Is this compatible with the big shot plus platform and cutting plates?

Yes it is. I'm using the plates from my Big Shot plus and they are fine. I've also used the plates from my standard Big Shot and they work well too. I've also tried with the chrome precision base plate which again works very well. Basically you can use any of your existing cutting plates with it.

Does this come with uk plug?

Yes it comes with a UK plug and an EU adapter.

What makes this better than a big shot/big shot plus?
