Catstages Purr Pillow Cat Toy – Plush Cat Toy with Touch-Activated Purr for Calming Cats & Kittens

My 12-week rescue kitten (unsocialized) likes this toy. I have it in his crate to keep him company and while it's no substitute for his littermates, it has helped! When I change his litter, I pop the purr on & he settles in... now he's becoming accustomed to me & he seems to like the purr. It has a rise and fall in volume that seems natural, then repeats... my older cat liked it right away. BUT beware- the purr is overall very loud! It's not the calm cuddle purr I'd envisioned, but a jarring starting volume that calms towards the end. It takes getting used to. Still 5 stars for the affordability, availability, and cuteness!

This is a great toy. We put it in the cat carrier when we brought our kitten home; she laid on top of it while it purred. She was quiet in the car and it seemed to keep her feeling very safe. Now we use it every time she’s in the carrier and she goes to the vet.

The sound quality is a little lacking and the looping isn't perfect, but it is recognizable as a purr. The toy is cute.

This toy arrived overnight and is exactly a advertised in the photos. I think it is cute, its very soft, but the purring motor may be a little too loud for some cats and may scare them. I got this to lay in a pet bed with our kitten/almost 1 year old cat as we work from home as she is a snuggly baby and always wants to be held/petted so she can purr until she falls asleep. She has also started her first in heat cycle before we could get her spayed, so this meowing/yowling is now ten times more frequent than before. Can't have that with two people handling calls for work from home. I gave it to her, she smelled it and seemed to like it at first. She purred a little as she investigated but then started the meowing. So I turned on the toy's purring motor. Her meowing stopped but instead she stepped back, batted the toy and ran away in fear...to start yowling :/ I tried again when she was calm, laid the toy next to her and turned on the purring after she smelled it, but again, she did not like it. She didn't run away this time but looked at me like "Dad, what is this thing and why is it not another cat?" Haha! She doesn't seem to mind it when the toy is not purring but she appears indifferent to it. She just lays next to it or on it, and meows for attention LOL The purring sound can't be heard across the apartment, but if you are in the same room it sounds like a purring/almost moaning. And it DOES purr the full 2 minutes as advertised, then stops. I think it would be better if the purring feature wasn't so loud, turned down to be more softer like a kitten purr instead of a full grown chonky kitty purring but its a nice soft toy for them to lay on and maybe scrub on :)

Kittens loved this when bringing them on the drive home. Really helped them feel calm and safe.

My 11-week-old kitten loves her sleepy kitty. The first time I brought it out, I put it next to her on the couch and as soon as it started purring, she immediately started making biscuits. She is definitely having fun wrestling with it. She will pounce on the kitty and roll around just like with a litter mate, and as a single cat household, I’m glad to see her get to play that way (it’s slightly smaller than she is now). The purr is a good volume loud enough that she can hear across the room, but not so loud that it interferes with the TV or conversation. I wish the purring lasted for longer than two minutes for when she’s snuggling with it, but when she is roughhousing, she often will activate it on her own through play. A little bit of fuzz has come off, but I think with a fabric texture like this, it was probably just loose, not anything that she pulled off. Came with a battery, just had to pull the plastic tab out. Love that the purr sound box is removable for easy cleaning!

Cute and fury but the purring is actually a rattling noise. Like, fake, wind-up toy, rattle. My cat was not even remotely interested in that part. Good theory, poor execution

Update: After a week or so, the kitten I bought this for decided she loved it. I had to regularly wash it because of how much she would suckle on it. It's now two months later, and she always wants this when she goes to sleep. It's mostly always on the bed in my office, and she comes in and kneads on it before falling asleep. If I don't notice she's come in, she'll meow at me to turn it on since she can't push the button hard enough. The other cats ignore it completely, so it's no longer scary for them, just not interesting. Upping to 4 stars since it just took her some time to get used to it. I would give 5 stars if it were easy enough to push the button for her to turn it on herself when she needs it and if it took AAA batteries or something more common. Original: I have an 8 week old kitten my neighbor brought me when he saw her thrown into the highway at 3 weeks old. While she has a wonderful playmate in the kitten about 3 months older that had followed me home on a walk the week before, she still shows signs of missing her mother when I cuddle her, so I thought the purring pillow would help for the times I can't cuddle her when she wants. Unfortunately, it's too loud and all of my cats hate it, with my male who has adopted the kittens trying to kill it and drag it away from them after seeing the kittens scared, not in a fun, playful way, but in a stressy, protective way, which I have to admit was cute and sweet. I don't have a cat's hearing and am not laying my head on it, and I think it's much too loud and sounds almost more mechanical than real because of that. It also doesn't look anything like the picture either, which they don't care about, but it's not nearly as cute as I expected it to be. I'll give it 3 stars because the baby kitten is sleeping cuddled up to it as I write this as long as I don't turn it on, but it's disappointing to not be able to give her as much comfort as I had hoped.

Miren, el peluche es muy bonito, en efecto se apachurra, prende unos dos minutos y se apaga solo. Lo compré para ver si animaba a una de mis gatitas que andaba enferma pero lo odiaron todos los gatos, se encuentran muy indignados que esa cosa plana y morada ronroneé sin ser un gato y le pegan y le huyen. Me imagino que como son gatos adultos no sienten ese confort con ronroneo artificial, quizá para gatitos funcione bien. No lo califico mal porque el peluche está bonito y se ve resistente, no es su culpa que mis gatos sean payasos.

I am going to call this fluffy purring blob with a face Clive. Initially Clive scared the hell out of my cat when we pressed the purr button but he soon got used to it and decided Clive was a new fun toy that he could catch, bite and kick at his leisure. He thoroughly enjoyed carrying Clive around in his mouth, plopping him down on the floor before preceding to kill Clive as well as he could. Clive is his new favourite toy and if I pick Clive up and stroke him, it makes my cat really jealous and immediately want attention 🤣 update: months later Clive has become my cats best friend. He sleeps with him every night and Clive is a great deterrent from feet nibbling which my cat is partial to at 3 in the morning. This purchase was 100% worth every penny, I would highly recommend. update Sept 2021: I have since bought 4 of these little guys and both my cats use them. I have not been able to find anything better. I used it with my little one to settle him in and he loved needing it. The purring works instantly to settle him down and help him get to sleep. I tried the toys with the heart beats but it was no where near as good as the purring toy and the way the purring toy is made helps the cats cuddle it etc. my only problem is that it is really hit and miss if you get a toy where the purring works and lasts two minutes. out of the 4 I bought, only 2 worked properly when they arrived, with the other 2 switching off after only 5 seconds. It's a shame because when these products work they are amazing and I can't find anything else like them anywhere

My adopted cat was shocked by the low sound created and did not want to get close to the toy. So I reckon that the product doesn't work 100% on every cat.

My kitten is from an outdoor wild cat litter. Transition to home was done quickly due to the situation and not having enough time to do it as I wish I could’ve. I crate train my kitten to have him build confidence and his first night was awfull. Him being used to be out in an outdoor grange spending his day between wood logs and the other kittens of his litter, he was terrified of being indoor. The noises, the different smells, the lights, vibrations of the floor, everything. The poor one spent his night crying and meowing. I needed something to soothe him. I started looking only for soothing kitten must haves/toys/aids and found this toy. The texture and plush on the head part is perfect as the rest is empty. The purring sound really mimics a real cat purring sound. I was afraid it would sound really fake but no! His first day home after his first terrible night, we received it as I had bought it during the night, being unable to sleep and to sooth the poor kitten as quick as possible. And wow! It helped him acclymatizing and gaining confidence. It helps him get to sleep mode and to sleep whenever night times comes. It soothes him and able him to calm his terrified fazes. Perfect for crate training (I have my kitten in a large dog crate with a litter, toys, small cat tree and a blankie) and for having them getting used to new environment because he was a forest kitten. Our second night together was way better! I was only woked up arround 5:30 am instead of consistent cryings all night having me to not sleep at all. He started feeling way more confident indoor today, walking with less fear arround and almost none anymore. He would look at walls and ceillings being completely terrified before. If you are doubting on getting this, just get it, this is the best purchase I did for my new little fur one💛
