A very good fan
UPDATE: I wrote the review below in August 2024. Now, at the end of July 2025, the fan is still going strong. Everything I wrote in the Pros and Cons still holds true. It's gotten constant use this summer, and I'm still very pleased. The lowest setting is still silent, the medium setting is still very quiet but not silent, and the turbo setting is still not annoyingly noisy. Pros: This fan has been in constant use for the last 3 weeks, rarely shut off. It's still quiet and I'm very pleased with it. It's very simple and easy to put together, even without instructions, especially if you've assembled an electric fan before and are familiar with the basics of how they generally fit together. And if you haven't, there are instructions in the box. No tools required. The lowest setting is virtually silent, even standing directly in front of the fan, which is a really excellent feature. The air flow is gentle and steady, and would probably not keep you awake either. The next setting is not noisy, it's just not silent, but it's very quiet, with a more noticeable air flow. The highest (Turbo) setting isn't noisy either, as fans go these days, but it's the noisiest setting on this fan. It provides the highest air flow, which is perfectly fine as long as you're sitting nearby (within 6') and not across the room. The fan feels sturdy. There's nothing distracting about the way it looks or sounds, so it's easy to forget it's even there. It rotates quietly, sweeping 180 degrees. Cons: It is not the most powerful fan on the market. It is expensive, and could probably be sold at a lower price, but I did not feel ripped off or cheated. Summary: It works really well. I would buy another one if I needed another fan. I have several "Comfort Zone" fans that are around the same size, and are more powerful, but they are noticeably louder. In my opinion, the very best fan, which is slightly larger than the "Comfort Zone," is the Lasko fan, but I haven't been able to find that model this year. The Lasko is a very powerful fan, but it is also noticeably louder than the Rowenta fan. If you can afford to splurge a little, and really need a silent fan to set on your bed-side table or your desk, I would really recommend the Rowenta.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION STILL LIVES UP TO CLAIM
03 April 2023: This is an unsolicited, uncompensated 2nd review of the Rowenta VU2660 3-speed Table Fan with Remote Control. I last reviewed this same item on May 5, 2022. As before, I still rate the product with 5 stars for its quality and performance. Today we placed an order with amazon for our second fan. I am pleasantly surprised to see that the fan now costs about 10 dollars less than a year ago. Today also marks the day that we performed our first cleaning of this fan. As other owners have mentioned, it is relatively easy to use a Philips screw driver to loosen the one screw that holds the plastic band that keeps the front and rear grill cages together. Next, like most similar fans from other manufacturers, there is a knob with a reverse thread which holds the fan blade to the motor shaft. This is rotated CLOCKWISE to release the blade. Then, there is the plastic knob (with a 'normal' thread) that is turned COUNTER-CLOCKWISE to release the rear grill from the motor housing. After cleaned the blade and grills, it was time to re-assemble the fan. Now here is where things got frustrating. After attaching the rear grill and placing the blade back on the motor shaft, it was time to align the rear and front grills and place the plastic outer ring around them. All this while trying to screw the two ends of the plastic ring with the one Philips screw. This seemingly simple procedure requires three hands, and a lot of patience. Virtually every other table fan that I have owned utilized simple clips on the outer ring of the front grill, making it easy to align the two grills. The manufacturer of this fan should re-think their design and do away with the plastic band with the single screw. Aside from the re-assembly fiasco, this is still a great fan and highly recommended. My previous review is shown here: Purchased this product from amazon to replace a similar table fan, which had failed after about 20 years of use. For convenience, we sought out a replacement fan that included remote control capability. There were not many choices to choose from in this fan size. This fan, like the one it is replacing, will be used in our bedroom. It will be convenient to remotely control this fan from the comfort of our bed. To comment on other reviewers' comments: (1) the fan does require some assembly, but nothing beyond the skill of most people. The only problem encountered was with the single screw for tightening the front grill. It was difficult to turn at first, and it took a few twists to loosen up the threads. (2) some reviewers felt that the beeping sound was too loud when the functions were changed. One reviewer suggested pulling out the circuit board to disconnect the speaker. Personally I did not find the beeps too loud or annoying in any way. (3) Other reviewers complained that the retail price was too high. In many cases you get what you pay for. Yes, the fan contains a lot of plastic, but the motor housing is heavy and robust and appears to be of high quality. This fan claims to be "The Most Powerful, Quietest Fan" and I can readily attest to the validity of this claim. This fan is highly recommended for anyone needing a quality small table fan with the convenience of remote control capability.

I'm a huge fan of this fan!
You're going to think I'm crazy but I own 6 of these fans. Well, technically I own 3 of the desk fans and 3 of the pedestal version but they're essentially the same fan. But, as with most consumer products, the features some people love will be hated by others. It just depends on your specific needs. One thing I think most people can appreciate in a product is its durability. I'm writing this review after more than 5 years of ownership, and can tell you that all my fans still function just as good as the day I bought them. My only complaint is that of the 6 fans I own, I think only two of them came with the required CR2032 battery for the remote (and one of those batteries was already dead and had to be replaced). It's a minor complaint that I'm willing to overlook given how great the fan is otherwise, but be prepared to purchase remote batteries separately. The reason why I love this fan so much is for the super quiet and gentle "sleep" mode. It's pretty much the only setting I use out of the 5 available. What I like about the mode is not because it's actually silent (fan noise doesn't bother me) but because the breeze is extremely slight. This is my preference for sleeping as I tend to sleep hot but too much air will make me cold. To this day I still haven't found another fan that has a setting comparable to the Rowenta. For me personally, this is the PERFECT sleep fan. But there are times when I do appreciate how quiet this thing is. And by quiet, I mean SILENT. I keep one of these in my home theater for when I get too hot but don't want a fan that makes distracting noise; I am AuDHD (autistic and ADHD) and have difficulty blocking out distractions and unwanted sensory stimuli in my environment. This fan does not overwhelm my senses the way others do, which is why I love them so much. I highly recommend this fan for anyone needing a desk fan. With 5 settings, this fan should accommodate nearly anyone: those who want a gentle breeze and those who want a hurricane in their face... Or both! Oh, and it's very stylish too!

Best bedroom fan ever
I wanted a quiet fan for my bedroom. I didn't need it to move a lot of air, but I did want some circulation in the room. Reviews said this thing was quiet so I gave it a shot. This is THE quietest fan I've ever used. I can't stand the 'white noise' or 'pink noise' fans. I just wanted air. This is my 'mystery breeze' fan. In bedtime mode, I can barely hear it. Just a quiet little him from the motor, no rushing air noise etc. I get up in the morning and don't even know it's still running until I go back into the room for something and wonder where the little breeze is coming from. I have searched long and hard for a fan I could sleep with and I've finally found one. It provides enough air so I can sleep, and after the first minute or so I can't even hear it. Awesome. When cranked up it will make a little air noise but even then it's not much. It doesn't put out what I would call a lot of air, but then, that's not what I bought it for. I have plenty of fans if that is the goal. This one moves plenty and it's quiet. Seems well built so I would imagine it'll be around a while. Spendy, but I'm glad I got one.

Versatile!! (but one small downside)
Was a bit skeptical because I couldn't find much substantial info on the "whisper quiet" stuff, but this is a great fan. It gets really powerful, but it also has a "whisper mode" that is really slow but really quiet. All motor hum essentially vanishes on this mode, but frankly it's still pretty quiet on the next highest setting which has a little motor hum and a little air noise, but pushes quite a bit more air. (I personally appreciate the lack of remote control on this fan; one fewer thing to lose and try to remember what it went with. I also thought the setup was fine.) Only issue I have with it are the feet; they suck. They do nothing to prevent the vibration of the fan from going down into whatever it's placed on, and if that thing isn't like, the floor, you're gonna hear that and it's going to make the fan louder. I was able to mitigate this by putting a folded sheet under it, but I just replaced that by cutting out little neoprene foam rounds and putting them under the tiny, wimpy little feet that are on top of the base. (That's just what I had on hand, but I'm sure basically anything will work to help stop the vibration.) Once you do that, though, this fan is extremely versatile. I'm using it to get airflow in my room while I record/stream, for me the second-quietest setting is good enough for pretty much every application, but if you're using a really sensitive mic, the whisper quiet mode will be great for you.

Best fan ever!
Let me start by saying that I have been using oscillating fans for a number of years, and use them around the house for a range of purposes. I've become accustomed to inexpensive, generic, snap together fans that do well enough, but develop various issues over time. I was used to paying like $29.99, but I guess those days are over, and this was the only listing for an 18" fan. So I bit the bullet and ordered. BEST DECISION EVER! The first thing I noticed as I unpacked was the weight of the motor and body. It's heavier, as in, more substantial. At each stage of assembly, I noticed thoughtful engineering touches and quality parts. Most striking, and in contrast to any other fan I've ever had, the front of the grill is secured by a lock ring that is tightened by a tension screw โ not some plastic snap clips as is usual. And the grill is metal. So, ok, noticeably better design and quality construction. But it gets better from here. I don't know if it's due to the 5-blade configuration, but the fan is so much quieter on any setting than any other fan I have. I think it's the blade design, the secure metal cage, and a stronger motor that all contribute to a quieter fan. Ok, and the last really cool thing is, it's a 5 speed fan. Low โ Med โ High of course, but there's also a super low Night mode and a super high mode. The super low is called Night mode, and it's a steady, but gentle movement of air with zero sound at all. I keep it alongside my desk all day in this super low mode just to remove the stale air from around my workspace. The mode is also good at night, in conjunction with my air conditioner, to keep the air moving, without causing an annoying draft. I haven't needed to use the Turbo high mode, but I tried it and it's a fan running at full blast. 5 starts doesn't begin to tell it. Thanks to the seller โ Best Fan Ever!

Some Assembly Complaints But Worth The Trouble
Okay, so there are some issues, but only in the assembly. Great fan in the end. Assembly is not straightforward unless youโve done it before, and there are only lousy tiny pictures for instructions, no words. Thereโs a big plastic nut (no wrench needed) that holds the fan blade on that has to be removed to put things together. Itโs REVERSE THREAD, so take note. Having a second pair of hands standing by is helpful in a couple of steps, but not absolutely necessary. And no, they donโt include a 2032 battery for the remote, which is bizarre for a nearly $100 fan. Shame on them. Sure, it makes a quick beep when changing modes, but itโs not as loud as some are saying. It would only be a problem if someone else in the same room was a light sleeper. Very nice looking, which is a plus. For todayโs world it feels pretty solid and good quality. Yes, itโs got a plastic base but itโs not flimsy and the whole unit is pretty sleek and fits together well. The weakest design flaw is the plastic band that holds the two halves of the blade guard together. Some things to note: Use the correct size Phillips screwdriver to tighten the band (duh); you donโt want to bugger up the screw. Donโt remove the screw entirely - itโs not necessary. Place the two halves of the fan guard together and press the band onto the second half. There will be a little โsnapโ as it connects the two pieces together. Do this in several places until itโs completely in place, then tighten the clamp screw CAREFULLY and slowly until itโs just snug. Donโt over tighten - itโs not necessary, and youโll run the risk of stripping the plastic threads. Iโve bought two of these now, the second a year after the first, so that should say something. The fan itself is as quiet as Iโve ever heard. At the lower speeds itโs basically silent. At higher speeds it does make some sound, but itโs less than any fan that Iโve ever had that moves that amount of air. Not objectionable all. Oscillation is very quiet too, and after a year itโs just as quiet as it was brand new. Overall, in spite of the assembly issues, I still give it five stars.

Love This Fan
WELL worth the money. I love these fans. I own 3 of them and will never buy another brand. Multi speed, quiet mode, and it can really move the air.

El diรกmetro es un poco mas pequeรฑo que el estรกndar, pero por eso es mรกs prรกctico y aรบn asรญ le aire que emite es mayor que los de su tipo (de pedestal estรกndar). Es una buena inversiรณn, ya que su precio es mayor pero vale mucho la pena. Para su limpieza tambiรฉn es fรกcil pues son un desarmado se afloja un tornillo y se quita la carรกtula.

A Super Quality Desk Fan At A Great Price
I did not gat paid or receive anything for this review. I personally paid for and purchased this item at Amazon.ca First : There is no remote with this model but it does have a beautiful chrome dial knob that looks very distinctive and like all Rowenta products this unit is super quality and works absolutely great. The stand is black and is slightly oblong and not completely round. The motor is also a black and the Fan Blades are a baby blue colour ( common on all Rowenta Fans ) with the front and back fan blade guards are a high lustre chrome. The Rowenta Name Plate on the the front chrome fan guard is black. The unit is brain dead easy to assemble and took me less than 5 minutes to complete the assembly. The only tool required is a philips screwdrivers to join the two fan guards together. There are four speeds on the dial / knob > Speed 1 and 2 and Turbo and Silent mode and the unit can either oscillate or be directional by pulling or pushing the black plastic peg on the top of the fan motor. The Silent mode is super quiet just like it is on the 16 inch models and the turbo is very powerful and not that noisy. When you select Turbo or Silent mode on the dial / knob a white LED indicator appears on the base indicating that you're in that mode. At the current Amazon.ca price of less than $60. for this black model, I personally consider this a BEST BUY in table fans. There are several similar Rowenta Table Fan models available that have remotes that have identical output of air and silence mode specs for more than double the price of this black model. Due to the location of this table fan the remote was not important to me so I saved more than 50% on my purchase. I have 3 of the 16 inch Rowenta Stand fans ( Silver / Black / Chrome models with remotes ) through out the house and it is my opinion and experience that any of Rowenta Extreme Fans listed on Amazon.ca will be the best fans you will ever purchase. All the Rowenta fans I have purchased over the years have all been super quality when they arrived and are absolutely beautiful to view and have all performed flawlessly over the years. I hope you enjoyed my review of this product. .

Best fan I've ever had, but not perfect
Nicest desk fan I've ever had. The motor is nearly inaudible, unless your head is right next to it (except on high). The fan blades make more noise as they move through the air, but are also surprisingly quiet for the amount of air being moved. The "night mode" lives up to its name and is pretty much completely silent, but only provides a light breeze; the "low" setting is almost silent and is a good compromise between low noise and air movement. Girlfriend prefers leaving it on "medium" overnight (providing a good stiff breeze), and the noise is still low enough to sleep with it next to the bed. The only complaint I have is that there's something loose inside the one I received, which causes something (the shaft, I think) to go "tok tok tok" softly at lower speeds. While faint, this is enough to drive me nuts when left on overnight -- however, wiggling the fan back and forth on the mount several times will eventually cause it to get to a point where the sound stops completely. I've left it at that position and haven't heard any more "toks" in several weeks of daily use. Remote is nice but I don't use it in the end. It takes a CR2032 battery, which doesn't come with the fan (though it should, at this price point).

Expensive but worth the cost
Took about a week to arrive from USA. Why these aren't available here in UK (shipped and meant for UK) I'll never know. Setting it up was a doddle and the remote is a bonus I never thought I'd appreciate but do. Very quiet, even on low speed setting (not Silent Night) and very suitable for watching TV and sleeping. The key thing to know that they don't tell you is that the fan is built for US market and therefore operates on 110 Volts AC. Plug it straight in to 240 volt supply and you'll probably have fireworks concluding with a dead fan. Buy a cheap and quiet step down transformer anf Bob's your Uncle. Was unable to find one with silent running here other than this and while it was expensive, I'm happy.
