Fix A Leak Pool Leak Sealer - 8 oz

My newly acquired almost 20 year old hot tub had leaks some visible and some unknown not loosing a whole lot of water but still an issue with winter temps setting in. Did the obvious jet sealer, checked plumbing ect but this Dimension one spa is heavily insulated. Digging in is not fun and a repair tech will cost you a fortune! I googled spa leak repair and this product came up #1- I read the reviews and like with many of you skeptical! I received the product and after careful review of many of your feedback, Very helpful Thank you ! I designed my own fix it- I removed the filter, heated the product, shake well and dispense into the filter dispensing slowly a half a bottle approx for 350 gal +|- I left cover on at 103 degrees, I let all jets run for 3 hours resetting every 30 min then after 3 hours alternated the jet setting. Within 3 hours leaking at some areas was stopped, after 6 hours added a little more product and let cycle, no visible leaks, water loss or any build up to clean. At 10 hours 100 degrees turned off tub and will let product cure overnight as a review suggested. Will have update for you tomorrow, when power to tub is back on w all jets running and will see if any water loss. I'm sold on this product as I bought another bottle today for back up as it is mentioned during winter temps 4-6 month hold and during mild conditions up to two years! This product is fantastic !! Highly recommend ! UPDATE: Its been 3 days total, NO leaks !! This is an amazing product and unlike other reviews I had no visible clean up. Filter is back in and will filter 36 hours which should filter any residual product as I will not be draining the tub. I will then replace with a new filter and keep old incase I need to use this product again. Will check back if any change is the success of this product! I am more than pleased!

It worked for me. I have a 16 year old portable hot tub that I recently had to push back on to it's side to replace the drain fitting at the bottom and it sat empty on it's side for probably 8 months. I had taken all the skirts off to do that work, and when I went to refill it discovered it was now losing water. It was losing water from the hose connections, the gasket that goes in the middle of the jet, and the gasket that seals against the surface of the hot tub shell. It was not a huge amount of water but an overwhelming project to take on, so I gave this a try and super happy that I did. You can see in the before an after photos, the product forms a kind of plastic seal where the water comes out, that eventually hardens and keeps any more water from coming out. I did feel like the tub was still leaking a little at day 4, and then we had 3 days of rain, and after that there were no more leaks.

This review was originally written on 23 Oct 2014; updated today, 20 Nov 2014. I have a 10-year old 500 gallon hot tub with 6 pumps running the heater, filtering system, and 84 jets. Inside the shell, all the parts and plumbing are buried beneath sprayed-on foam insulation - in some locations as much as 6" thick. Over the years I have replaced two of the jet pumps which had piping connectors that I had to dig-out of more than 4" of foam insulation; that arduous and messy experience taught me that there was no hope in finding the source of a leak underneath all of that foam. In May of 2014, When my tub developed such a leak, I sought an alternative to tearing the tub apart and stripping-out the foam. I watched several you-tube videos wherein other SPA owners facing similar challenges used a "Seal A Leak" product by "SPA Choice" and avoided the task of tearing down their tubs. Although skeptical, I decided to give it a try; in June, I bought the product through Amazon but it came to me from a third-party distributor; it worked at first, but then failed over time (about two weeks) - subsequent treatments with the same product gave no better results. Then, in July 2014, I found this product (Fix A Leak) on Amazon and decided to give it a try. My initial treatment in mid-August 2014 was half the bottle through the filter chase; since then, until now (20 Nov), it had been holding up well. I wrote my first review for this product on the 23 Oct after it had held-up for about 3 months. This past weekend, I noticed my tub has begun to leak again, at about the same rate that it had leaked before the first treatment. Although it's leaking again, the empirical evidence suggests this product is superior to the other because this one held-up for four months as opposed to two weeks. I retreated the tub today (20 Nov), and will again if necessary; the prohibitive high-cost of service and parts dictate it warrants a try. I will tear the tub down only after giving this product multiple chances to prove itself incapable of a permanent fix. It has worked for me, never mind it was only four months, that's better than spending $2,000.00(+) with no guarantee their repair won't leak again after only three months - at least here locally, none of the techs I spoke with will warranty their leak-repair work beyond 90 days. After several discussions with multiple technicians, I've concluded the industry's permanent solution to a leaking Hot-tub is to replace it. New, my tub cost more than $7K ten years ago; today, one like it, will cost twice that amount. At a cost of only $15 bucks for this 8oz bottle, what can you lose? Your SPA's leaking already, or you wouldn't be reading this review, and this little bottle is certainly cheaper than a service call - in this area a service call is $150.00 just for the tech to show-up and look at it. I recommend you give this product a try - if necessary, several times.

I'm officially perplexed by the results of this product. My hot tub was slowly leaking from the back area covered in spray insulation. I added the fix-a-leak and the area appeared to start getting dry. Shortly afterwards I did a full water change and the leak has returned. I'll give it one more try without doing a water change right away and see if it makes a difference. UPDATE - Bottle number 2 arrived. I used it per the directions and once again the leak is gone. This time I am not doing a water change. So far, no leak! I contacted the manufacturer about my mixed results and they told me: "What I would do for the next application, after you feel comfortable that the leak has stopped. Turn all the pumps off, with the water remaining in the tub let sit for 48 hours. After this time drain the tub wipe down well let sit empty for 5-7 days. 5 days should be fine unless the tub has been leaking for a long time." Maybe in the summer if the leak returns, but for now I'll just hope that the second bottle with no water change did the trick. We'll see what happens at the next water change... stay tuned!

I have about 8 leaks in my hot tub (La Spas - every jet has leaked!) so I tried this product. I had tried a similar product before but thought maybe I did not do it right so I was careful with this. I put in an 8 oz bottle even though my tub is only 450 gallons. It seemed to fix several of the leaks but 2 were not open to the air so I though that might be a problem. I ran the solution in the tub for 5 days then let it dry for 5 days. Then I dug out the foam on the 2 mentioned leaks and added another bottle of Fix a Leak. Ran it for 3 days - did not fix the 2 leaks even though one was very minor just a few drops a minute and none when pump was off. Drained the tub let it dry for 3 days then used Plast - aid on the 2 leaks. When I filled the tub all leaks were back except the past-aid ones. There is no way I can recommend this product - it just does not work! It also leaves a residue on every surface but that seems to be cleanable. BTW the past-aid seems to work well I will review that after some experience.

My Sundance hot tub was leaking water at about 5 gallons daily. Service guy said it was a difficult fix, pipes were underneath. I took out the filter and slowly added Marlig so it would get sucked into the intake. Next day, there was no drop in water. 15 days later, water level was still unchanged, not leaking! After about 20 days, the pool level dropped about 6 inches. Refilled the tub and repeated the process. Again, it stopped the leak immediately. Filter is still out. Will see how things go, I will update my rating either way depending on what happens. Also noted that one of the jet outlets was very sluggish after use; it may have plugged it. More to come. Well, I added the second bottle and it has held now through April. I have not returned the filter to the tub, continued with routine chemicals. The tub is not crystal clear, my suspicion is that there is residual particulate from this product that may be helping to continue stopping the leak, like platelets that clot blood. (Sorry for that analogy, I am in health care!) That being said, it has not dropped any water in the past 4 months! That is a whole lot better than having to refill 20 gallons every day, or worse having to replace the tub. I plan to change the water, install a new filter and will then see how it does. My review started with 3/5 stars, now up to 4/5 stars. Bottom line, if you are in dire straits, go for it, you have nothing to lose and may buy you more time. 04/25/21- Filter is back in, so this is NOT a permanent fix. You will stop the leak as long as the sealer stays in. Disappointing, but still cheaper than a new tub at this time. Back to only 3 stars

surprised but it actually worked. Leak stopped after 24 hours

I used this on our 8 year old Dream Maker Odyssey spa that began losing two to three inches of water every five to six hours. I had checked the pump, fittings and hoses around the motor and found no evidence of any leak and it seemed very likely one or more of the jets was the source of a pretty significant leak. I read several positive reviews (as well as some that were not positive) and like most others concluded it was either give this a shot, pay for a who-knows-how-much service call that wouldn't result in a fix or just turn the spa into a giant planter, Within a few of hours after applying Fix a Leak there was no sign of any drop in the water level...24 hrs later and still the water level remained constant. It's been 3 weeks of heavy use now with no sign of any leak or water loss apart from normal and minimal evaporation. I used roughly 4 ounces of the 8 oz bottle and application and clean-up was a snap. While it's a shame that not everyone got the same stellar results when using Fix a Leak, I couldn't be more satisfied with this product and will keep it on-hand to reapply if needed. Just one additional comment, I did not drain the spa as some others have mentioned, there was very little residue of the product after application which I scooped out very easily. I mention this because it seems that many who did drain and refill their spa found that the leak returned and although this step is recommended it appears it may put additional stress on the seal...though I'm not sure why. I'll be draining/refilling my spa in a few weeks and will report back if any problems/leaking re-emerge afterwards. UPDATE: I did a complete drain and re-fill a month or so after initial application and this review. Still no leaks. Great product. UPDATE: Well, here it is 2018, a few years since the original review and I discovered the spa was leaking again---added the remaining amount of the Fix-a-Leak and "boom," leak stopped within a few minutes. We've been using the spa for a couple of weeks now, no issues.
