How have people been tying it together?

I went non u tube and it is a matter of threading it back on its self and tying knots. My bracelet has survived at least for the last 4 months and I am so happy that I was able to keep my sentimental bracelet.

I am looking for a string strong enough to tighten round a car trim clip, for removal. Will this really pull tight before snapping ?

Yes but when tying it I would dab a bit of glue on the knot to stop it unravelling
