TOPDON AD600S OBD2 Scanner, Engine ABS SRS Transmission Diagnostic Tool

Love this! I’m not a professional mechanic but I do indulge in some mechanic work here and there. I’ve diagnosed multiple cars, family and friends and just off tips this thing has paid itself. Although it doesn’t have fancy controls like the other ones that are double the price, it does come with lifetime updates and that was a big selling point for me. Live readings are accurate and can read a bunch of codes as well as compare live data. Light and portable with a carrying case is a plus!

Got it to release the electronic parking brake on my car for easy brake changes, and I'm honestly surprised at the amount of data being given to you at this price point. Additionally, you can upgrade to a premium version of the software that provides even more functionality, but even at a base level, there are free updates for life to the main functions of the scanner. Used it on a 2022 Civic Si and it had no problems recognizing my car model.

Great scanner tool.. The TOPDON ad600s does not disappoint.. Does everything as advertised and built like a tank.. The touch screen is very fast and easy to setup and navigate.. Being a traditional hot rodder ,I don't work much on modern vehicles accept basic maintenance.. After getting an airbag light on my f-150, I decided to look into fixing it.. The reality of isolating the problem could cost hundreds of $$$.. After some research, I decided on the AD600s.. After the easy set-up, plugged in and found the problem..( passenger seatbelt retractor) I sent it off for repairs and saves hundreds $$ not going to the dealership.. This unit does everything that my mechanic friends $3k unit does! Since then I have used it several times on all my modern vehicles. Should have bought this year's ago. Do yourself a favor, save dough, and buy one.. You'll be happy you did..

I purchased the AD600S because I thought it was the newest version of their line that supported the features I need. I need to work on my Bently and specifically reprogramming the computer for a new starting battery. It arrived in a basic package with a set of instructions, a quick start guide, FAQ for 7 common problems and a usb cable. I tried another brand that advertised it would be able to do a BRT, BMS, BEM code reset, whatever its called to your specific brand and it was not compatible with the Bentayga. I was able to do all the resets I needed and also clear out other codes (these cars don't have the ability to deal with a low performing battery and will cause various computers to erroneously report problems that are not there). interestingly enough it seems to use some version of Android (Android 6 according to amazon) and some mobile device components as when I go to shutdown it asks if I want to shutdown my phone. It seems to have some internal battery as it would stay on after disconnecting the OBD2 cord and it would show a battery percentage that could also be charged through the supplied USB cable. It also has an internal screen recording feature which could be useful if you want to share how to do a certain task to someone else. And be prepared for the updates, after connecting it to the WIFI for the first use it will take a very long time to download all the updates. My only complaint is the screen, the touch screen works fine but it's a little small. 2024 update: It's still my main OBD2 tool, however I will report that there are inconsistencies when it comes to the features. Apparently some of the features/tests require you to be connected to Wifi for them to work. And not all of the features are compatible with some cars and not all features are available for use all the time. It was strange that I was using the throttle learn feature on my Porsche but one day I went to use it on another car and the feature was gone.

Big plus on the touch screen that more expensive ones don't have. Was able to reset my SAS in 3 seconds that the more expensive brand could not do. Very easy to use and the auto vin detection worked that did not work on the more expensive brand. Does what more expensive brands do not. Bought two other brands, one cheaper and one twice the price as this unit, and although these two brands had different names they were both from the same company (red flag) and both made claims such as SAS reset, but neither actually could do it, but was told in a message they "support it". This one did reset the SAS in 3 seconds and I cannot express how nice of a scanner this is. I am more inclined to write reviews that are negative, but had to express how happy I am with this scanner. Easy to update, easy to use, has more functions than more expensive ones, has a TOUCH SCREEN, and cannot beat this unit especially after paying twice as much for a scanner without touch screen that could not reset the SAS, and had to manually put in the vin number each time using buttons to navigate the numbers and letters.

I recently had an experience with TOPDON that genuinely impressed me. Following my post about my AD600S's touchscreen failure, the company proactively reached out to offer me either a full refund or a replacement for my diagnostic scanner. It’s rare these days for a vendor to make the first move to take care of a customer, and I was pleasantly surprised by their initiative and generosity. I spent weeks researching diagnostic tools before choosing the TOPDON AD600S and was extremely pleased with it, and I didn’t want to start that process all over again. So after thanking them, I let them know I preferred a replacement since I still needed a scanner, and their customer service team was exceptionally polite, respectful, and responsive. They made me feel valued throughout the entire interaction. A few days later, TOPDON sent me a replacement — the upgraded AD800 BT 2. This new unit exceeded my expectations. It features enhanced diagnostic capabilities, a bit larger screen (it seems to me at least), and it’s much faster and more responsive than my previous model. My favorite improvement is the Bluetooth-enabled OBDII interface that pops out from the bottom of the unit. It completely eliminated the hassle of cords and made my workflow smoother and more efficient. This experience left me feeling grateful and genuinely impressed with TOPDON’s commitment to customer satisfaction. It’s clear that they stand behind their products and care about their customers. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend TOPDON to anyone looking for reliable diagnostic tools backed by excellent support - one of reasons I selected TOPDON and purchased AD600S originally. I would have included in here the video I took while using the AD800BT 2 but it turned out extremely shaky (excitement of my new toy) and my phone kept slipping off my fingers. I'll take another shot at recording and will post it soon as I can - now I wish I had one of those little cameras to stick on my forehead lol. This 600s scantool does come with full-features, and is compatible with any OBD2 system, but that's about the only advantages. It's larger and heavier than most compact scanners, must be fully charged or kept on charge, in order to work. It does not simply work off of the OBD plug power. The most frustrating thing is the fact that the device puts up a network screen when plugged in, and there's no obvious way to get around that and simply use the basic functions. This is a major and fatal flaw in the device, as you may keep this in your car and may have to use it in an emergency, where no network is available. Any half-way decent scanner should operate without a paywall, a subscription and without a network connection. Because of these critical functional drawbacks, this is a "shop only" tool, which can only be used around your home or garage, where it has access to a familiar network. You should also not have to pay for a monthly or yearly subscription only to use "advanced" features. It's overpriced for what most DIYers need and will disappoint. I'm actually sorry that I chose to buy this and will keep it in my toolbox, but I will not be bringing it with me on the road.

This scanner usually costs about the same as a single visit to the dealer. By the time you’ve used it twice to clear a SRS light, reset your oil life, or figure out a transmission glitch, the tool has already paid for itself. It’s a massive relief to know exactly what’s wrong with your car before you ever step foot in a shop (or better yet, to fix it yourself and save hundreds in labor).

TOPDON's Customer Service is top notch, and there products are Excellent! I had a slight issue and a misunderstanding with my AD600S. Unexpectedly, TOPDDON reached out to me and this minor issue was resolved in record time. I was very surprised that I actually heard from them and did so quite satisfactory. I have used other meters and regard their products as very good quality and better than most! I totally recommend this Scan Tool as an entry level or professional instrument it does the job nicely!

So many OBD scanners to chose from nowadays, but for the best overall, well constructed, packed with all the most practical software to help solve emissions & automotive powertrain issues, makes this my new tool box scanner. It was at first doubtful only because obviously this one had been opened & tried previously & language option on start up was not available it had been programmed in spanish, and missing the original glass protector.It took me awhile to learn how to understand spanish & where to go change language to english but once I did, the rest of set up was self explanatory from wifi set up to downloading all the latest software available. It's internal memory still has plenty of space even after downloading all 86 updates. I look forward to work with this scanner & I, like many out there that are DIY need quality but affordable tools to help get the job done! This is by far the best brand money can buy and even though I did not mark a rating on tech support, if ever I need too, I'm certain they stand behind their product and will earn a 5 star from me then.

I have the ABS and Trac control lights on currently in my 13 Lincoln MKX. Used the TOPDON tool to scan for the code successfully. Indicates right rear wheel speed sensor problem. I will replace the speed sensor and re-test. The product booted up and the setup was straight forward, though the updating process took some time to complete (20-30 mins.), so be prepared for that. The soft keyboard that comes up to enter details (like VIN#, Wireless password, etc.) is small. If you have large fingers, it could be a bit frustrating. Might need to use the end of a pencil with an eraser on it to make typing more easy (haven't tried it yet, but plan to). Also, I'd suggest plugging it into your laptop immediately to check battery charge level. Mine was only 30% when received and you don't want it to run out of power when you're doing the updates. Overall, happy with the purchase so far. Definitely an upgrade over my previous basic scan tool from Innova.
