Great budget Japanese style knife
The MITSUMOTO SAKARI 5.5-inch paring knife has quickly become one of the most used tools in my kitchen. It strikes a perfect balance between traditional Japanese craftsmanship and modern ergonomic design.Whatโs to Love:Exceptional Sharpness: Out of the box, the 3-layer 9Cr18Mov high carbon steel blade is incredibly sharp. It glides through delicate fruit skins and firm vegetables like garlic and shallots with absolute ease.Superb Maneuverability: The 5.5-inch blade is a sweet spot for precision tasks. Whether Iโm deveining shrimp, coring strawberries, or making decorative garnishes, the knife feels like an extension of my hand.Comfortable Ergonomics: The octagonal rosewood handle is a standout feature. Itโs lightweight and well-balanced, which significantly reduces hand fatigue during long prep sessions. It also has a natural moisture resistance that ensures a secure grip even when my hands are wet.Stunning Presentation: It arrives in a beautiful sandalwood box, making it look much more expensive than it is. It would make a fantastic gift for any home cook.Things to Keep in Mind:Hand Wash Only: Because it's made of high carbon steel, this knife requires immediate drying after hand washing to prevent rust. Avoid the dishwasher at all costs.Delicate Blade: This is a precision instrument, not a heavy-duty cleaver. It excels at fine work but isn't meant for hacking through bone or frozen foods.Final VerdictFor the price, youโre getting a high-performing, aesthetically pleasing knife that rivals much more expensive Japanese brands. If you do a lot of detailed vegetable and fruit prep, this paring knife is a worthy investment for your collection.

Sharp
Very nice working knife for the kitchen. Comes very sharp in beautiful packaging. Sharpens easily with a quality steel and easy to maintain. Very large handle that fits the hand perfectly and allows absolute control of the knife blade and making it safe to use. The knife is nice looking also, very Japanese appearance and where it happens to be made.

Perfectly balanced!
I bought this knife and another from their more expensive line at the same time to see which was better. The more expensive one was awful! It was sharp, but lacked balance. This knife is perfectly balanced and super sharp. The handle is attached solidly, with no wiggle at all. It has been able to cut everything I have tried it on, from tomatoes to thick slabs of meat.

Great knife
This knife is my absolute favorite! Great in the kitchen. This particular size is very good for most kitchen jobs. I also got the sharpening wand from them as well, that I use once a week and it keeps my knife sharp.

Sharp Decent knife too much packaging
I wouldโve given a five stars but the wooden box and all the other stuff I would do without for a little better quality handle and BladeVery sharp knife, decent construction stainless steel but they say itโs carbon. Very sharp, nice blade length and shape. The handle is a bit large for the size of the knife. It tapers back bigger at the end, which is frustrating instead of being uniform the antagonist grip is brilliant great control throats a bit short, but it is a small knife for the price you cannot beat it, but the wooden box is an excessive silly thing I wouldโve rather them done without it and maybe used a slightly better steelI did order their chopping knife because Iโm so impressed with the build for the cost

Quite the bargain for a solid Japanese kitchen knife!
I got this for 30 something bucks on a deal. Frankly I like it a lot more than my Miyabi that I just got. I sliced through an white onion like it was nothing. I appreciate the storage box as I have yet to get a knife roll. If this knife holds up better slicing carrots than the Miyabi utility knife or my Shun Nakiri, this brand will be my go to for replacements. I definitely like this better than the heavier German knifes I had been using before.

It is not japanese, but ok for the price.
1st it is not Japanese. They do an excellent job of trying to trick you that they are. That being said it is a very decent knife for the price. I thought it was sharp, and by US and European standards it is very sharp, But, when I did back to back comparison with my real Japanese petty made from the family that once made samurai swords, no comparison. The real Japanese knife was like a light saber, of course the Japanese knife cost more than 3 times as much. My only reason for buying it was to practice how to hand sharpen Japanese style knifes without ruining my authentic Japanese knifes. Overall its a decent knife and for someone who only uses inexpensive US style knifes this is a step up.

Very sharp
Very sharp, cut my finger open very easily by mistake. Back of blade could be rounded not come to a sharp point, very easy to cut yourself if youโre not careful. My only issue is the handle isnโt smooth between the different woods.

Looks great and good quality
Beautiful and solid knife! Pleasure to work with. Good for mid/small size work. Itโs might be small to work with meat or fish.
