CAF LIB Instant Coffee Substitute, 150 GR

My son had brought me a can from Canada. I tried to find it on Amazon and it said it was not available. Later i tried it again and bingo! was able to order it. It has a milder taste than Postum or even Pero and it dissolves easily.

Holy @#$&, that's a good coffee substitute! My doctor suggested I switch to decaf to keep my blood pressure down. I tried Sanka, and while that was okay, it aggravated my arthritis. (Something I didn't know could happen, but if you have rheumatoid arthritis, it's possible...) This, otoh, is great. It satisfying, but no caffeine. I might not miss coffee with this. Wish it was a tad cheaper, but I'll live.

I bought both the Bold and this original. I prefer the Bold versus this original a replacement for coffee. I prefer very strongly brewed black tea and McCafe Premium Roast-Medium coffee — if that helps comparison flavors. I gave this to my Mother who has enjoyed Postum and she loves this original version.

Next best thing to actual coffee. The taste is easy to get used to, so glad to have finally found “coffee” that I can drink.

Tastes pretty good. I add my cream and sugar and pretend I'm having coffee and it satisfies. Caf-Lib gives me the pleasure of coffee without the stomach pain. There is no wonderful caffeine boost but not let-down either. I most likely won't continue to purchase because of the extremely high price.

If for some reason you can't drink coffee or tea (acidity, caffeine aversion, etc.) but would still like a warm cup of SOMETHING with your breakfast, this CAF-LIB chicory and barley beverage is pretty great. If you think it's going to taste exactly like a freshly brewed mug of coffee, you'll be disappointed. I'd say that this tastes more like Taster's Choice instant coffee (it's texture and method for brewing is identical). It's sweeter than coffee without being sugary, it's got a lovely roasted grains flavour, and a nuttiness, that hints at coffee. It's quite nice with a little cream. My wife described it as tasting a bit like Ovaltine. Overall, would definitely buy it again, and if I was at a cheap hotel and this was served to me as 'coffee' I likely wouldn't bat an eye.

I have always loved Caf-Lib & was happy to find it again. This is a delicious drink that just soothes your soul.

Really love this product. It is definitely not coffee but is a superb substitute with distinct flavour. Only three ingredients, and well blended/balanced. If you actually read the label, there is no added sugar or any type of sweetener. The very small amount of sugar listed on the ingredient label is the natural sugar in the ingredients (mainly barley I believe). So for me it is a great before bed hot beverage as it is caffeine free and I sometimes top it off with a bit of honey. So darned delicious. Fair warning, do not buy this if you expect it to taste like coffee - it does not! It has its own delicious and unique flavour.
