Affordable, Sturdy.. and easy to use!! love, love, love!!!
Fantastic keyboard... very lightweight and very easy to start using! I bought this keyboard when the keyboard on my brand spanking new Dell running Windows 8 started acting funky..Okay.. full disclosure.. I didn't pay a lot for my laptop.. I really just wanted something to surf the internet on.. to blog, send emails etc.. and also to watch movies on when I was in bed.. so I wanted it to have a very large screen.. So $350 later. this Dell laptop fit the bill... Sadly.. although it suits my needs, it isn't very durable.. and one evening it fell of my dining table.. my keyboard obatined a concussion and begin not functioning properly... instead of typing an "h".. I would get "h6"... instead of a "g" I would get a "g6"... it was pretty annoying.. I type pretty doggone fast 95 wpm with very few mistakes... With my keyboard in it's current disabled state.. it would take me an hour just to compose the simplest of emails.. with all the corrections I had to make... UGH! So annoying!!! Although the laptop was new and still covered under warranty, I couldn't find the doggone receipt.. so decided to do some research and figure out myself how to fix it... uh yeah.. that always works right? After a couple of hours of playing "tech wizard"... I read one response in a forum that just suggested buying an extended keyboard... There were tons of recommendations for this affordable Amazon Keyboard.. and so I ordered it... and so it showed up... I plugged it into the USB port.. and "VOILA"! I was typing again!!! They keyboard is FANTASTIC! I like it far better than my lapto keyboard... I really enjoy it when I type and can hear the "tick, tick, tick" of the keys as I type. The feel of the keyboard reminds me of those older word processing machines with the louder keys... some may be annoyed by it.. but I enjoy it! Aside from that.. they numeric keypad is also very great... it's a standard keyboard.. just plug this puppy in and start using it.. With the combo of my keyboard and my wireless mouse.. the fact that the keyboard on my laptop doesn't work doesn't even phase me.. I could care less... And if I may also admit.. it's pretty damn sturdy.. I'm a clutz and I've dropped it several times and even managed to step on it once.. LOVE this keyboard!! "10 out of 10.. would type on it again!" Enjoy!! I'm not a techie at all..

Amazon basics does it again! Great stuff!
UPDATE (DEC 2019): It's been a year and a half and the keyboard functions literally the same as it has when it first came out of the box. The only noticeable change from when I first purchased the product is the spacebar wear that shows on every keyboard ever made since the spacebar is the most pressed key on a keyboard. Otherwise there has been zero issues with this keyboard since day one and it continues to be a fantastic value. ORIGINAL REVIEW (MAY 2018): Amazon Basics is starting to be a brand that I like the more I use. I needed an inexpensive keyboard to attach to my laptop to improve my overall desk set up on a budget and the keyboard did just that and surprised me. Pros: Key travel is great. All are very responsive and feel great when typing. At this price you're not looking for a mechanical keyboard, but this is much more comfortable to type at high volumes than my laptop (Acer V5). Awesome dedicated buttons - Calculator on the top right, MyComputer button in the middle, music player button, and dedicated volume buttons are all included as single-press actions. I have all of these features on my laptop, but I have to press a function key and this really makes my life easier! F + J + 9 (D Pad) keys have a pretty solid bump for getting right to work without having to look at the keyboard. Number lock + Caps Lock do have green lights to indicate when they're on. Backspace and shift keys seem to work well and I'm not worried about how well they'll hold up over time. SHIFT and ENTER seem small but they work just fine without slowing down typing speed or accuracy. D PAD size is great number pad is great and playing around with the calculator didn't slow me down at all. Cord is pretty long so you shoudln't have an issue keeping it connected to whatever you need. Cons: Upon further examination, the space bar seems and sounds a bit shaky. I'm worried about how well it'll hold up over time. Then again, I've had other keyboards/laptops with similar issues. Being such a cheap laptop I'm not expecting it to last forever I just wonder if that's going to be the first thing that goes. I wish it was a bit wider of a keyboard. It feels like a normal size I just feel ever so slightly cramped for a dedicated keyboard. The high gloss finish of the body shows dust and smudges, I wish it was more of a matte finish like the keys. The rubber "feet" are not very grippy I had to put a pad under my keyboard (check photos) to make sure it didn't slide around while typing (that may just be me typing too hard). The "feet" are a solid bar on the back so if you like to prop your keyboard up further (you shouldn't it's bad for you), then that'll be a con as well. Overall: Great value. Exactly what I needed. Great price.

Works well and has standard size, but is not crumb resistant
I ordered this keyboard to replace a metal-based $300 fully programmable keyboard. I had used that keyboard (and other expensive ones) for decades, in order to avoid having to retrain my hands and habits as keyboards and systems changed over the years. I also used a programmable to transition from Microsoft Windows to Apple Mac in 2003. Today’s Mac operating systems have a feature for programming modifier keys (Option, Control, Command, and Caps Lock) that promises to make programmable keyboards unnecessary. (You can find this feature at System preferences→Keyboard→Modifier Keys (lower right).). For me, this feature's big defect is an inability to interchange the “Delete” and “End” keys to put them where my brain expects them to be. But I thought I could live with it. When my last programmable keyboard expired after a decade of use, I looked for something with a standard 104-key layout but more reasonably priced. This one seemed to have as close to “standard” placement and size of the keys and rows as I could find. I first bought one for a total price of $14.71 on July 29 of this year. With the aid of Apple’s modifier-key-interchange feature, I was able to get it to work for typing at my usual speed, except for confusing “Delete” and “End.” Out of the box, I would have given it five stars, in part for its low price. But I tend to eat while at the keyboard, sometimes compulsively. I had to replace this keyboard today, December 7, because of sticking keys. The sticking is probably due to hard crumbs from cookies that somehow got into the mechanism and stopped the space bar and a few other keys from springing back. I tried to shake the keyboard and pound on it---a tactic that often worked with the more expensive, durable keyboards. That only made things worse. So after less than five months, I’m replacing this keyboard at the lower price of $12.99. If I had to replace it every five months, over ten years it could cost me 120/5 x $12.99 = $311, about the same as a programmable that ought to last that time by itself. But I’m hopeful that, while I can’t train my hands to learn new tricks after over forty years of writing and computing a certain way, I might train myself not to eat at the keyboard. That would give me a healthier and more sanitary lifestyle. (If I find that crumbs are not the issue, I'll try to remember to amend this review; some day when I'm bored, I'll take the old keyboard apart and see what I can find.)

Touch Typer’s Dream
I purchased this keyboard for my PS4, specifically because it was wired, cheap and had a numeric keyboard and also in some part due to the rave reviews that people have given this product.Once i got the keyboard all setup i was pleased to see that there was nothing wrong with it and really have come to enjoy the key travel with this product.Within the game that i play on my PS4 there is a auction house like system so at least once per day that i play i am utilizing the games auction house system and spent prior to getting a keyboard about 20 to thirty minutes at least posting all the items up i got to sale, now since getting this keyboard and already knowing how to touch type i have cut down my time spent utilizing the auction house system to around five minutes .I did buy another keyboard prior to getting this one that was bluetooth and did as well have a numpad, however the problem with that one was that after the keyboard would go to sleep and was awaken again the numpad would not register in game anymore so that was a no go and soured me on the whole wireless keyboards for the game i play,so I landed up with this one,not only am i able to reliably punch in all the numbers i need to with the numpad, also my response to texts i may receive while in game are much quicker due to not having to wait for my keyboard to come out of a sleep mode as i would have to do in the past with my previous Bluetooth keyboard. In short the keyboards great, the price is stellar, its got a good weight to it and the key travel and sensation while typing on it is really nice, the sound i would say wouldn’t bother most people, not nearly as loud as lets say a mechanical cherry blue switch, but not the quiestest keyboard i have worked with either.

Much Better Than You'd Expect
I do a lot of programming and writing, so it's possible I am pickier than most. My complaint is mostly with the "action" of the keyboard. First of all, if you're looking for a cheap chiclet style keyboard that works and you're not worried about quiet typing or the "feel" then this keyboard is great. Under Windows 7 it was recognized quickly and the media keys (excepting sound on my laptop) worked right out of the box. The advantage to this keyboard and what it really has going for it is it's heavier than keyboards that are similarly priced. I.e. the Logitech at this price point is too light. Light keyboard sound like a fantastic idea until you put them into practice and they slide or move when you type. Amazon's is the right weight to stay where you expect and respond to forceful typing (hey, it happens). I've been looking for a keyboard replacement for my Apple Aluminum full keyboard. Even though it works in Windows/Linux just fine, the opposite placement of the "windows/command" key and the alt key make for annoying maneuvering. Its F-keys aren't full compatible either. So I decided to take a chance on this Amazon thin profile keyboard. I won't be keeping it for my home computer as it's noisy in my opinion and the action feels "cheap." It's smooth and everything, and if I only used my computer for email/internet browsing/maybe some gaming I would absolutely keep it. But I'm extremely picky about the way it feels to type on a keyboard since I do it for 8-9 hours at my day job and 3-4 hours at home working on my own stuff. For $10 or $11 you really can't go wrong with this if you want something that works great and is attractive (it's an elegant keyboard design compared to most clunky looking keyboards in this price range). The only thing I've noticed so far is that occasionally if you don't directly hit the key the stroke doesn't register. This hasn't been a problem for all the usual ones but I've missed hitting the Enter key on the number pad with my pinky when doing numeric entry a few times now. Not a large adjustment, but something to be aware of. EDIT/UPDATE: Go figure. This is now my main keyboard at home. I miss my mac aluminum keyboard, don't get me wrong. But this keyboard has been working wonderfully for me after I got used to paying attention to the occasional key not registering (only occurs if you hit the outer edge, not directly on). For working on it, I've put it through about 50 hours of straight code and I'm very happy. My business partner already picked one up as well to replace his. I'm still wishing it had feet that could raise it, but it's not a dealbreaker. Wrists are at a comfortable level.

Amazing value but not amazing overall
I needed a quick replacement for a USB keyboard that failed on me suddenly. I have plenty of old keyboards but none of them are USB so rather than buying an adapter, I figured this AmazonBasics USB keyboard is a better alternative for just a few dollars more. Here are my thoughts after a week of heavy use: PROS - Overall tactile feel and feedback is decent. The glossy feel is nice (thought I'd prefer matte) and typing makes little clicks (slightly louder than I'm used to) but I'm happy with it at the moment. - Hard to tell how durable it is long-term but it does not feel cheap. - I like having the volume keys on the keyboard, which is more and more common these days. CONS - Took me a few days to get used to the smallish keys. I'm not a regular Apple user so I'm used to keys touching each other (with no spaces between keys). - Since the keys are smaller, I have trouble finding the F and J starting points quickly. Ideally those keys would be have more substantial notches. - I wish I could adjust the tilt; it's not terrible but I'd like a few degrees more. For those who don't like typing on an angle at all, this keyboard cannot be laid flat. OVERALL Though not perfect, I gave this 5 stars because I believe this is the best keyboard I can get for its price. As a former gamer, I used to require much more advanced keyboards with much more functionality, like backlights and macro keys, but for what I'm doing today (doing work), this is very adequate. Happy with the purchase so far.

Good keyboard keys & feel, but function key layout is questionable - a deal-breaker for me.
The AmaonBasics keyboard arrived as advertised in a well-conformed box. The keys are standard low-depth compression & are not chiclet style, so the keys are slightly noisier than chiclet keys but are equally functional, and possibly easier to keep clean. The function keys are not arranged in three separate groups. What changes the game for me when I'm typing is the designers decided to throw in media keys right alongside functions keys! No other keyboard, save for some compact styles, would do that! So every time I reach for F12 I hit a media key! Ouch. The function keys are also not grouped in a set of three. I would keep the calculator key but lose the volume controls & these media keys that may well serve no purpose for standard typing. There are keys for scrolling and print screens which I think are indispensable. And the calculator key is included which comes in handy for accounting functions, often applicable for home & office computer work. And a nice feature is the light on the lock keys for caps/scroll/number. It's not called out in the picture but the lock-type keys do have a small green indicator so you can visually see whether the lock is on or off. The keyboard has a nice feel overall but the function keys are screwed up & the media keys really aren't needed on a 'basic' keyboard. Function keys are a requirement however & should be grouped in threes (F1-4, F5-8, & F9-12) without the media keys sitting squarely next to F12. With that said, the keyboard IS easy to use & scroll functions and key presses function as smoothly as they look to do in the advertised photo. It's a solid keyboard in material build with unfortunate situation of the FKeys for such a solid material build.

Almost a year later and still a fantastic keyboard
I went through a couple of different slimline keyboards like this before I found this one. I had actually pre-ordered it exactly one year ago and then waited anxiously for a few weeks until it finally shipped. I admit I had relatively low expectations given the low price and the bad experiences I had with the slimline keyboards I had tried before this one but those expectations were easily exceeded. The Good: The physical appearance is very good. It has a quality look to it. I don't care for keyboards with all sorts of extraneous keys that I will never use and this one delivers exactly what I want... the usual keys are all positioned right where they should be and the extras are limited to volume/mute keys, and 3 shortcut keys for music, My Computer and calculator. Key travel is nice and I never experience any discomfort while using it. This is as close to ideal as I've been able to find. The Bad: I can only think of two negatives and they hardly bear mentioning. The first is that the angle of the keyboard can't be adjusted. I'm fine with it's angle myself but I could imagine there are others who might like to angle it up a bit further. The second is that the keys can be a little noisy but it's really not that bad. Certainly quieter than many other keyboards I've used over the years. The best part is that it still looks good and performs perfectly a year later... and you can't beat the price.

A good entry-level or backup keyboard
What can be said about a bare-bones no-frills computer keyboard? Lots. First this a plug-and-play wired QWERTY keyboard. Advantages: Reliable performance, clearly marked keys, small workspace footprint. It is ideal as a desktop backup or for those whose laptop computer has a small confusing key array. Wireless keyboards may be convenient, but a single wireless keyboard can churn through a huge number of batteries every year. Disposal of those batteries is not only environmentally unfriendly but Murphy's Law says the batteries will die at the most inopportune times (think mission-critical deadlines). A wired keyboard avoids all that. This keyboard needs to be seriously considered by both two-fingered keyboardists and those who keyboard using the legendary Columbus Method (when you think you've found what you're looking for, land on it). Gamers and whiz-bang ten-fingered keyboardists need to look elsewhere for a fancier keyboard. This keyboard has all the usual keys in the usual places including a key for the Windows calculator and a key not commonly found: for Windows "My Computer". That key will be often used by those with a multi-partition system, which admittedly is not a majority of people. Next to that key is amusement, a key which calls forth Windows Media Player. Really. Now no one I have ever met actually uses WMP. Not when there's *vastly* superior freeware readily available (think WinAmp for audio and VLC Player for video - google them). There's even special volume control keys for WMP. You have to wonder what the designers of this keyboard were thinking. Speaking of volume, I've found the main all-purpose volume control buttons (located elsewhere) are often, but not always, slow to respond. This slowness is not the fault of the keyboard, but the poor design of Windows. Given the inexpensive price of this keyboard, have it kicking around in the event of an accident disabling your usual keyboard. (Ever spill a coffee on a keyboard? Ouch. RIP keyboard. It happens more often than you think.) Or get this keyboard for an inept child still struggling with basic keyboarding. Come to think of it, there's a few adults in that category, too. Note: This review was written with this keyboard. All errors and typos are the fault of the keyboardist and not the keyboard.

Sorprendentemente buona

Touches rapides, bon ressenti
