Nice set for my son
I purchased this Raspberry Pi set for my 13 year old son to use in his home-school class. He has taken off with it. It comes with everything he needs to do the lessons and then some. He had some Python language experience, but he is using C++ with the lessons, so this is exposing him to a whole new computer language. Everything that comes in the set has worked flawlessly. He is excited to use it everyday. I am very happy with this purchase of the FREENOVE Complete Starter Kit for Raspberry Pi.

A good training kit -- with some caveats
I actually got two kits - the SunFounder kit and the FreeNove kit. I was asked to evaluate the kits for a training session on Internet of Things (IoT). I'm not teaching the class, but I have the electronics, coding, and Unix/Linux experience. For the rank beginner, which is someone with no basic electronics training and no coding training (specifically C language and Python), I would recommend a basic electronics course and a course in Python or C language, before doing this kit. If you follow directions exactly, all the experiments/projects may work, but you may not understand how it works. The manual for the course is on PDF’s, downloaded from the Freenove webpage. So, this may work well for a classroom setting. There are tutorials for Python and C language for RPi models 3, 4 and 5. Each project section displays a schematic diagram for the project as well as a picture showing how to wire the project on the bread board. The text for each section has short descriptions of the circuit logic and describes what certain code stanzas do. The PDF's have links to webpages that describe some of the electronics for the devices used in the projects. I recommend a user research those webpages as they hold specs and information about the devices that aren’t in the PDF’s. An inventory of supplied parts showed everything arrived as described. The inventory is shown on a Jpeg file. You might experience issues with some parts working with the breadboard. The wires on the resistors are too thin to make a good connection. I resorted to using a pair of needlenose pliers to bend and squeeze the wires to make a thicker wire for the breadboard to clamp. A couple of devices had pins too short to make a good breadboard connection. If you get the kit, I recommend getting some #20 solid core hookup wire. The shortest jumper wires they provide are four inches long. Using those wires to make a number of connections 1/2 inch to 1 inch apart creates a forest of wiring that is cumbersome when troubleshooting connections. I used the #20 wire and a pair of wire stripper/cutters to make short 1/2 inch - 1 inch connections that reduced the wire forest and made it easier to trace circuits. Some components in the project texts were mis-labled. The diagram calls for a PNP transistor when they want an NPN transistor. Note – you may need a magnifier to read the labeling on some devices. A couple components didn’t work – literally DOA. Since I had the two kits with many of the same components, I was able to complete all the projects. The kit uses Wiringpi for addressing the GPIO pins in C language and GPIOZero for python. Wiringpi has been around for a long time. The original developer has dropped off the project to do other things, but the GitHub community keeps the library up to date. GPIOZero is rapidly becoming the standard for python coding for the GPIO pins. Some folks may want to use the newer PiGPIO libraries for C/C++, but Wiringpi works fine for this kit Will I recommend the kit -- with the caveat about rank beginners, yes. The kit will teach you how to use a Raspberry Pi to control different kinds of devices. I dropped the star for the caveats I listed in the review.

Complete starter kit for Raspberry Pi
I've started learning RPi. I quickly needed a bigger array of supplies. This kit has everything I want right now. The supplies were over my head and I needed help. The kit has a great tutorial and all the help I need. The tutorial installs very easily and is easy to use. If you have a RPi and want to learn electronics this is the way to go. I recommend it highly. Addendum: after my first week I just wanted to again praise this kit. I have learned so much. It is very easy to set up and use. Support is fast and very helpful. It is very detailed and covers the Raspberry Pi fully with a complete explanation of how to use all electronic parts you use.

Very Helpful to Learn Raspberry PI GPIO
This product is very helpful if you want to learn how to use the GPIO on the Raspberry Pi. Pros: - The labeled GPIO pad that goes into the breadboard is much simpler than separate jumper wires directly to the Pi. You can also disconnect it as a whole to alter the breadboard. - Well done tutorials in C and Python. You have to download these and could in fact use them without the kit. But then you would have to order all the components on your own. Note: the purpose of the tutorials is not to teach electronics; it is to learn how to use the Pi GPIO. - Lots of components to experiment with almost every aspect of the Pi GPIO including simple IO, SPI, I2C, PWM, motors, LCD displays, pots, etc. There is a tutorial for each. Cons: - The breadboard itself is very low quality (the reason for only 4 stars). It does not hold the thin lead resistors well at all. I ordered a separate breadboard. - The C tutorials use wiringPi which is now deprecated. However, I had no trouble converting them to pigpio C interface. - The case is useless. It comes tightly packed in a little box. Recommend a tackle box to hold all the little parts.

A great variety of components!
I purchased this kit for a raspberry pi class. The kit was all packaged and concluded several sensors, LEDs jumper, cables, breadboard, and so much more. I’m excited about some projects that I can put together with this kit. Double sided tape would be icing on the cake for robotics projects.

Perfecto para iniciarse
Es un gran kit para iniciarse en proyectos hardware con RPI4. La documentación es un poco parca, pero suficiente para empezar. No lo veo adecuado para niños pequeños, sólo adolescentes y adultos.

Zeer goede handleiding met uitvoerige informatie over elk onderdeel. Het pakket bevat veel meer dan aangegeven, zoals een camera, een stereoversterker, een barometer, … die ook niet in de handleiding staan, maar je kan ze op de website vinden. Ideaal om pubers op de weg naar elektronica te zetten. Hoge educatieve waarde en vele uren knutselplezier. Elke STEM richting zou dit moeten gebruiken.
