Hatori XPE-R3 AAA LED Flashlight - Nice, inexpensive, small, bright LED light
Didn't really intend to buy another flashlight, but I needed something inexpensive to round out an Amazon order total to over $25, so ordered additional item for about what I'd pay for shipping my main stuff. Found this flashlight that fit the bill for cost, AAA battery use, and a relatively good set of reviews. Have not used this unit for more than a few weeks, so can not comment on some of issues mentioned in other reviews, such the on/off switch malfunctioning within a relatively short time, or the unit can not withstand some everyday abuse (stops working after dropped a few times on hard surfaces). I can say that it does put out a lot of light for its size, and as a few others mentioned, it can indeed to too bright for some uses. Also for me, it would have been more useful to have a lanyard ring instead of the pocket clip. 7/15/19 Update: When I reviewed this flashlight about a year ago, gave it only a 3-star rating because I had it only for a short time, and unsure about its longevity. With a relatively high number of negative reviews about its quality, especially for the on/off switch. Since then I've been carrying it around in my pocket all the time for more than the past 6 months or so, and using it a couple to half-dozen times a day. There haven't been any problems so far, so I've upgraded my rating to 4-stars for the one I got. Found that for my use, the best way to reduce battery costs and ensure that I have more power available on a consistent basis, is to use an older spare pair of NiMH AAA rechargables that I switch between periodically, and I'm usually assured of a pretty intense bright light when I need it. 11/16/23 Update: This small flashlight has been very handy for me, but after using several times daily for 5+ years, decided to replace it for another one because: - The rear switch has been erratic electrically for months now, although mechanically it feels OK. Too often needed to loosen back cover, then -re-screw back down to get flashlight to work. Sometimes how tight the back gets screwed back affects the light intensity. - The LED appears to be wearing out. This was more obvious when I just moved the old unit's battery to the new unit, and then noticed the new unitLED light much brighter.

Size andbrightness
Love it. It is exactly as described. It is nice and tiny. It is great for look8ng at restaurant venues in a dark environment L, or anywhere where light is needed. I love it and you can't Beattie price for a pack of 2.

Perfect size and very bright
What i like most is that a single AAA battery is all you need. Some small flashlights use many button batteries stacked. The lightweight flashlight has a powerful beam for it size.

Amazing little light
I’m a bit of a flashlight connoisseur, I own some expensive ones but my favorite ones are the low cost LED pocket lights I find on Amazon. I work in law enforcement and EMS and I am also an avid hiker and a bit of a prepper, a flashlight is part of my daily wardrobe. Besides the flashlight I carry as a duty light and a second mini light on my belt I believe in still carrying a mini in my tactical pants at all times. I have certain requirements for my backup lights and this one exceeds my expectations. It has to be cheap enough that if I lose it I won’t care. This light is amazingly under $10. It has to have a good strong clip on it that I would be confident hanging upside down and it won’t fall out of my pants or pack, the clip on this light is not only strong enough to meet that demand it is also reversible so that you can reverse the clip to the other side of the light , an unexpected surprise. Decent brightness, this little light is extremely bright and unlike most LED lights it gives off more of a natural white illumination than the bluish glow most LEDs do. It literally fits in the palm of my hand and I included the picture next to some ordinary things I keep in my pocket so you can see the comparison. It’s extremely light weight, in fact it’s so lightweight that I can barely feel it in my pocket and found myself checking for it. If I could find a single fault with this light is that it has no focus, but it really doesn’t bother me because it’s pre focused enough that it gets really good distance. I have bought plenty of mini LED cheap pocket lights from Amazon and some I have bought again. I understand from the price point that after a while these lights aren’t as bright as they once were when new and some just stop working which is fine because the price is so low that replacement is easily affordable . I am curious to see how this light holds up a year from now. I like it so much though that I haven’t even had it twenty four hours yet and I am going to order two more.

Real Good Small Flashlight For The Money
I own several AAA flashlights already as that is the battery standard I chose to keep the weight of what I carry low. My standard pocket flashlight for many years has been the Maglite LED Solitaire. The Hatori 3.55 inch with 3 light modes is the one I purchased and the one I'm reviewing. I will be using the Maglite LED Solitaire as a standard. I also want to point out that I'm using standard Rayovac alkaline batteries in all my flashlights. In my opinion they are a good value of performance and cost. Maglite Solitaire: Operates off 1 AAA battery. Lumens is 47 per factory specs. Runtime is roughly 2 hours continuous (factory states 1hr 45min). Can rotate the head from flood to spot. Good drop and water resistance (I've carried them in my back pocket for years and have only had 1 fail after a couple of years, these are tough flashlights.) A lanyard to attach it to various things. I've attached one to a small carabiner on my backpack straps. Hatori 3.55inch Operates off 1 AAA battery. Lumens is about 120 on high beam and about 35 on low beam. Strobe is bright and flashes rapidly. Runtime is roughly 1 1/2 hours continuous on high beam and roughly 6 1/2 hours continuous on low beam. Beam is spot only but very bright on the high setting. It's easy to click through the beam settings. One full press to turn it on, then a second half press for the next setting, then another half press for the next setting, and so on. You don't have to turn it off and on each time to change the beam setting. I've done some unscientific drop tests and getting them wet tests and have observed no issues. Comes with a clip attached so you can affix it to something. I hope they do hold up as so far I'm impressed with the price, the light settings, battery life on the low beam, and initial durability. At the price they currently are, I've purchased 4 of them. I'm not giving up on my Maglites either. I have some XL50's, XL200's, Maglite Minis, and various other ones. My Maglites have always been durable and long lasing performers. I wish they had something like the Solitaire with different beam settings when battery life is needed over a brighter light.

Not too bright
Nice and small, easy to use, like that it uses only one AA battery, but am disappointed in the strength of the light beam....doesn't seem very bright. But, maybe it's because it's so tiny.
