READ: It is just sand.....but a good addition. Be careful with price.
Hey there! If you own a hamster, having a sandbox or area in your cage is a must. This are will be readily utilized by your hamster to pee and poo and keep the rest of the cage relatively clean. The hamster's absolutely love to take a sand bath and no training is required. Once they see it they will start to use it immediately. I use one of the habitrail transport boxes as a sand box. I also usually mix this sand with Kaytee Potty Litter (larger size granules) and my hamster loves it. Place it in a box in one of the corners of your cage and that is it for a week or two. The important aspect is price. I found it at 7 USD /2 lbs box on other retailers online. As this is just sand in a pretty box, one should look to pay the least price possible. I am not entirely sure if one could use sand from the beach and filter it using a strainer and then roasting it to kill some microbes. To be honest, I would just buy this to avoid hassle and possible health issue to my hamster and just be careful with the buying price. Anything over 10 USD implies you are paying way to much for just sand. I attached a picture of my sandbox for you to picture and get some ideas. I hope this helps. Regards.

Great for my pets and much better for my lungs.
I have owned two rescued chinchillas for several years now. I've tried various dust baths, and the dust is so fine that it gets everywhere: TVs, monitors, inside of electronics, tables, floors, drapes, etc. This can (and has) ruin equipment. It also will get in your lungs and can cause severe breathing difficulties. I was forced to dust my house at least once a week due to that. The thing with this sand is that it is heavier and it will drop to the ground. This means less cleaning and less health hazards. Pet sand that you buy is typically made from pumice or volcanic ash and is usually cleaned of impurities versus sand taken off of a beach which contains microbes, glass, larger pebbles, etc. Although you could potentially save money by grabbing sand from a beach, it is illegal in some instances plus it might be very unhealthy for your pets. The price of this isn't the greatest, but it will save you trips to the store due to size of the package. It probably equals the price of buying a competitor's sand and dust product when the convenience and price is factored in.

Easy to use and my pet actually uses it
I’ve been using the Supreme Tiny Friends Farm Bathing Sand, and it’s been a nice, low-effort addition to my pet’s routine. I put a small amount in a container a few times a week, and my pet goes right in and rolls around, which is exactly what you want to see. It helps keep their coat looking clean without needing water, and the texture feels fine and gentle. It’s also easy to scoop out and refresh when needed. A couple small things: * It can get a little messy around the area * Needs regular changing to stay clean Overall, it’s simple, effective, and something I actually keep using.

Great purchase for my Dwarf Hamster
I have been using this sand for the last 7 months for my Dwarf Hamster. She loves it! I was concerned at first with her ingesting it but there have been no issues at all. She uses this as her potty, and when I put the new sand in she loves to roll around in it. She has a three level cage and I will watch her go from the top all the way to the bottom to use her potty. The true test was when I went away for 2 weeks and left her in the care of someone and I did want them to worry about changing the sand so I took the sand out. She proceeded to urinate in another corner of the cage and it was a smelly mess when I returned. Now her sand is back in and she is happily using her potty again! I tend to go through one container every 4 months. I change her sand at least every three days if not sooner. Its totally worth it UPDATE...…. This new sand is MUCH DUSTIER … I sent an email because if this concern and had to return the product This is the companies relpy…... Thank you for your e mail, we hope that the information below provides reassurance to you. Supreme Petfoods strives to ensure and maintain quality and consistency across all products, however occasionally, natural variation of raw materials may result in some unavoidable variation of a finished product. Supremes’ Tiny Friends Farm Bathing Sand is a Sepiolite mineral and may occasionally vary in both colour and particle size. The specification of the raw material being purchased has not intentionally changed and these variations are fundamentally unavoidable natural variances. Colour variation can occur due to natural variations of the rock from which this product is derived. As deposits of Sepiolite are mined, the change in location can bring about a change in colour. Unfortunately, this variation is beyond the control of both Supreme Petfoods and our supplier/producer, and the colour can vary from a yellow/beige to grey. The colour will not detract from the products suitability to be used for its intended purpose. Particle size can vary slightly and Supreme Petfoods strives to limit airborne dust through extraction during the packaging process. Sepiolite sand is a naturally occurring clay mineral. Due to the relatively soft nature of the particles, during transport, packaging and distribution, the sand particles may break down resulting in the presence of some fine dust which may become airborne when poured or decanted from the packaging. Supreme Petfoods is committed to producing a high quality and user-friendly product, and where systematic changes are required to achieve this, we will endeavour to take remedial action. Supreme Petfoods is currently installing additional grading and dust extraction equipment within the packaging process to further limit any variation in particle size and reduce the likelihood for the generation of airborne dust during the products use. We hope the above information is helpful to you and that you remain a valued customer of Supreme Petfoods

Heads and tails above the rest!
I just received our carton today and I already love it over the initial dust I bought at the pet store. The grey dust I had before worked, but it truly was "dusty" and I felt bad for my Ladybug (hamster) so I decided to look at other things. For the price and size I thought this was definitely worth trying out, especially with all the great reviews. Once I opened it up I could see why! NO DUST! It is a very fine sand, soft to the touch and will easily do the job, if not better than the last. It has a nice look to it (yellowish sand color) and is easy to dispense from the milk-carton style container. It comes with many different language directions on the side, which was fun to read, so you know these people want everyone to have the same information. So I poured it in her clamshell and we shall see how she likes it!

Gerbils love bathing in it (and pooping in it)
My gerbils love this Chinchilla sand. It took one of them a couple days to figure out what it was for, and the other a couple weeks, but now they bathe in it every day. They also use it as a toilet, too (I know). But I actually like that they do that, because it makes it easier to clean the cage. It actually works surprisingly well that way, even with pee, because it dries it into little clumps (sort of like gerbil cat litter). So, I think it also helps keep the smell down and lengthen the amount of time the cage can go in between cleanings. Our gerbilarium never smells. Visitors are often surprised that they can't smell the gerbils at all. The sand lasts a good bit. You can clean it and reuse it a few times: just sift it through a fine sieve. It will catch the droppings, and most of the little clumps of pee. We put ours in a medium glass container, so that when they roll in it they don't kick all of it out. This particular box is also a nice size so you don't have to run to the store all the time for the minuscule packets they sell there. I recommend it.

My Gerbils Love the Sand Bath!
I’ve never had any other bathing sand, so I can’t compare it to other brands. I saw all the mixed reviews on this so wasn’t quite sure how this would turn out. But I like it! My gerbils love bathing in it, they use it as a bathroom as well, and I’ve found them even building their nest in their little bathing bowl. When you pour it, it throws up a tiny bit of dust, but other than that it seems to be all perfect!
