The Sky Beyond the Storm by Sabaa Tahir is the soul-satisfying conclusion to the Ember in the Ashes quartet. The series is beloved by millions, and I am just another fan amongst many. The first three books were outstanding, and there was a lot of pressure on the author to deliver a fitting end (or beginning) to Laia, Elias and Helene’s journey, and the book did not disappoint. Seriously guys, if you haven’t read the series, I implore you to. It’s brilliant. I won’t dwell too much on the plot of the finale. If you haven’t read the previous three books, it won’t make much sense, and I don’t want to be giving away secrets you are better off discovering for yourself. The book and the series is full of heart-stopping twists and turns. Tahir creates a lot of intrigue by giving you just enough information in each book while maintaining an over-arching mystery. And, of course, each one ends with a cliff-hanger—a piece of the puzzle that remains to be solved, which leaves you thirsting for more. And thirst I did. There is action, and there is drama, there is love, and there is loss. In between, there are a generous sprinkling of epic battle scenes that will leave you, dear readers, bloody and bruised. But the one thing which stood out for me, above everything else (and there’s so much to love here) are the characters. I adored them all. Every single one of them. I loved the heroes in the story, but I loved the villains even more. Tahir makes both the human and fae complex and deeply flawed. The good guys sometimes hurt, maim and ravage, while her rouges love and cherish and forgive, and everyone is a little messed up. Okay, very messed up. And The Nightbringer, he is possibly the greatest foe of all time. Even better than Voldermort. Yes, I said it. I can sense some of you want to come swing and swipe at me with your clubs and your daggers, but I am more than ready to fight you all on this. There’s a war going, after all. But why, you ask? Because he is all too human, if you have felt joy and despair, hope and sorrow—you are him. If you’ve loved someone and lost someone—you are him. If you’ve been hurt and betrayed—you are him. If you are a parent, a child, a lover, a partner, a teacher, a friend—you are him. We are all the Nightbringer, and he is us. It was easy for us, as readers, to hate Voldermort because he had never loved and never knew love. It was convenient to see him as the other, to pick a side. In a sense, Rowling did all the work for us. But Tahir forces us to makes these choices on our own. And they are hard, oh so hard. I wept like every other page for the last one hundred pages of the book. A hundred times, my heart broke only to mend and then break again. I feel empty, but I also feel full. What more can we ask from our stories?

I needn't tell what the book's about because after reading it's prequels, you must be having a full clarity of this book. My opinion: Firstly, I expected a lot that this book would be next level because this book is the finale to the Ember quarter. So, don't think this book would be something special. No, it's the same. Coming to the plot progress, the plot progress is smooth and doesn't leave you bored. The book is again is said in three perspectives and how each of them tries to defeat the Nightbringer in their own way is what drives the book till the end. The book covers and conveys very good emotions of each character, like its previous ones but this one here is very deep. Emotions of love, loss, anger, vengeance, hope, strength, joy are well portrayed. The secondary characters like Darin, Musa etc. are also given a good role in the book and there's a lot of action and dramatic moments. What was my favourite in this book are the last ten chapters which turned the tables and after a lot of sadness, there are happy moments and a smooth transition to the ending. All I say is, don't expect something very special in this book. Just go with the flow of events and have patience. This book won't fail you. Beautiful series, nevertheless....

A Sky Beyond the Storm is the conclusion to the epic Ember Quartet, a tale that began with an introduction to characters who have become beloved to us! We have gone on long journeys with them through this series and Sabaa Tahir does a brilliant job bringing everything together in this epic conclusion. We have Laia of Serra, our fighter, survivor and Scholar. The Soul Catcher, formerly known as Elias Venturia, a former Mask who spends his time passing on the ghosts of the dead and trying to forget his former life. The Blood Shrike is a formidable character and even though she has many rough edges, it is easy to see how honor and duty as well as family are important to her. Keris Venturia, Elias's mother, but now the self-declared Empress, wrecks havoc and leaves a string of bodies wherever she goes. Strong as she is, she is an enigma until her story is finally explained in this book. Finally, the Nightbringer, aligned with Keris for his own reasons, he helps to bring about death and destruction. His end game? Well that is something we find out in this final book! The story brings all the characters together slowly as they allign, formulate plans to work together and try to win. Each has their own agenda and feelings or non-feelings as we have seen in the previous books, but one common thread holding all of them is love. The ability to care and love can make anyone do things beyond their expectation or imagination. We also have our favourite characters, Harper, Darin, Musa and some very unexpected characters make appearances and help carry the story along. Of course, not everyone can reach the finish line and some of the character deaths are devastating. There are moments of joy that make us smile and as the war progresses, a lot of the parallel story lines become clear and come to their own conclusions. There are no loose ends in my opinion. This is a story of loss, yes a lot of it, sadness, hatred, but also understanding and forgiveness. Knowing a person's Kehanni will help to understand who they are and why they are the way they are. The author weaves a magical and spell-binding tale keeping the reader enthralled until the very end. This is a fitting conclusion and culmination of the events that happen across all the books in the series!

I read this fast, and I read this slow. I just didn't want it to end! But the thrill overpowered and I dashed through so many chapters in the blink of an eye! The last time I felt this way was when I finished the Deathly Hallows. This masterpiece of a series deserves to be read by everyone, age no bar. And I hope we get to see the series getting made into movie or TV Series. Sabaa Tahir has done co.plete justice to each character, each story and each mystery. Kudos!

Oo my god! What did I just read.., I am into reading for years and trust me, this is the first book that made me laugh and cry at the same time. Sabaa Tahir is legit queen of ya fantasy.

I want to be clear that the rating is not reflective of my satisfaction with amazon's service, but of my opinions on the book itself. I pre-ordered it back in December and it was delivered on the day of it's release in perfect condition, so no complaints there. The story, however, is a different matter entirely. I'm a little conflicted with this book, I enjoyed parts of it but others fell flat for me. Tahir still manages to impress me with her prose, the writing is effortlessly beautiful. The book started off on a strong note, throwing us right into the action. The middle felt a bit lacking to me. There were interesting events going on, but they were spaced far apart. Still it was enjoyable enough, especially the characters and their relationships with each other. The ending, sadly, was disappointing to me - both as the end of the book and the finale of the series. Sure there was action, conflict and deaths but the resolution left me unsatisfied and a little cheated. I don't mind tropes - which this books is filled with - but if there's one thing I can't stand, it's deus ex machina. The ease with which the main conflict was resolved combined with the defeat-by-tragic-backstory trope left me thinking "THAT'S IT?!" Still, I will say it was worth reading and I'm glad I read this series. I just wish all the build up had led to a more satisfying resolution. I will be looking forward to Tahir's next project, I hope she has better things to come.

Amazingly done without the generic happy endings for every character. Could not love the way she tells her tales more.

Initial Thoughts As mentioned in my review of Reaper, I finished book 3 and waited approximately 30 minutes for the release of book 4. If I had waited 18 months, I’d have lost my mind. Some Things I Liked Emifal Firdaant. I can’t even tell you how much I cried when I read this. I won’t say much more because it’s a little spoiler-y but, every time this came up, I cried. HARPER. Didn’t think I could fall in love with a fictional character any more than I fell for him in Reaper, but Sabaa Tahir did it again. Harper was everything I wanted for Helene and he was the most incredible side character. I especially loved the Musa moment with Harper and Elias. It was very Rowan from TOG. Closure. This book gave me what I wanted. An ending that I was satisfied with but long for more of. I’d keep reading about these characters any day of the week, but I loved the way everything tied up. It wasn’t neat, it wasn’t perfect, but it was right. My forever buddy reader @lianne_the_bibliophile pointed out something to me that I just absolutely loved: An Ember in the Ashes = Laia A Torch Against the Night = Helene A Reaper at the Gates = Elias A Sky Beyond the Storm was the conclusion they all deserved. Sabaa Tahir did these incredible characters justice with this ending. Favorite Quotes “You are a torch against the night – if you dare to let yourself burn.” “Emifal Firdaant.” Series Value I would reread this series a million times over. I’m obsessed. What’s more, I would read any and all sequels, spinoffs, side stories, novellas, whatever, that Sabaa Tahir wants to write in this world or about these characters. Final Thoughts I don’t think I’ve cried this much while reading a book since I read Kingdom of Ash last year. Sabaa Tahir tore my heart out, stomped on it, put it back, and left a smiley face bandaid over it. This was by far the best series I read all year. I have a feeling no series will top this for a long while. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Recommendations for Further Reading Dark Shores by Danielle L. Jensen – if you enjoyed the legion and Roman inspiration in this series as well as the multiple POVs, try this series. Book 3 as well as a prequel novella are set to come out early in 2021. Caraval by Stephanie Garber – this seems like a crazy recommendation but hear me out. The lush righting and heartbreaking moments I lived for in Ember are all over the Caraval series. If you enjoyed the drama and twists, try this series.

Any book by this author is great, there is not a lot of profanity or set in her books but she is such a great writer her books are hard to put down .
