Fit and finish are great, instructions are clear
After reading a gazillion reviews on RDS, I purchased this "red dot" scope to go on my new Windham Weaponry SRC in 7.62x39mm. I had already purchased and installed a Magpul MBUS front and rear flip-up style sights, which matched the rifle perfectly. The addition of the Vortex StrikeFire II was simply the icing on the black rifle cake.Shipping was lightning fast, packaging was superb, and mounting the scope to the rail was as simple as tightening a screw... took me all of about ten minutes, including a couple of minutes to marvel at this scope. Fit and finish are great, instructions are clear, and I feel that I got more than my money's worth. Wait - WHAT ? ..... it also comes with a lifetime warranty ! My experience with Vortex customer service in times past has been excellent.I'm no expert, but I've fiddled around with firearms for decades... mostly rescuing and refinishing antique rifles in need of TLC. I know a bit about guns. Prior to sighting in at the range, I picked up the rifle to look through the glass - my old eyes perceived a near-perfect "co-witness" with the front sight - the blade of the front sight was clearly visible just below the red dot, even with my aging eyes. I played around with intensity settings, changed dot color from red to green, and tested the tightness of the flip-up covers. No issues found. I left it in red dot mode, as the green seemed a bit much for my tastes, personally. Your mileage may vary.So what if it uses a strange sized battery ? Just buy a couple of spares to throw in your range bag or rifle case and be done with it. With the money you'll save over the Big Name brands, treat yourself to another case of ammo. Yes, I said it - a CASE of ammo. I'm not hunting zombies or hogs, but I could if I wanted to with this set-up. I can hardly wait to get her to the range. I can say with some confidence this scope will exceed my expectations for years to come.Price + Quality + Customer Service = One Very Satisfied Customer. Dont get if you have astigmatism
Right from the box everything looked great. Maybe it could have been great but the red dot looked like a slash or comma right off the bat. The optic itself was extremely small with a bunch protruding around that block your vision other than the small picture produced. Doesn't mix well with the magnifier either. The red dot has permanent lens caps but the magnifier does not? For the price you can do so much better. I have a few Vortex optics and it seems like you only get "quality" if you purchase an expensive Vortex optic. Yes this product is expensive but not quite enough to get you quality.

Great and Affordable Optic!
I purchased this optic for my M&P 15 ORC after deciding I didn't want to spend a car payment on an optic, but honestly, I can hardly tell the difference. The fit and finish on this optic is superb, it doesn't look or feel cheap, and you can tell once it's mounted that it's not going anywhere. The optic came in a box with all the necessary hardware for mounting (it came with a cantilever mount for lower 1/3 co-witness), a torx key for the mount screws, obligatory paperwork, an off-brand battery, and the hat. After mounting it to my rifle, I headed to the range for zero. I previously boresighted it manually in my backyard by removing the bcg and looking through the barrel at a target and roughly adjusting the optic to get it on paper. At the range, it took approximately 20 minutes total to have it set for a 50/200 zero, firing ~3/4" groups at 50 yards. MANY MANY rounds later, the zero has not shifted, and I haven't removed the turret caps since that first day.One of my favorite things about this optic is that it comes ready to rock right out of the box. The optic has everything you need to stick it to your blaster, the brightness settings range from "NVG dim" to "desert-at-midday bright", and the reticle switches between green and red, which is a nice touch. The flip caps are easy to open, and close with one finger. Every screw cap (battery compartment, windage/elevation knobs) has a rubber gasket to keep it waterproof and it is nitrogen purged to keep it fog proof. I have used and abused the optic and it has withstood everything from snow/rain to heat/humidity and drops that would make you cringe. The logos are either laser-etched or engraved onto the optic, either way, they are bright silver. The logos on the mounts seem to have been grayed over, but a black marker to the white logos on the front and sides of the optic took care of that.Overall, I would definitely recommend this optic for those who are building their rifles around the 0-200 range application. I have used it for farther distances, but I feel as though red dots really shine inside 300.PROS:-VERY solid once mounted-Holds zero well-Flip caps are easier to operate than the original Strikefire-Cantilever mount makes use of a magnifier possible-Water/fog proof-Red/green dots with many brightness settingsCONS:-Low-ish battery life-4 MOA dot is a bit large for distance shots

Good Job Vortex
For the money this is a great product. You got the Vortex name and VIP warranty backing it. I put this one a 5.56 AR pistol and started my zeroing process at 25 yds. It was basically zeroed out of the box. I went 6 clicks up and was ringing steel at 100 yards after only 10 rounds. Picked it up several months later and started ringing steel at 80 yds in a gravel pit. My only complaint is that it seems to be a little bulky for a red dot. Field of view is good and you don't get to much of that blue tint. Happy!!!!
