The first of a two part movie - touted as science fiction. The year is 10191. And the scene of action - Arrakis, a distant planet. Perpetually short on water; massive temperatures, in hundreds of degrees ; with a large desert ecology occupied by acsub culture Fremen; the mainland undergoing a transition of governance from Harkonnens to Atreides; the deviousness of a Padishah emperor; ostensibly to end the brutal rule of Harkonnens; but in reality to upstage the Atreides who increasingly appear to be competitors to the throne, being liked by all major houses. The availability of a euphemistic ‘spice’, required for interstellar travel, as well as being a food ingredient. A psychosomatic substance in reality. The blue within blue eyes of the Fremen who have mastered the art of survival on the fringes of the desert. It is not complete without mention of the Bene-gesserit influence in fostering a bloodline; the coming of Lisan al gaib ( the proclaimed one); the conversion of a concubine into a Reverend Mother; the inevitability of a jihad; the effort to declaim all greatness by the chosen one and remain mortal. While still avenging Leto Aetrides assassination, choosing to continue on Arrakis, become the next Padishah, while still remaining committed to his Fremen redeemers and rooted to the ground.

Superb movie

Hi, I ordered this movie with great excitement since the 3D Blu-ray was available earlier than in UK. But it was utter disappointment when 3D disc was played, as it was not in 3D version. Tried out with few of my 3D collection doubting the TV settings but all played in 3D perfectly..looks like there is error in disc processing. So missed watching this in 3D. Movie is amazing and not to be missed..

Please note: the copy I bought is the 1-disc 3D edition that includes only the 3D Blu-ray disc and doesn’t include the 2D Blu-ray with special features. And the reviews saying that the 3D doesn’t work are old. The first batch of copies were faulty and the 3D disc were in 2D instead of 3D. But now it’s fixed and the 3D discs work properly. This is one of the best films to come out in recent times, and it is much more enhanced in 3D! Highly recommended for 3D fans! Hats off to everyone who worked on the 3D conversion at DNEG! Recensione di "Dune" - 9,5/10 "Dune" è un capolavoro, non c'è altro modo per descriverlo. Denis Villeneuve ha saputo prendere un'opera letteraria complessa e ricca come quella di Frank Herbert e trasporla sul grande schermo in modo magistrale. Il film è una meraviglia visiva, con una fotografia mozzafiato e un design di produzione che trasporta lo spettatore in un universo completamente nuovo, vasto e affascinante. Ogni inquadratura sembra un'opera d'arte, e la colonna sonora di Hans Zimmer aggiunge ulteriore profondità e epicità a un'esperienza già straordinaria. Il cast è eccezionale, con interpretazioni che rispecchiano perfettamente i personaggi dell'opera originale. Timothée Chalamet nel ruolo di Paul Atreides è impeccabile, riuscendo a catturare la vulnerabilità e la determinazione del giovane protagonista. Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, e il resto del cast offrono performance memorabili che danno vita ai complessi intrecci di potere e destino che permeano l'universo di Dune. Se proprio si vuole trovare l'ago nel pagliaio, l'unico appunto che potrei fare riguarda il ritmo in alcune parti del film, specialmente nei momenti più dedicati alla narrazione e nei tempi morti. In queste sezioni, il film rallenta un po', e se il ritmo fosse stato più serrato, Dune avrebbe raggiunto la perfezione assoluta. Tuttavia, questo piccolo difetto non intacca la qualità complessiva del film, che rimane un'opera eccezionale e uno dei migliori adattamenti di fantascienza mai realizzati. Villeneuve è riuscito a creare un mondo che è al tempo stesso fedele al libro e innovativo, e il risultato è un'esperienza cinematografica che non solo intrattiene, ma ispira e fa riflettere. E come sempre, Amazon è stata all'altezza delle aspettative. Il film è arrivato rapidamente e in condizioni perfette, confermando l'eccellenza del servizio. In sintesi, Dune merita un 9,5 su 10. È un capolavoro sotto quasi tutti i punti di vista, con un cast e una regia eccezionali. Con un ritmo leggermente più calibrato, sarebbe stato perfetto. Amazon, come sempre, si merita il massimo dei voti per l'ottimo servizio offerto.

A review of the 3D presentation… This second adaptation of Frank Herbert’s sprawling novel Dune is an amazing visual spectacle that benefits greatly from the 3D process. Quite simply, this film is made to be seen in 3D and thanks to Amazon the USA Blu-ray is available worldwide. Bone rattling sound and HD picture makes this an essential purchase so track down a 3D copy, it’s worth the extra coin. Like many other viewers around the world I’m awaiting the second part of this film. Brilliant! Update February 2024 :- sadly Part Two of Dune has not been converted to 3D.

Pas de VF ni de VOSTFR et le vendeur ne réponds pas

La versione 4K di Dune (2021, regia di Denis Villeneuve) è semplicemente strepitosa. La qualità dell’immagine è incredibile: colori intensi, neri profondi, dettagli nitidissimi. Se hai un buon impianto audio, il mix sonoro ti farà sentire davvero immerso in Arrakis. Il film è incluso sia in versione 4K che Blu-Ray standard: ottimo per chi non ha sempre un lettore 4K a disposizione. Il cofanetto include anche contenuti extra molto interessanti per chi vuole approfondire la lavorazione del film. ✅ Consigliato agli amanti della fantascienza, ai fan del libro e a chi cerca un titolo di riferimento per il proprio impianto home cinema.
