Even Blind Friendly!
As a blind individual, I am always on the Amazon lookout for products that might prove useful to me. Whether it's cooking, cleaning, baking, boiling water, etc, I'm always on the lookout. I've found many useful products here on Amazon, and some, like this ZapIt, are a complete and utter surprise. Being blind, I don't have to tell you, makes catching flies a grade A pain in the rear. I could never get them with my shoe, and my bug killing friend told me I needed a fly swatter. 'Fine,' I thought. 'Let me find something that'll be easy for him to use. Something that has good reviews.' Logged into Amazon and went on my search. I thought this little fly killer sounded not only useful, but fun. I figured he might enjoy it. What I never expected was that this ZapIt is usable by someone with little to no vision as well. How is that even possible? Simple. Step 1: Listen for fly. Step 2: Grab ZapIt. Step 3: This might take a lot longer than it might take a sighted person, but I've had success with merely crouching in a spot of sunlight or angling the racket so that the mesh catches some light if it's daytime. I've enough vision to be able to tell when that happens. Remain very, very still, and angle the racket in the direction the fly appears to be flying when it's buzzing around you. When the fly nears, I press down on the Zap button and hold it down while slowly maneuvering the racket toward the sound. Sometimes it takes a while, but when that little bugger is caught, the ZapIt makes a loud *ZAP* sound and, as mentioned, you can smell the little blighter frying. It's not perfect. It can be really irritating. But it is a viable option for killing those bugs you can hear if you can't see. You'll know when you've got it. If I could give this ten stars, I would. I can tell if the battery is low as well, because that light is bright enough for me to see. I just flick its switch to check the power levels. Better than sticking your finger into the mesh and trying to zap yourself to figure it out. XD

Powerful & effective - the best one I've tried
I've purchased four zapper rackets from Amazon so far: Elucto 2-wire / 2xAA battery / 3200~3500 volts Black Flag 3-layer / 2xAA battery / 2750 volts Lanpuly 3-layer / USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery / 4000 volts ZapIt ! 3-layer / USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery / 4000 volts The Rechargeable Zap It! is by far the best, due to the grid design and higher voltage. Here's what I've learned so far: 3-layer is better than 2-wire Examples of 2-wire, single-layer designs include Executioner and Elucto. To be zapped, the bug must touch 2 wires. It works well for larger bugs but in my experience, small gnats pass right between the wires with no effect. The more common 3-layer design has an inner "hot" grid separated from the outer "ground" layers with plastic spacers. To be zapped, part of the bug has to go far enough in the mesh to touch the center grid. You'd think it would be less effective… but in my testing, it works equally well on large bugs … and much better on small flying gnats. USB rechargeable lithium-ion battery is better than AA battery Zapper rackets are usually powered by two AA batteries or a single USB rechargeable lithium ion battery. AA battery powered zappers are rated between 2750 & 3500 volts while USB rechargeables can go as high as 4000 volts. It’s a difference you can see and hear … and the higher voltage improves the chances of a kill. ZapIt ! USB Rechargeable is the best I've tried One way to test a zapper racket is to press it against the foliage of a plant with small leaves. It shows how sensitive it is (how many sparks) and how powerful it is (how loud are the cracking sounds) Lanpuly was the first 4000 volt, USB-rechargeable racket I purchased. Doing the foliage test, it didn't work nearly as well as the Rechargeable ZapIt! The voltage is the same so what's different? It turns out the internal gaps between the 3 layers in the Lanpuly are wider … so bugs are less likely to touch the center layer. The ZapIt! grid spacing is closer and in the foliage test, it produces far more and louder sparks. For use on bugs, it's also the best I've tried. As an example of the power and sensitivity, I placed the face of the Rechargeable ZapIt! on a silverfish on the carpet. The result was a loud display of sparks like the 4th of July ! The silverfish was vaporized … and the snapping, crackling sounds were so loud that they startled my wife in the next room ! There are three sizes: Mini 16" long x 6.3" wide / Medium 18" long x 7.6" wide / Large 19" long x 8.3" wide. I've tried the Medium and Large and recommend the Medium as the slimmer grip makes it easier to snap your wrist back and forth while also having to hold the power button down with your thumb. There's no reason to get the Mini in my opinion. Note: Amazon also sells ZapIt! rackets powered by 2xAA batteries that are only rated for 3500 volts. Unless USB charging is not available, that option is not recommended. Tip: an iPad USB charger charges faster than a smaller iPhone "cube" charger I hope this information is helpful !

DOES NOT WORK!!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT RESPONSIVE!!!!
Do Not Buy!!!! I thought this being rechargable would be great, I wouldn't have to replace batteries over and over. I charged it right out the box till the light turned green and tried it out. At first it seemed to work but lasted 5 minutes and a charge supposedly gets 10,000 zaps, I might of zapped 15 times. I plugged in and charged again and same result. Then the zapper stopped working completely. I stuck a metal object in the wire while activated to check for life (please don't do this at home) and yup dead as a door nail. The company has a lifetime warranty so i figured maybe mine was just defective and I would give them another try. After emailing the company over and over I finally received a response and that they would send another unit. You would think a company that offers a guarantee like this the product would work great cause otherwise you would be losing money replacing units all the time. I finally received the 2nd one in the mail and threw the first one away like the company told me to do. I charged the 2nd unit and once the light was green tried it out. As I was trying to zap bugs I noticed the red light wasn't staying Red and so the zapper wasn't staying engaged so no zapping power and the flies just flew away laughing at my defeat. 2 defective units????? No way this is a piece of junk and I don't know how the company can offer such a warranty considering. I give up on this thing and I am returning for a refund...definitely not worth the pain and aggravation to deal with this piece of crap. On a side note I also bought Elucto brand battery operated zapper around the same time as my 1st one wouldn't work and that is going strong. This one is press and go and no protective crap to get in the way. I'm sticking with Elucto zapper. I tried to give this zapper a chance but it is just a flop and what's the point of a lifetime warranty if you have to constantly replace the unit cause it doesn't work. Bad design poor execution and terrible product!!!!!!

Actually works—and it’s surprisingly fun
This doesn't feel like cheap plastic toys that breaks the third time you swing it. This one is different. Right out of the box, you can tell the build quality is sturdy; it has some actual weight to it and doesn't flex when you're hunting down a fast-moving target. The USB recharging is a huge win. There’s nothing more annoying than needing to zap a mosquito only to realize your AA batteries are dead. As for performance, it works incredibly well. It delivers a satisfying pop that lets you know the job is done. Honestly, it’s become a bit of a game for me and it’s very entertaining to defend the patio and zap the bugs that were otherwise planning to eat me alive.

Mini is just as good, and you get 2 of them.
So far so good for this mini version. These things are very light and hopefully their plastic doesn’t break. I have dropped it once already, but it shows no signs of damage. This product should be used to wave around in the air to touch the pests. It is not intended to “hit” or “smack” anything because it will break. I do however notice that I catch more pests the faster I wave it in the air (be aware of your environment; try not to break anything or hurt anyone). The flys that I manage to hit with this make a loud snapping sound. Sometimes they survive the hit and fly away, but most times they fall to the ground subdued, allowing you to step on them. Other times they get stuck in it and make a little lightning bolt arc shine from their bodies. This usually results in a burned smell if you continue to press the energizing button (which I will explain in a moment). These USB rechargeable zap rackets come with only one cord, but I already have another cord for a cell phone, so, whatever. The charge cord fits behind the yellow door at the base of the handle. I like that this product has switches on it. One on the side that cuts power to the metal completely, and one in the middle of the handle to control a light. Why it needs a light is beyond me, but it’s there if you need it. The main button that energizes the metal grid is the yellow button on the side. There are two LED lights on the handle. A red LED light that shines to show you that the metal grid is being energized every time the yellow button is pressed, and a green one lower on the handle that only shines to indicate when it is finished recharging. Oh, and instructions say it should be charged before use. It also says it can be recharged a thousand times (or something along those lines) because of the powerful lithium battery, but I have yet to charge it again (since the first charge after I received it). I have already killed around 40 flies and a few mosquitoes with one of them on a single charge and it shows no signs of weakening. Both rackets have fully charged within two hours. I have not shocked myself yet, and I have noticed that this is due to the safe design. I am fairly certain that shocking yourself is a possibility if you are determined to do it, but I highly recommend that you not. I am thoroughly satisfied with this product so far but I will return to update this review if I find any problems or flaws to adjust the star rating.
