I’m really enjoying this!
This machine is fantastic and makes wonderful espresso. I bought it for its styling, overall good reviews, and to replace a machine I had that uses pods. I’m over the pods and want genuine espresso. I’ve seen a review where the person said you can’t make a good espresso with this no matter how skilled you may be, and that almost put me off buying it. But then I saw the same exact review everywhere touting another machine so I have to wonder if it’s legit because I couldn’t disagree more. My espresso shots come out beautifully dark with a long-lasting, reddish-brown crema. I specifically use espresso roast coffee beans that I grind fresh. I bought a solid, metal tamper, too, and that helped get the perfect shot for me. The machine allows some pretty cool programmable functions like adjusting shot size. Just keep the book so you know how to program it. The factory settings are great out of the box though. The frother works like a charm but takes some practice to master. I like that part of it is removable to accommodate taller cups; not something I use much but it’s nice to have the option. And it’s one sharp looking machine on my counter. It has the character I wanted and works with the mid-century feel of my kitchen. For the price, it was perfect for me because I wanted something a little high end and stylish. But since I’m brewing at home and not a barista, I didn’t need something super expensive with bells and whistles galore. This was a splurge item, but well worth it. The cons are, in my opinion, vastly outweighed by the pros, and they’re not deal-breakers. The tamper they give you is plastic, flimsy, and not good. Just go ahead and invest in a good metal one. Yes, the machine exterior is plastic. It’d be great if it were metal— that would be my preference— but it does have some serious heft to it already and doesn’t feel really cheap in my opinion. If it were all metal it might weigh a ton and cost substantially more. And it shines all the same. The metal grate your cup sits on tends to get scratched easily. It’s not horrible, just something that annoys me some. Some people have commented the water reservoir is small. It’ll hold two standard sized water bottles worth of water. For me it’s fine. I don’t have to refill it too often. And seriously, I’m glad it does have a reservoir. I do wish it came with a frother that was just a half inch longer or so. It froths so well that it’d be nice to pull the frothing cup down some without the danger of spewing milk everywhere- which happened to me once. Blame it on operator error. Like I said it takes a little practice. Just be sure to keep the bottom of the frother submerged. This will use pods if you want. I just haven’t tested it out with the pods. You can buy espresso roast coffee that’s already ground. Have tried that and it’s fine. I just think freshly ground gives a better taste and crema. There’s something nice about preparing a great espresso from start to finish. If I get around to it, I’d like to post a video. The only English video I found was of this lady whose skills made me look like a barista king and she didn’t utilize it to its full potential. All the other videos I could find were in Dutch, French, Russian, or artsy adverts that said nothing on using it. I’ve had this machine for a month so I can’t comment on how long-lasting it is. Apparently, as with all espresso machines, users need to care for it and keep it clean to ensure it has a good life. But if it works well over an extended period of time then I would totally buy it again. Love it. Overall I rate it 5 stars because I can overlook its minor flaws and at the end of the day it brings me joy and makes a great espresso.

Machine isn’t just beautiful it makes great espresso and cappuccino
I’m not new to making espresso. The consistency of this machine is on point. The espresso not watery and crema is amazing. The flavor is full every time. By time I wake up and press the on button I have a cappuccino in 3 minutes. Don’t pack it to much. There are extra setting to turn a single shot a little longer or shorter and the same for a double shot. The machine will turn off automatically after 9 minutes although you can set it for 30 or like 3 hrs automatic turn off which is great for an early riser like me. I Also can adjust the temperature of the water I like mine super hot. Nothing much to it at all. I’m excited again for an early cappuccino. I highly recommend this machine. It’s expensive but it makes great consistent coffee. This is my 3rd machine and by far the best. I’m so glad I got it. . ✌🏻

Daughter Loved it!! So Cute
Daughter loved it for her first Anniversary present. I had bought them another brand that was a couple hundred dollars cheaper in the same color. Had mixed reviews But thought I’d take the chance and it broke on them the first week. I was so upset. I returned that one and bought a smeg. Yes I paid more then I wanted to spend but let me tell you well worth the extra money. Especially for my daughter who is a espresso snob and makes espresso coffee several times a week. She used to be a barista so she knows her stuff. She was very happy with this brand and model. Said it made strong coffee verses the other one I had originally purchased for her. I stick by my motto- you get what you pay for!

Crema, Crema, Crema!
The Smeg espresso machine pulls a fantastic shot of either your personally favorite ground coffee ( mine is a Barista Bean) but an ESE paper pod will do the trick. Either way, this machine is a keeper amongst all my other machines. Smeg advertises they’re a leader and now I know why. They offer 3 sizes for your favorite shot. Mine is a dupio times two every morning. I definitely recommend getting a Smeg for your collection or for a beginner is quite an investment. Three cheers for Smeg!

Unreliable cheap junk. Don’t let the high price fool you. SMEG is not a quality brand anymore.
We had this same machine for about 3.5 years but it quit working due to some software failure. We liked the style and size so we unfortunately decided to replace the broken one. It died just like the first one after only 3 months. Some software bug prevents any of the buttons from doing working. Reset has no effect. Called support line. They were not able to help and suggested we contact the seller. Purchased from amazon. Return window closed. SMEG should warranty their product, not Amazon. Will never buy a product from this company again. Poor build quality. Cheap plastic. Better value available with other companies.

Not the easiest to use, but good and tasty
Still getting the hang of the product so may have to adjust my rating upward. Incredibly happy with this seller (Peppercorn)--shipped quickly, arrived safe and securely packaged. Will definitely order from them again.

The best cup of coffee
Love smeg for its home decor but functional feel. The perfect cup of coffee with big design.

Perfect for this man.
Takes a little practice, but performs exactly as designed and advertised. Perfectly authentic espresso is now happily part of my morning.

Great features in a small package.
So far, we love it. We own a few SMEG appliances and find them to be of superior quality. Our old machine (Kitchen Aid) quit after two years, so we opted for something of higher quality. SMEG puts a lot of features into their products. This has an automatic shutoff if you forget to do that, and it has a pre-measured pour that you can adjust to fit your own cups. The steamer works very well and it looks great on our breakfast table. It even takes up less space than our old machine.
