I have the large one and the smaller one. Get the large one. It made tramming my mill a whole lot quicker/easier. Sure, you'll go crazy trying to get that last .0001 tilt out, but it will be close enough. I use my mill to bore small motorcycle and scooter cylinders. I set the cylinder up on the mill, center it with a dial indicator, and then run the dial indicator down the cylinder wall to check for tilt. Comes out pretty much dead straight. My opinion, for the money, it is a good deal.

Your question got me curious. After 30 minutes of digging, I have no idea. There is nothing in the description, on the website, or in the documentation included with the item that suggests a hint of its origin.

What is the point to point dimension from indicator to indicator?

Each dial indicator has a 5 inch spread between the two tips. I do wish that it was about 12-20 inches wide but it would cost so much more. Super easy to use, comes in a nice case as well.
