I have been sewing since I was a kid, but now at the age of 64, I mostly mend items. And at my age, with poor eyesight, I have become very frustrated trying to do basic things with my sewing machine. Actually, I've long had problems in the past with needle breakage, thread breakage, skipped stitches, thread tension issues etc.. I struggled until I was almost in tears just trying to thread the sewing machine needle! So I got serious about it and did some studying. I use my computer to do research more than anything else. I studied all the typical sewing problems and how to fix them. I discovered just how important the correct needle is. The size matters! The right type of needle; universal or ball point matters! If the needle is bent, it matters! Matching your fabric to the correct needle size is very important! (Even the right thread matters.) So I got out all my sewing machine needles and organized them. That was a chore in itself. Many of my needles I had to basically guess at their size because you could barely read them. I had a few of some and 1 or two of others. When I bought them years ago I had no clue it made much difference and got what I found on sale! Well..no longer do I do that! I am so pleased with this set of 48 needles! There are 6 packs of 8 needles in each pack. The pack comes with 4 ball point and 4 universal needles. They come in a case that keeps them organized and labeled so you can EASILY identify each needle. Not only does the case label each one, but the needles are engraved clearly with the size on them. The Universal needles have red marks on them, the Ball Point needles have yellow marks on them. They each have 1 size 80/12 needle, 2 size 90/14 needles, and 1 size 100/16 needle. Each size is also identified by an individual color (orange, blue or purple). The needles have large thread holes and believe me, that makes a difference when your eyes are shot. I do now use a large lit up magnifying glass for threading and that also has made all the difference in my frustration level. These are supposed to be 2x stronger than the average needle, and that makes me happy because they should last longer. I guess they can only get so much use before they break. What else can I say, except... if you sew, try these, you'll like them!
