Thursday Boot Company Men's Diplomat Moc Toe Leather Boot

I’ve been hunting for a pair of moc toes that don't look like bulky bricks on my feet, and the Thursday Diplomat absolutely nailed it. If you’re on the fence about the sizing or the silhouette, here is my experience after a few days of solid wear. The Fit & Feel: Being a size 14, I’m always nervous about ordering online. Often, I have to guess between sizing up or not, but I went with my true size 14 and it was the perfect choice. Some online research says to go with a half size smaller, but I would say stick with your true size. Support: The arch support is fantastic—these are legitimately comfortable right out of the box. Break-in: I’ve worn them daily for three days now, and they are already softening up beautifully. The "break-in period" is moving much faster than other heritage boots I've owned. I was afraid the heel area was going to take time to soften up, but its very comfortable right out of the box. Style & Construction: The quality of the leather and the overall build is awesome. The color is rich and looks even better in person. The leather has a nice solid thickness to it. With the inside of the boot lined with a soft leather, it's a very comfortable and solid fit. Low Profile: My favorite feature is the toe box. It has a much lower profile compared to traditional "clunky" work boots. It gives the boot a more refined, versatile look that works for more than just a job site. One Minor Tweak: The only real "downfall" is the hardware—specifically the laces. They are massive. Even after lacing them all the way to the top, I had about 10-12" of extra lace dangling on each side. I ended up swapping them out for a shorter set immediately. Bottom Line: If you want a high-quality, sleek moc toe that actually fits a size 14 foot comfortably, get these. Just have a spare pair of laces ready to go! This is my first experience with Thursday, but I'm already eyeing a few chukkas.

Welp, in short, they rock. It took much longer to break in than my Thursday Captain boots. The Diplomat’s steel shank under the arch rides a bit high until you’ve put some miles in them. Then things seem to settle down. I wear them four or five days a week. I’ve walked as far as seven miles in them without any shin splints, aches or pains. (I’m at the age where those things happen if you don’t have good shoes.) Now for the big issue. Size. I did return the first pair, because they were too big. I should have listened to others. What your foot measures at a shoe store on a Branick Device is what you should order. They’re still a bit loose if I don’t tighten up on the laces, but they have not stretched at all and are very comfortable once broken in. I tried to capture them in a couple of different lights in the photos. They really do have an awesome color and patina. I’ve never had people say they liked my boots before. It’s happened a few times wearing these. Great casual boots, especially for the price.

Photo Caption: I bought the Thursday Diplomats at the same time as a pair of pricier boots from Whites. I prefer the look and comfort of the Thursday's however the leather on the White's boots are so much better they're in a completely different league. Overall I give the Thursday boots 4 stars mainly due to the overall value (price paid for what you get). The leather quality is average which was expected at this price, and the color I selected (Arizona Adobe) made the leather look flat, almost fake. I'm hoping the color improves as I wear it. For those who may be wondering, the soles are no longer Vibram branded and they are made in-house to save on cost. Had I known this prior I probably would not have purchased these boots since it's not like Thursday passed on that cost-savings to the customer (ie the price is the same with the non-Vibram soles). Despite the lower quality materials, what Thursday does accomplish with the Diplomats is provide a lower cost-of-entry to getting work-wear "style" boots with a goodyear welt. They are surprisingly comfortable OOTB and they do look great on feet. If your goal is purely aesthetic then I would not hesitate to recommend these.

Great pair of boots, look and fit great. Easy sizing, just half down from my sneaker size. I’m really impressed on how quick they broke in and feel so comfortable already. Wear at work everyday, look stylish, my feet don’t hurt end of thr day, and easy to clean off when get home. Will def but grabbing another pair in few years.

Very high quality leather. Quality construction, very well made. It's leather so it's gonna scuff a little, but the more you wear them the better they look. They're extremely comfortable to wear & I'm wear them all day every day & the weight is what you'd expect it to be from a well made boot like this. They've done fine when I've been caught in the rain but I wouldn't recommend getting this type of leather wet or submerged so not waterproof & I wouldn't expect them to be. I've had the burnt cooper for exactly 1 year & the Arizona adobe are new & need to be broken in. Highly functional boots & 1 year in no quality issues at all.

The quality and feel is top notch. However, the color is nowhere near what’s pictured. It is MUCH lighter. They still look good and I am happy. Update, very quickly the leather is having issues

Great boot, with a casual look but be aware the last is a bit narrow, more narrow than the Captain or President. The Burnt Copper leather looks great with some nice pull up but starts out stiff so there is some break in. After it breaks in its softer and although more narrow than Captains or Presidents there's enough stretch. But if it's really snug you may want to go a half size up.

Me encanta la estética de las botas y su calidad de construcción, eso es sin duda alguna lo mejor de estas botas. Pero lamentablemente no son para mi, llevo casi un mes usándolas y aunque han mejorado mucho en cuanto a comodidad, la verdad es que son pésimas para los pies. Son extremadamente angostas, especialmente en la zona de los dedos y además al tener este frente más bajo que las diferencia de las moctoe típicas, esto mismo hace que el pulgar del pie costantemente se aplaste contra la parte superior al caminar. Y todo esto se traduce que al final del día los pies queden muy fatigados y adoloridos. Y en cuanto a talla yo pedí media talla menos de lo que usualmente uso, según la recomendación del vendedor, y efectivamente del largo estuvo perfecto, pero el ancho de la bota es verdaderamente angosto, y no soy de pies anchos (mis pies son de un ancho intermedio). Tiene un soporte de arco notorio, lo cual a primera instancia da la sensación de ser cómodo, pero en verdad no es necesario y fuerza a al pie a una posición que naturalmente debería de lograr por sí mismo. Entonces, en resumen, no las recomiendo si las quieres usar muy seguido, tal vez solo para ciertas ocasiones donde no caminarás mucho ni estarás de pie durante tanto tiempo. Yo ya no puedo devolverlas, pero si pudiera, lo haría. Preciosas, pero imprácticas.

I bought the captains in size 12.5 (following Thursdays size guide) and it always bothered me that there was a 1 inch space at the tip of my boot because the toe box is so narrow. I got this pair of diplomats in size 12 and the boots fit much better. Snug, but not cutting off blood circulation to my feet, plus no pointy toe. If you can try them on in person or with a way to return them easily (like amazon) do that because Thursdays recommend sizing can be hit or miss in my experience. That being said the leather is great, build quality is great. Laces however are not good it feels like they loosen up over time when out walking causing some minor heel slip even when I double knot them, i'll probably swap them out for some leather ones in the future. Overall I am still happy with my purchase.

These arrived very quickly. On inspection these boots seem to be as good as all the other reviews say. However, they were slightly too big. So I returned them. Once the return is processed i'll try a half size smaller. Ordered a half size down and they fit perfect. Very comfortable to wear right out of the box. I'll certainly buy more from these folks. After several days - there is really no break in period. Still comfortable. However, as another reviewer mentioned, the tongue is not gusseted. And so I've noticed that the gusset slides off to the side. Maybe a slit in the tongue to pass the laces through might be the solution.

Hi. I just received my Diplomat boots this afternoon and there appears to be a few areas on the right boot that has glue that has gotten on the leather area of my instep and closer to the outsole. What can I do to fix this, or would I need to do an exchange? * I can provide pictures if needed. Thank you.
