Aqara Water Leak Sensor 3 Pack, Zigbee Water Leak Detector for Alarm System

Update - 11-29-2023: Added temperature sensor info below and attached image. Original Review: Bought these since they were on sale and wanted something to integrate to Home Assistant. Wasn't super on board with the idea of a "coin" style water detector (would prefer the cable type), but went with this to give it a shot. I put it next to the drain and water heater downstairs. Fast forward three months. We had a small backup in our drain downstairs and the alarm in Home Assistant went off. Saved me a lot of damage I'm sure. You will 100% want to make sure you set up multiple critical notifications in your automation and consider choosing a custom obnoxious sound. If you're sleeping, you want to make sure you don't sleep through it. The Good: -- Paid for itself already -- Integrated very nicely with my Sonoff receiver in Home Assistant. -- Fairly non-descript and small. Hard to notice on the floor. -- Fast. This thing went off immediately when water had reached it. -- Inexpensive! I'll be honest, I really wish there was a cable type Zigbee detector that wasn't $100. But this thing is just so darn inexpensive that you can get six of these for the cost of one of those plus an extension cable. The Cromulent: -- It's battery-powered. As mentioned above, I the cable type is preferred, but I'm guessing there's zero chance of a cable type without having to be plugged into an outlet. Plus you can put these wherever you need without having to worry about an outlet. -- TBD on battery life so far. I've been tracking this since I installed it in mid-July. Started at 88% with the factory-supplied battery (constant problem with Aqara) and within ten days it had dropped to 70%. It has been sitting there at 70% for three months now. I'll update this when I have to change batteries. -- The LQI shows a fairly weak connection, which is surprising given that it's only 10-15 feet away through two interior walls. Kind of surprising given that other devices that are much further away are significantly better. The Bad: -- The temperature sensors in these are utter garbage. They're the internal temperature of the device, not the room they're in. They're off by 10+ degF and should NOT be relied upon in any capacity. Overall: There really are no major primary weaknesses to this device. I'll be grabbing a couple more when they go on sale to scatter around the house. I'd like to get the Eve Water Guard but at $100 + $20/6 ft, it's really hard to justify it. The temperature sensors are useless cost adders and Aqara would be better off just removing them.

These provide peace of mind! If you own a home and want to ensure you are notified in the event of a leak to avoid costly repairs are mold damage from a slow leak, these are your best friend. They were easy to set up, but you'll need a Aqara hub (I bought the Aqara Smart Hub M100) to be able to connect them to anything. I connected them to Apple HomeKit within a few seconds once it was hooked up. I think these are a great value and significantly cheaper than a repair. I tested them and they worked perfectly at even a small amount of dampness. I feel confident these will notify me immediately to any potential water leak and plan to buy more.

I purchased this just to see if it would work with SmartThings with the new edge drivers even though Aqara says they do not support it. It works. I've only had it connected for about a week, but so far no issues. I first tried to pair the device without installing any custom drivers. It would pair but only as "device" with no functionality. I finally installed a custom driver, paired again and, boom, there it was. You will need to do an internet search for the driver, accept the invitation, and then install the edge driver for the Water Leak Sensor. I then paired the device by scanning for new devices, but I think you could also do the "add device by brand" process. The top of the device really is a button. Don't be shy about pushing down on it. After pairing, you will need to press the top button for one second to do a range test. That will perform the initial communication with SmartThings. After that, you should be good to go. If you see a message about "this device has not updated", do the range test again. Some people have reported issues with the device losing communication with SmartThings and dropping off the network. I have not had that issue yet. I will update the review if I do.

They seem pretty functional so far. I set them up in Home Assistant using ZHA. I struggled to get some of them in pairing mode, but that may have been user error. My one real complaint is that of the 12 units I purchased, 2 of them came with batteries that are being reported around 50%. 3 others are under 70%. The rest are at 84%. There is no battery tab, so I guess they actively drain while they're sitting in the warehouse.

I have these under every sink, under the dishwasher, near water heater, under washing machine, and under well pump. They're connected to Home Assistant, which in turn activates the Aqara water shut-offs if these things detect the leak. Very easy to use as standalone with just the Aqara app if need be.

We loved them while they worked, but 9 out of 14 purchases failed after barely over a year. Only 3 door sensors and 1 temp sensor are still working today. Multiple battery swaps and reset attempts have failed, and customer service has declined to replace. Door sensors (3/8 still work) were the most reliable. They literally never had to be re-paired even once (while they worked) and had excellent battery life. Nice small form factor. Whether it's a front door opening/closing multiple times a day or a window that was only opened once every few months, they worked flawlessly (until they didn't). Temp sensors (1/4 still work), need to be re-paired every so often and drain batteries much faster (which seems fair - they have a lot more work to do than a binary door/window sensor). I would prefer if they were made thicker/larger to support a larger battery. Leak detectors (0/2 still work) all failed within a few months and were the biggest pain to set up. You'd think they came from a totally different manufacturer or something. They were massively annoying to pair and re-pair, and they had to be re-paired ALL the time. Saddest thing is that customer support is not willing to replace out-of-warranty. Partly on us for not bothering to RMA for a long time, I guess. We'll be checking out other brands to replace the dead units before we consider Aqara again.

Aqara as always offers great smart devices compatibility with all major ecosystem. These water leak sensors maintain a connection consistently to hub. And work great with the slightest bit of water I get a notification. They are compact in size and can be placed anywhere. I love that they are slim enough to slide under washer machine and refrigerator. Very easy to pair. Only downside is they are expensive. But that’s everything nowadays and in no part changes my opinion of the great product.

My review is going to basically be the same for the sensors and the hub (I tried the E1 Hub). While MOST iOS users will probably be pleased to know that Aqara supports Apple HomeKit, some users, like myself, are going to be disappointed that using HomeKit is a REQUIREMENT to use the Aqara system -- and nowhere, at least not that I have found, tells you this is a requirement. It is impossible to add the hub or sensors to the Aqara app without enabling HomeKit, something I don't use and don't need to use. After multiple attempts at adding the hub without enabling HomeKit, I finally acquiesced thinking "I can just delete the devices from Home later." I setup the hub, added the water leak sensor, and started a round of testing. The sensors worked. I received notifications. Everything worked fine. Great! Now, I'll just delete everything from Apple Home and we're done! WRONG. Once I deleted the device and hub from HomeKit, I no longer received any notifications from the Aqara app. Although the sensors were reporting as expected in the Aqara app, I was no longer getting any alarm notifications. I guess it requires HomeKit integration to push the notifications? Then what's the point of the app in the first place?? Just to collect my data? Also, there's no way to re-add the devices from the Aqara app back into Home, so, I had to delete everything, reset, and start over. Fine. I did it. Begrudgingly. And for about 3 days, everything was working, everything was reporting properly, and I was receiving sensor alarm notifications as expected during my random tests. That is, until, I had a power outage. Once the power restored, the hub would no longer come back online in Home. It reported as online and sensors reported as expected in the Aqara app, but in Home it just showed "Unresponsive," and I received no more alarm notifications. Nothing I tried could get it to reconnect. Finally, I'd had enough. I reset the devices, removed them from Home and the app, requested account deletion, and returned them. For what it's worth, I've since purchased the system beginning with "Y" and have had NO issues, even with power cycles and internet resets, and because it doesn't even support HomeKit, I've not had to use it! Why 3 stars then? Well, the sensors did work and responded quickly. The system, technically works, but the requirement to use HomeKit makes it not work for me. Also, because it couldn't reconnected to HomeKit tells me there are still some wrinkles in the software or firmware or integration that needs to be worked out, but probably can be fixed and would make this a good system for someone who needs or wants HomeKit integration.

J'ai fait l’acquisition de ce détecteur de fuite car j'en possède déjà un depuis un peu plus de 6 ans, il fait très bien son travail, placé en dessous de l'évacuation de la machine à laver où il y a parfois des débordements nous sommes tout de suite prévenus via sirène sur le hub et notifications push. Nécessite au minimum un hub aqara, la pile sur le premier est toujours celle d'origine. Durée de vie environ sept ans pour le premier en service qui donnait constamment des faux positifs après une mise à jour de l'appli ( je ne sais pas si il y a un lien ). J'en ai acheté un autre.
