to jump up and slide across the floor. Massage it in so it soaks in. I want to say that I initially was going to make my own barrier cream using a recipe from AKC site, but I wasn't sure if it would seem appealing to the degree they they start a licking behavior. I went with this product after some recommendations from a dog group, and figured the dogs would have zero interest in licking at this slightly medicinal smelling/feeling balm. For some reason I was picturing it being a thicker more waxy balm rather than the thinner, goopy mixture that reminds me of neosporin. Maybe my memory is not correct? Currently I don't find much of a difference in the elimination of dryness of my dogs paws, nor do I find it worse. I will have to use it for a longer period of time to see if this has been effective or not. Currently I/we neither like it nor dislike it, and since I am an avid reviewer, I will come back to edit if I find it seems to be working over time (or if it doesn't).

Miracle cream
Honestly, I wasnโt really expecting this stuff to do more than simply hydrate my dogs paw pads, but itโs exceeded my expectations tremendously. Itโs like neosporin for dogs! (Not really, but kinda!). I have a two year old 120lb Rotty that has super sensitive skin. Hes got some allergies so he is always scratching or trying to bite his little tail because heโs so itchy. He also has some calluses on his โelbowsโ from always laying on hard surfaces (even though he has alllll the soft beds lying around the house). Anyways, I put this on his tail, his calluses and his paw pads and itโs like a miracle! Almost overnight his calluses and paw pads were softer and the constant scratching stopped! Heโs actually content and doesnโt scratch every five seconds! His skin is not so pink anymore either! Definitely worth a try. It will also help with dried noses!! Itโs a baseline texture Andrew kinda has a little smell, but nothing you canโt deal with. Also, a little goes a very long way, but slathering it on the first time seems to help. Do paw pads at night when theyโre sleeping. That way there isnโt paw prints all over your floors during the day as it has time to absorb into the skin (learned that one the hard way ;).

Whats not to like?
I have used this product since I was old enough to get chapped hands, or rough skin, and then found that for exema it is the very best, far better than the items I was paying high prices for prescribed by the doctor. This stuff works. I would give it a 10 star rating were it popossible.

Amazing
My poor horse has a huge split in his nose from the cold which is obviously incredibly painful. This has been used for only a few days twice a day and is already starting to make a difference. It is really difficult to keep any kind of product on a horses nose due to grazing / eating hay, at least this has a bit of staying power!

Recommend to use for skin inflammation
As with product blended with petroleum, the skin harden considerably if the balm is not applied regularly.
