E-MAX Shadows Pro Electronic Hearing Protection with Ambient Sound Amplification, Bluetooth, Rechargeable Case, For Shooting and Range

Had a problem with the case not charging. Not charging the earbuds and also not charging the case itself. Customer service was extremely easy go deal with and made it right immediately. I used to use them as my everyday but now just use them for the range. I would 100% recommend these. All electronics will malfunction from time to time, what matters is if the company makes it right. These guys do!

Edit - Lowering to 1star, with the provided large eartips installed the earphones don't stay in contact with the charging pins on the case, so I pulled them out one day and the batteries in the earphones were dead when the case was still full. I don't pack these in my range bag anymore, sticking to my Sordins. I primarily shoot outdoors so I purchased this so that I can hear my surroundings and have conversations while on/near the firing line. These are not suitable for indoor use - doubling up with foam earplugs and an electronic headset is recommended for that. When I am at the outdoor range by myself or with a few others these work as expected - gunshots are not amplified, but normal noises are. I wear in-ears at my computer all day so these are as comfortable - I was able to wear them for 4 hours without any concerns. However, when I shoot pistol matches, this product does not work correctly. Generally I am standing 10-20 feet behind the current shooter, and am in the vicinity of other action bays where gunfire is going off. In these situations, these headphones actually amplify the noises of all of these gunshots. Even at the lowest volume setting of ambient noise, I am still hearing amplified gunshots. While this isn't loud enough for me to consider it unhealthy, it borders on uncomfortable and defeats the entire point of these earbuds. If I am not conversing with anyone I generally just turn the ambient noise feature off entirely, which is disappointing.

First thing is that if you want be able turn the ambient volume up or down, you need to have it paired to your phone. Not sure why they require you to but that's the way it is. Noise cancellation, wearing the medium foam tips, it does well enough to limit the sound in a firing range with AR rifles. Ambient works well enough but you will want to turn it to a lower setting while in the range. Sometimes also, if I move my ears a little, the seal would break for a slight moment. Although it wont cause ringing in your ear when that happens, you will notice the seal breaking if a shot is fired near you. They didnt fall out when I was on the range. I tried to double up with these and ear muffs but their size pushed the ear plugs in where it was mostly incomfortable, unless you have oversized ear muffs. Good thing though, if you run out of battery, these can still be used as normal ear plugs. They include different sized foam plugs to try and also rubber plugs for comfort if you are using these for the gym or something, so far the rubber plugs are pretty comfortable

These are 100% fantastic shooting buds. The volume is better than Sony ear buds. The ambient amplifier is great I was able to hear birds chirpping at 60 yards away. The wind noise can be heavy in ambient mode but the easy to use buttons can quickly quite it down. All in all this buy was a win.

I ordered these primarily for shooting sports and to use for hearing protection while still being able to hear ambient noise. I found none of the supplied tips did a good enough job of fitting my ears that noise leakage made them unusable to provide the protection needed. I ended up buying better tips and have been able to make them usable. Ambient noise amplification does work well, still with they could provide a little better loud noise protection.

I am a range instructor and was looking for some in the ear sound protection with sound so I could talk to recruits while they were shooting. Well, I tried a couple different brands that were cheaper but none of them worked well. I thought that a name brand that was more expensive would be better and I was wrong. First they would not work together it seemed causing one to have sound while the other ear didn't which drove me nuts. Then we began shooting under some baffles and the speakers didn't shut off causing me to jump and immediately turn them off... My ears were ringing from it. Immediately I returned them. I would not use it you care about hearing. I continually had issues with them working, they never turned themselves off so the battery would always be dead. Even after a day I would walk close to them and my phone would automatically pair with them... And... They are ugly with the huge gold insignia. I literally have nothing good to say about them. Was very disappointed. Had to go with an over the ear... Hope to find an in the ear someday that actually works

Not having had any previous experience with Caldwell electronic hearing protection, I was somewhat skeptical about these - hoping they'd connect to bluetooth well, would cancel loud noise, and hoped the hear-through would work well. So I figured I'd give them a try and worst case could send them back if they were junk. But fortunately, I've taken them on several dove hunts now and am happy that they work great! They fit very well, are very comfortable, don't slip out of my ears, the battery lasts a long time, hook up quickly to bluetooth, hear-through works GREAT, and noise isolation works instantly to block off sounds when firing. All that said, I had hoped I would like them, and after using them a few times, I like them much more than I expected!

6 pairs later, and a lot of back and forth with support (who were great) still not functioning properly. Either a case issue or charging issue with one of the buds. Also one MAJOR flaw in the design, which all $20 headsets do- the power off button only shuts off the right ear piece. The left piece stays on and connected. Even in the charging case. At least the charging case should turn it off but it doesn't. Most of the time, the charging issue is usually with the left piece. Maybe the issues are connected( unlike the right and left ear piece). This really sucks, because I'll be using my normal phone headset, talking to some one on the phone, and I'll walk by the case and it will randomly connect to the left ear piece inside, and disconnect me from the set I'm currently using. Big fail! Took me awhile to figure out what was happening. Had to 'forget' the shadow max in Bluetooth setting to stop it from doing that. Then any time I want to use the Shadow Max, I have to repair. These things need an effective overhaul and redesign before being good. There seems to be better competitors on the market, that you can at least turn off. Nobody can blame me for trying to make it right and using their support service to make it right, only to lose my return window on Amazon. So much for trying to do business with an American company who "stands by their product". I would not recommend purchasing these, and I do not value Caldwell as a reputable company any longer. They only offered me credit on there website, most of anything that I might be interested in wasnt available, and anything that was available had terrible reviews, so it wasn't worth getting those either.

First off arrived well in advance of the time quoted. They are really comfortable and block out the noise well. I use them for clay pigeon shoot. You can also hear comfortably with them on and can turn it up as well if needed! If you play music through them they seem reasonable. Not aa good as maybe a dedicated music headphone but certain more than OK for what they are used for! Really happy with my purchase!
