This workbook is addressed to beginners in the Greek language. The basic verbs, articles, nouns adjectives, and prepositions and their declination can be found here, along with their explanation in English. With this workbook, every student who speaks English can practice the basic grammar (A1 / A2 level) in modern Greek. The translation from Greek to English is actually an explanation of Greek grammar and in general of the Greek way of thinking, rather than a translation with the literal meaning. That's the reason for which the reader can find several grammar and syntactical inaccuracies in our English "translations". Also contains: several type exercises grammar tables for each chapter explanation of each sentence in English vocabulary answer keys to all exercises Review: An essential supplementary resource - When I first opened this book, I was a bit sceptical that it was really aimed at beginners. But that was because I got it more or less the day I started to learn Greek. 2-3 months later (and still very much a 'beginner' by any standard), I can now say it's indispensable. I'm using a mix of resources and the exercises in this book work well alongside all of them. None of my other resources offer nearly enough grammar practice, which is where this book comes in. Review: Quite expensive for a slim book. - Somewhat overpriced. We also bought the 'Dummies' Greek book today. For ยฃ3 more we got 308 pages of grammar and exercises compared to 91 pages in the Vasilopoulos workbook (photo shows both books for comparison of size and value for money.)

Exactly what I needed to understand nominative and accusative cases
This workbook has been a game-changer for me on my learning Greek journey. I found the exercises really good, they were repetitive enough to aid learning but never too much that it felt like a grind. The explanations were clear, this was the first time a workbook has actually helped me understand how the nominative and accusative cases work. Really easy to pick up do a few exercises, put down and come back the next day ready for more. Iโve tried many workbooks, tutors and online courses over the last two years and this workbook is an amazing find. Brilliant! Thanks

Great for practice
I am learning Greek in a school but I am terrible at practice and revision. That is where this book is great, it reminds you of the theory then goes over and over the practice again and again building vocabulary at the same time. It is very methodical and gives english translations with greek syntax so you start to understand sentence building. It did have a couple of mistakes in the answer section but nothing major. I liked that the exercises are short so I could pick it up and learn something in just five minutes if thats all I had. Absolutely recommend this book to help on you Greek language journey.

Exactly what I needed!
This book has been amazing at advancing my understanding of Greek. I can read the Greek alphabet and have done Greek on Duolingo for a few months already, so I have some understanding of pronunciation and basic phrases. This book has supported me to understand the grammar and why things are the way they are, which is difficult to learn independently. I could not recommend this work book enough if youโre like me and starting your Greek journey but have a small amount of prior knowledge.

Not for beginners
it expects a starting level too high for a beginner, would be useful with a mother tongue teacher in a lesson but definitely not on your own.

Nearly perfect for me
The work is just the right level for me at the moment and I will use it again. I realised the fault of this book in the digital format only at the end because it's a huge hassle to check answers. To flick over a page to check or see your answers is okay but to go right to the back of the book is a faff that I wouldn't undertake. So from that point of view I only know if I am correct when I am very confident, so I didn't learn only confirm. That is not to say that the book fails to support learning but it would more reassuring to check and correct after each exercise, which is currently not in any sense convenient.
