Know what I really miss? Remember that slot in your computer that you stick a CD or DVD into? I REALLY miss that! But, here's the next best thing. I'm now retired, but I still enjoy watching instructional videos relating to the biz I was in. A lot of it can now be downloaded. But, that means paying twice for one video. I Want My DVD! Here's the solution. This thing is very easy to attach to your computer. If an old guy like me can do it, you can, too. It plays both CDs and DVDs. Sorry, no Blu-Ray. Maybe someday. But it's primarily movies that were put on that format. I'd rather watch those on my seriously big TV. Standard DVDs work perfectly. In my experience, DVD-R works, as well, but I'm not sure that's a universal thing. And if you have favorite CDs you want to play while you work, you're in luck with this, also. This is an inexpensive solution to a problem that many of us have. I love it when things work the way they are supposed to!

This DVD drive works very well. It was easy to hook up and it worked with no trouble.

Works well, easy to use, portable. Points taken off because the connector due to how loud it is. The player periodically sounds like a small vacuum when reading.

This is a great little DVD player. My laptop is a 2015 Macbook and doesn't come with a dvd player. All I did was plug in and put in a disc and it played with no issues! Played several different discs so far and it has been great. Very quiet and lightweight and easy to use.

I have had this for about a year. At first it worked fine...but 1 year later it wouldn't read my dvd disks on my PC!! It get a 3 star becuz it did not last.

You presumably already know that most computers, and almost all laptops, no longer include a CD/DVD drawer standard. If you have information saved from a prior computer, software you need to download, or just hard-copy music you want to play, you need to purchase a peripheral. This one does what you need, assuming you already know what you actually need. By which I mean, if you insert a CD or DVD into the drawer, it has an onboard laser which reads the disk and transfers the received information to your computer. It’s no more noisy than other player devices, and it maybe lurches a bit as it reads your media, but once it gets past that, it works smoothly and quietly, delivering well-read media directly to your computer. Please know, this peripheral *only* reads your media. It has no included software for interpreting your media. While most Windows and Mac computers still include music player software that can read your music CDs, your computer may or may not have native DVD software. This may mean shopping in your computer’s preferred app store to find something to make your DVDs readable. Therefore the key is to manage your expectations. This peripheral will read your media, but you probably need to take the initiative to make sure your computer can turn the media into something you can read. If you limit yourself to what this device can actually do, then it is a pretty good value for the money. Just know that it can’t butter your toast in the morning before buying.

Super performance product i have used it for write & burn some DVD's ripped also working good passed in all tests thank you seller and Amazon, I'm writing this review after using 1 year.

Great quality for the price, it is small and compact therefore doesn’t take up a lot of space, it reads CDs really quickly, so it’s speedy in that department, I also had no trouble with connecting it to my PC. I would recommend as the price point is fair and you never know when you need it as most new models don’t come with built in CD/DVD readers anymore. If
