sturdy plastic; size not exact match but still fits
Bottom line upfront: the ring material feels sturdy, and it fits well. Recommended! I was concerned after reading some of the reviews that this protection ring wouldn't fit my water dispenser. However, the dimensions of the ring are as advertised: exterior diameter is 7.5 inches and opening 5.75 inches (note that the photo shows the opening measuring 5-13/16 inches at the top, but the interior is slightly beveled and measures 5.75 at the bottom). Although the dimensions of my existing ring are 7.25 in. and 5.5 in., the replacement ring fits well -- just more snugly than the original.

Must haves.....
Having these on hand for water dispensers are a must. They are plastic and do end up cracking and to have leaking is aggravating! Always need these as to stay ahead of a leaking issue.
