can an adult use the kids risewell?

Yes, it can be used by adults, some prefer the taste

Does it just taste sweet, or does it have that 'zing' which toothpaste often has? (Fussy toddler...)

It tastes a bit sweet but its natural. I have tried myself and it's a very pleasant toothpaste. No wonder why my 5 years old love to use it. :) Definitely recommend it.
