Chainsaw Safety Helmet

I absolutely love this Chainsaw Helmet. What a great item! I purchased this based on Oregon's legendary reputation and having owned their Chainsaw Chaps and Chainsaw chains. I was not disappointed. This helmet exceeded my expectations! First let's talk Fit. I have a very large head - I wear a 2xl cap size and 7 3/4 hat size in fedoras and cowboy hats. So, I wasn't sure this would fit - but it does fit with room to spare! The inner liner retention system was already installed and is fully adjustable. I just turned the dial and voila, a perfect fit! Now let's talk quality. This thing is very durable. Yes it's plastic, but it super-hard and thick, and is built like a construction helmet. It has an extra ridge at top to help deflect impacts and breather hole vents to keep your noggin cool. The mesh screen shield is awesome. It is steel mesh, unlike others that are cheap flimsy vinyl or plastic. I compared this to a Stihl helmet, ant the Stihl helmet was like a kid's play toy compared to this Oregon model, which is superior. The steel mesh screen shield in my opinion is superior to a solid clear plastic one, because in the past, I've had the solid clear plastic ones fog up in cool weather - not something you want to have happen while you're handling a dangerous tool like a chainsaw! But this steel mesh one is fully breathable, and durable. You can also see clearly out of it. I can read through it, which states to its clarity. The earmuffs are great for multiple reasons. Of course, to dampen out noise from chainsaws. But even if you're running a much quieter electric chainsaw, these earmuffs work to both keep your ears warm in cold environments, and most importantly, they keep your helmet retained on your head better than a chinstrap. With them on, your helmet is strapped tight to your head and won't come off in case you are struck by impact, or are leaning down, bending over, looking up, etc. All in all, I give this Oregon Helmet 5-Stars. If you are on the fence about getting one of these, I highly recommend this helmet over all others. It's well worth the price, and you can't put a price on your life or safety.

If you have more than just the lawn to tame with your trimmer this is a glorious piece of equipment. My normal routine during the growing season involved being smacked in the noggin' with rocks, cactus, woody weeds, brush, and weed chunks. This helmet makes it a whole different experience. The muffs work better than the stand alones I was using, the visor keeps everything out of the face, and of course the helmet keeps from getting whacked in the head. I didn't even realize how heavy the beating was that I was taking until it was no longer there. It also keeps all the debris out of the hair and beard. It isn't any hotter than wearing a vented sun cap and is surprisingly lightweight. Easy to adjust for sweatbands with the adjustment knob. Doesn't interfere with wearing shades. An unexpected plus is that the visor keeps gnats off the face. I guess they can't figure out how to go around. This is a steal for the price, considering cheapo muffs start at around $25. It's got a lot of plastic in it, to be sure, but I'm not sure that really detracts unless maybe you're using it every day. It may not even then because the only load it sees is moving the visor and muffs. The assembly concerns voiced by so many are gone as of 2020. The factory now assembles the suspension in the helmet. It's now a 60 second ordeal. Snap the muffs into the slots by the ears from above with the black plastic mounts facing the top of the helmet (not the chin) then slide the visor mount into the obvious slots in the muff mounts. Couldn't be easier. If you own acreage or are just tired of being pelted do your self a favor and snag one of these.

Upon receiving this helmet I judged it to be a good quality product, it's light, yet it's built very sturdy. This forestry helmet has the best fitting ear muffs and the best ear muff system that I have seen yet. I've had two other forestry helmets before this one, a Stihl and a Rockman, and the ear muffs is what failed on both of those helmets. Of course those two helmets had all plastic ear muff systems, but this has two heavy gauge wires that you slide the ear muffs up and down on for adjustment. I'm sure that you can break them if you try, or if you're careless, but they seem really sturdy and you'd have to pull on them excessively to get them to break. The face shield is a good size, is easy enough to see through, and was easy enough to install. As far as the instructions were concerned, not to come off as critical towards people here, but all you need to do is look at the progression of pictures to put this helmet together properly. Yah, you really need to push (and carefully so as not to break it) to get the ear muff attachments into their slots, but it's pretty simple. The one thing that I don't like about the helmet is the head band adjustment on a swivel, it just doesn't to seem to fit as securely as a hardhat with a non-swiveling adjustment, but you can tighten it down enough to where it stays put without the ear muffs on. With the ear muffs down over your ears, which is how you're going to run a chainsaw anyway, this helmet isn't going anywhere. Overall it seems good except for the swiveling adjustment, and I'll update this review as I use it.

I bought this to be safer cutting trees around the neighborhood for my neighbors and for cutting down or trimming trees myself on my land. I looked at other name brands and they were a lot more. And actually was surprised that this "Oregon" name brand hat was not as expensive as those others since Oregon is a nationwide name brand too. Normally I would pay as much as possible for my safety but after reading reviews (lots of reviews) for this product and other products, I thought I would buy this safety helmet/hard hat and all that comes with it for the price just to see what it's all about. I'm glad I bought it too. The price is awesome indeed. It arrived on time and I watched the video above to see how to put it together. Took about 10 minutes or less. I tried it first time at my neighbors across the street cutting up a pretty big tree they gave me for firewood. No noise blaring in my ears but yet you can still talk to someone without removing the ear pads/protectors. Very nice. The hard hat/helmet is comfortable even on top of a doo rag on my head too. And love the stainless steel visor for protection against flying debris too. I do wear goggles under it for added protection. Just my thing to do for me. You don't have to do that. But I do like this product a lot and you won't be sorry if you buy it.

Much better quality and function than expected. Was expecting much less for the money but after putting together and using multiple times, I am a definite fan. I have a larger head and its still fits comfortably. The ear covers work well and are on steel wire mounts so they fit tightly and comfortably and stay snug during use and they really help to keep the hat snugly in position when moving and bending a lot. The face shield is very well designed and highly effective. Multiple detent positions so it stays flipped up or down as needed. I still use safety glasses under for when I flip it up. Despite other reviews, it took me less than 2 minutes to fully assemble. Not complicated. Highly recommend the Oregon.

A majority of the poor ratings for this helmet are with the assembly. This took me about 10 minutes including taking all these pictures to help others who might be interested in this product. It's actually pretty well designed, but I will admit the picture instructions leave a lot to be desired, but use them as a guide for the assembly. So off we go, pictures and text assembly instructions 1) After un-boxing, take the helmet and the cross-strap with the U shaped attahcments. Withe the helmet up-side down, take one of the U shaped attachments and make sure the feet are facing outward, then slide the attachment down into the two slots until it clicks in. Do the same on the other side making sure the strap is not twisted. 2) Install the headband. Keep the helmet up-side down on your table. Take the adjusting knob and rotate it away from headband webbing. Note that the adjusting knob should be in the back of the helmet and the knob should now be facing up with the helmet up-side down . The important thing to note when assembling it is that the four translucent white attachment points on the headband that hold the webbing need to be folded in half before you can insert them in the helmet slots. The folded edge is inserted into the helmet slots first, then pushed down until you hear it click. It's difficult to describe, but actually pretty easy, and the pictures should help. 3) Install the hearing protectors. Lay the helmet on you table right-side up (vents on top). Take the ear muffs and rotate the black insertion tab around so that it points away from the ear muff. This just makes it easier to install. Insert the ear muff tabs into the two slots on either side of the helmet keeping the soft padded inside of the ear muff facing (touching) the helmet. Depress the locking tabs on either side of the insert tab and push the ear muff down until you click the unit in place. Please see the pictures. Now you have installed the hearing protection. 4) Install the visor bracket. Keep the helmet right-side up on the table. Flip the visor bracket attachment tabs over so that they point away from the visor bracket (see pictures) and slide the two tabs into slots in the ear muff brackets. As you push the visor bracket back into the slots the locking tab will need to be depressed twice so you can properly seat it. Use the little square openings (windows) and depress the visor tab to allow it to move back two clicks. If it's installed correctly the edge of the visor bracket will sit on the front edge of the helmet visor. 5) Attach the screen. The visor bracket has 5 locking screen attachments. You will first need to twist them so each is flat (horizontal), then beginning in the center lay the screen over visor bracket and twist the center locking attachment so that it is up and down (vertical). Do that for each of the four others and you are done. See the pictures. 6) If all goes well your helmet should be complete. Good luck.

This helmet has a Nice visor mesh that you can see through. It is similar to a mosquito head net I wear that has very fine holes, I find it easier to see through a fine mesh instead of a thicker one., It fits well, the ear muffs fit well. They are not overly soundproofed, so I added some more foam in them. It's not a big deal to me I always wear earplugs anyway. Helmet was reasonably priced, and the turn adjuster is a must, it's easy to put on looser and then tighten it after it's on your head.ñ the The main reason I bought it was because of the stainless steel fine mesh visor. I did not want a advisor that was hard to see through. When you're cutting wood in the winter, the fine chips stick to the visor and freeze where your breath is, once it thaws either rinse it or brush them off and it's good to go

I have had this two years. Hot sweaty,dropped it, and find that is holds up well. I out it in first with the band lose. Then tighten it very firm to your head. Then lower mask and let her rip. Saved my face already a few times. If you use a brush cutter, don't go thinking you don't need it, your just going to do this one spot. That will be when a chunk flies right at your face. I would buy this again.

It's OK, the helmet lacks and chinstrap and is prone to come off or move. I'm searching for a chinstrap!

Great for home use but thought it would be a bit more sturdy.

草刈機とチェンソーを使うのに買いました。草刈するのに使ったんですが、イヤーマフは、メガネをしていても痛くならなくて、ちゃんと音を小さくしてくれて良いです、ただ少し暑いです。顎紐が無いですがイヤーマフで押さえるのでヘルメットずれることは無いですメッシュの面は小さい石など防いでくれますが、埃などは通します。結構使えます。

軽くてフィット感が良いです。 調節がダイヤル式なので微調整がききます。 イアーマフはかなり強力に遮音してくれます。 今まで耳栓を使ってましたがこれは良いですね。 シールドも網なので曇らす快適です。 シールドを取り付けるホルダーは取説のようにヘルメットに奥まで差し込むとシールドが完全に降りないので一段手前で止める事をお勧めします。
