I suggest watching a youtube video on how to use the tool for the engine your working on. The part that stumped everyone so far was not removing the vacuum pump drive bolt that is on the end intake camshaft which is 27mm socket to remove it. It looks like the right size for the slot to use the tool with but it was not. The camshaft tool will not slip on perfectly either. I had to redo another mechanic's job since the engine would barely run and saw he used the vacuum pump bolt drive slots to set the intake cam timing and not the actual camshaft slots that are on the shaft itself to set the timing. Once I did it the correct way the engine ran perfectly fine. The crank pulley pin is perfect size. Use the little hole on the crank pulley spoke to line up with the timing cover hole at about 12 O'clock position that this long silver thumb screw goes to. Then use the crankshaft locking pin on the backside of the engine block. There is plug bolt you remove to put this locking pin in. I would also suggest using the locking tool for the flywheel to prevent bending the alignment pins when torquing the crank pulley bolt to 85 Ft pounds or so. Make sure you use the crank position sensor alignment tool which goes over the entire sensor to line it up with the crank pulley. The crank sensor is adjustable and can throw off spark timing without using that alignment tool.

I do not normally write reviews unless absolutely warranted. Thus said, I had to add a comment about the need for this (or similar) tool. On the Ford 2.0L engines with EcoBoost (turbo), there are no real timing marks identifying tooth-for-tooth positions, only "round about" locations when setting the timing. As a mechanic of over 30years, I can say that these newer cars, suv's, etc. do not like to be off even by 1 tooth as the computer will see this as an error and either run rough or try to compensate by adding more air or fuel causing poor fuel economy. Or in the case of being more than 1 tooth off, it could cause the valves to either open or close at the wrong time or even allow the valve(s) to make contact with the piston head and bend the valve shaft. That said, this tool kit comes with all the necessary components to locks the cams, crank, and flywheel in the correct position so the chain will literally drape over the sprockets matching every tooth, and the alignment tool for setting the crank position sensor. this kit is all steel and durable and the crank locking pin is METAL not plastic! Local retail shops were asking 260$ for this exact same setup. So, ya. 43$ and overnighted with prime, sold. I do recommend this (or similar) timing alignment kit because with out these components... Clutch tool kit for doing timing on these nasty Ecoboosts. Quality is 3.4/5, but it’s a 5/5 on the price. I’d recommend wearing a gas mask though these chemicals they spray it with will melt your eyes out and they came from China. Other than that it’s a must for y’all ecoboost dudes and dudettes.
