Excellent price-quality ratio in a beautiful classy watch
This is my second Orient Bambino watch (the first corresponds to the 2nd version, which has Roman numerals) and the reason why I decided to buy another one after almost 3 years of owning the first watch is that before buying the latter I had heard so many good comments about the entire Bambino series that I could not believe that there could be a watch offering that design and quality level at that price, so I decided to spend a while with the first watch in order to evaluate it. Thus, after almost 3 years I can say that the first Bambino passed the test with outstanding results and I decided to get the one I am evaluating here. In general terms, very few watches give you so much for that price (please consider that my first comment is based on my experience with the first Bambino given that I have had the second one only for a few days, but since their components are the same, that comment should be applicable to both watches): 1.- Robustness.- It is a very robust watch overall (both the movement and the case). In general terms, I like to be careful with my watches but I do not exaggerate in that regard. For me, it is perfectly normal that after a while, a watch will have some scratches and will have suffered some knocks. And that happened with my first Bambino, though it took everything without blinking. The movement is widely recognized as a workhorse and unlike some other movements in that price range, this is completely made with metallic parts. 2.- Precision and reliability.- Besides being a robust watch, it is also very precise and reliable (as precise as a mechanical watch of this level can be, at around +/-10 seconds per day). I have heard that some persons complain about the watch being less accurate than that but I believe that can be a matter of adjusting and servicing it. 3.- Movement.- The movement was manufactured “in house”. This is something that watch aficionados normally pay a lot of attention to. And the reason why that happens is that it is simply a big challenge to design and manufacture your own movements instead of simply buying them from a specialized manufacturer. In horology that has a lot of value and normally is reflected in higher prices (in a vis-à-vis comparison, of course). Very few brands accept both the challenge of manufacturing them and the additional obstacle of setting an affordable price to their pieces. Orient and Seiko do and that is one of the reasons why they are so appreciated. As I mentioned before, the movement is recognized widely to be a workhorse and entirely made of metal. 4.- Design.- The design is simply flawless. Please do not misunderstand me. I understand that there are some people who do not like the presence of a date window, but for me that falls more into the tastes category rather than in the flaws one. I do not consider that to be a flaw since the watch was designed that way. My point is that taking into account its own design, the watch is truly flawless. I just could not find any defects on it. Everything was put in place perfectly well, showing outstanding craftsmanship in that regard. 5.- Dial and crystal.- I know that this is part of the design, but the dial and the crystal are both so amazing that I thought it would be better to refer to them separately. Well, I just love the sunburst in the blue dial and the shape of the crystal (dome). Concerning the dial, it reflects light in a VERY elegant manner, without being overly shiny. And the domed mineral crystal helps a lot the dial in accomplishing the light effect. Combined, I must say that aesthetically Orient really did things totally right. The domed crystal is not as strong as sapphire but being mineral crystal it could be rated as just a little lower in the hardness scale, which for me is not an issue at all. And the shape of that crystal almost steals the show. It reminds me so much the nostalgic pieces of the 40s – 60s and that gives a special feeling (even more so if you consider the beautiful Bauhaus design of the numerals and hands). Nevertheless, the size of the case reminds me that this is a modern watch, although a very special one. In sum, I believe this is an outstanding alternative given the cost-benefit ratio it has and aesthetically, it cannot be unnoticed. It will always be a modern, dressy, elegant, beautiful watch, with a special touch that makes it a good option for those looking for a somewhat classic look without being outdated.

Need a dress watch? Look no further
Recovering automatic watch addict here. I sold off my many watches recently and downsized to a more sensible three watch collection consisting of a 9-5'er (a Citizen Eco-Drive atomic time watch I've had for years), a casual weekender (Casioak blackout), and an automatic dress watch. For the dress watch It was down to the Orient Bambino or the Timex Marlin. I went with the Bambino. I am very pleased with my choice. Bambino is a simply stunning modern automatic dress watch line by Orient. I chose the gray dial version. The striated dial really catches and plays with the light nicely. It looks much nicer, beautiful, irw than in the stock photos that struggle to replicate this shade of gray. The minimalist Bauhaus design is elegant and sophisticated. I am very impressed, thus far, with the accuracy of the Orient in-house movement, which hacks and hand winds. The strap is invariably where watches in this price range cut corners, and it's no exception here. However, it looks fine, is comfortable, is serviceable but likely not the most durable of straps. I immediately swapped it for a similar quick release black dress strap of higher quality. In order to get more utility out of this dress watch, I also found a quick release 2-piece white and gray striped NATO-style strap. Because both straps are quick release, I can effortlessly swap the dress strap with the casual NATO and vice versa as needed. Some lament Orient's choice of a 21mm lug width. While there are fewer strap options in this off-size, you can certainly find whatever strap you want in 21mm online. Orient is one company that I am grateful exists. It's a true watch house that designs and manufactures all of its watches and makes its own in-house automatic movements. Unlike the Swiss watch houses, Orient's pricing is reasonable making a high quality beautiful piece like this Bambino affordable to nearly everyone. Thanks to Orient, nearly everyone can enjoy a proper high-quality automatic timepiece like the Bambino (and Orient Marlin, and Orient Ray dive watches -- and many other watches in Orient's catalog) that genuinely give up little to nothing to similar watches that are more expensive by orders of magnitude. Because of this, Orient is an international treasure in my book.

Why wouldn't you buy this???
I normally gravitate towards black watch faces but I decided to change things up and go for the silver and man it's starting to grow on me! This watch is definitely the type to catch your eye so expect lots of people pointing it out. I'd say the sunburst face is to blame for that. But that's what makes this watch so exciting. It's a $100 bauhaus inspired automatic. In the age of MVMT, Vincero, and Nixon there are plenty of people that gravitate towards these brands because of their "minimal" stlye. This is the watch to get those people into becoming watch enthusiasts! Many people just need to be informed of what's out there from actual brands with lineage. So in a way you become an advocate for watches with prestige wearing this. I might be crazy but this watch looks gorgeous on a metal mesh bracelet. Definitely still dressy but easier to wear casually. There are some YouTube reviewers (such as Urban Gentry) that have stated that this watch doesn't have manual winding. BUT IT DOES. Maybe this was for an older model but rest assured this does manual wind AND hack. Yes for most people this is their first automatic. And you may want to go against the grain and get something not so "typical." But there is a reason this watch is in everyone's collection. It is a quality piece. Everyone has a Bambino because everyone LOVES a Bambino. It's a quality piece, from a quality brand, for an absolute bargain. You get everything you would want from an automatic minus an open back. For this price you can't have everything but you can definitely get close. Buy it.

Nice value,
I'll join the rest of the crowd in giving this a big thumbs up, though you need to know what you're getting. This is an incredible VALUED casual/dress watch that is well suited to blue jeans or a suit. It's not an incredible watch, but an incredible watch for the price. At $200 this would not be a great deal, but at nearly half that, it is a very good deal for a supplemental (not every day) watch.. The dial is simplistic and tasteful. Orient often overdoes it's logo size making the dials look cartoonish and "cheap", but not on this one. The script font used for the unnecessary "automatic" and "water resistant" dial notations looks great. The font is small so the words aren't obvious (thankfully) but the script font is clearly identifiable and adds some elegance. The watch would have been better without the diminutive date window, but it's so small that it sort of disappears. The domed crystal has a more of a squared off edge curvature than expensive watches, but it's still nicely done especially for such an inexpensive watch. The strap has a deep chocolate color that looks good out of the box, though as others have pointed out, it will likely need to be replaced fairly quickly. That said, this watch has its quirks. The movement has quite a bit of rotor noise, the 41mm case is a little on the big side even for a "modern" dress watch, the 11mm case thickness is not especially thin as great dress watches tend to be, there is no lume on the hands, the good looking (beautiful chocolate brown) leather strap is not prime quality and the strap width of 21mm is atypical. There is considerable "grit" felt when winding. This is not a primo Swiss movement watch, but obviously it doesn't pretend to be at this price point. It also has a low movement beat frequency (21600) for an automatic watch, and out of the box mine runs about 10 seconds per day fast.. But for just over $100 this watch can look good in so many settings. Swap out the leather for a NATO strap and you've got nearly infinite color choices for a casual setting. Dress it up with a better leather strap and you've got a great dress watch. I'm not personally fond of the squared off hands or small date windows, but these are minor and individualized detractors from an otherwise nice, inexpensive auto watch. I'm a huge fan of Citizen ecodrives, but if you have dozens of watches in your rotation, the Ecos have a tendency to slip in their internal battery charge. You can't just grab those on the go if they are depleted. With an windable, hackable, auto like this one, you can slap it on the wrist at any time. I don't know how durable this watch will be. The crystal will be prone to scratching I suppose, so perhaps this isn't the best every-day watch, but as an inexpensive and versatile member of a collection, it can hold it's place. I think it's a great first foray into the auto watch world, or a nice addition to an established collection when you want something you don't have to worry about too much in more watch-hostile environments

Looks amazing even as a casual wear item.
I bought the Bambino Version 4 a little while ago and really liked it's "retro/modern" looks. The size was fine for me, it's not that big on the wrist like allot of people complain about (I'm skinny to yeah a 41.5mm watch IS NOT BIG). It just has a big face to it. But when it comes to looks man does the Version 4 look good! So I set out to see what the other Bambino versions had to offer. I fell in love with the Version 3 because of it's late 50's~60's styling. It looks so simple yet so good at the same time. It just goes well with anything I wear! The band like the version 4 was a bit stiff at first. But after a day of wearing it, it's now softened up a bit. Also like the Version 4 this watch weighs almost nothing and you hardly feel it on your wrist, I love this aspect about the Bambino Series. I was all set to buy the Version 3 in black but then I saw how good the blue version looked and decided to go that route instead. I'm happy I did because it just looks stunning. I can now see why the Bambino line is so popular, they have an awesome retro look that's also modern and simplistic. Finally the hacking and hand winding movement is a huge plus for me as I consider these to be basic yet essential features to any mechanical watch, even if it already has an automatic winding function. So if you're on the fence about the Bambino line I'd say just buy one or two lol, they're well worth the modest asking price.

Great Watch
This watch is my daily driver that I wear to work every day. For the price, the watch is phenomenal. It holds time well, and looks premium. The gray dial has a subtle sunburst to it that looks premium. I purchased a tan strap for it, and I think it wear very nicely as a business casual watch. It also can serve as a nice affordable dress watch as well with a black band. The band that it comes with is ok, but I recommend getting a new band for it.

Absolutely stunning each time you wonder the time.
The face is viewable from most any direction your wrist may be laying. It's "smooth and buttery" to view it, if that is even a thing, I just feel comforted to look at it. At 40mm, it's larger than my vintage Seiko's that I'm used to, but I actually think that if I had to decide on only one watch to keep from my collection of 10, this would most likely be the one. I wear this watch the most, and I wore it about 2 weeks straight after delivery and probably a week at a time here and there. I love the fact that I have to manually wind it some daily, I have a mid-1950's French Helbros that I wind daily too, and that is enjoyable to me. Mine typically will gain 1-3 minutes per day, depending on what I do while wearing it. In the morning, I normally will sync my wearing watch daily with my cell phone for meetings since I'm at a desk most of the day. Last note is that I bought this watch In October 2022 for about $130, and it's now going for $210 from the same store and it's only been 5 months. The other watches of the same time period have not increased in value like this one, so I think that speaks for itself. The watches best buy point is what you're willing to pay for it. Buy it, wind it a little daily, and enjoy it! Edit: Mine typically will gain 1-3 minutes per WEEK (not day as listed above). Just last night, I synced the watch down to the second, kept it on overnight, and it was 3 seconds fast in 12 hours. The warranty states -20spd and +25spd, so it's within spec when using it.

Great watch, esp for the cost!
I have had 2 versions of this watch, both for 2 years. I did a bit of research so I knew that it was a great watch for the money but the most surprising thing is how durable these watches are. I can't tell you how many times I have banged them against random things in the course of a day. I expect to look down and see a big scratch on the face but I am always surprised that it looks as good as new. They still look great after 2 years wearing almost daily. Really hardly any signs of wear. I was not a fan of the contrast stitching on the band that came with it so I changed those out right away but that comes down to personal preference.

Amazing dress watch
For the money, this is an absolutely amazing watch. Keeps good time and has an in-house movement which handwinds and hacks. Amazing finish on the dial with a minimalistic look and really nice curve on the crystal. The photos of this online do not do the watch justice and it really catches the light well. People have spoken about the watch strap and I have seen a comment about the strap looking like it can't be changed (it absolutely can) . It's not a bad strap at all, but not the best either. It is completely (and easily) changeable - do not base your decision on whether or not to buy this watch just on the strap. I currently have the stock strap on the watch - it wears and looks well - can't complain. I could go on - for the money, a great dress watch, and a great watch for anyone who is looking for a well built and inexpensive automatic watch.
