The purchase price suggested that this Kioxia 256GB SSD may have been used. In fact, the one I received had an HP OEM copy of Windows 11 Home written to it. Windows was in the pre-initial-boot state suggesting that it was pulled from an unused HP laptop--so, essentially new. Works great as the boot drive in a Dell system running the XCP-ng hypervisor. Good deal.

Although not as aesthetically pleasing, they kinda look like bacon strips, they work as advertised. I used mine to keep my windows 11 boot drive untouched while installing Elementary OS Linux on this one. Works exactly as expected!

I bought this NVMe drive because the price was right and I wanted to replace the SSD 2.5" I was using in my Mini PC appliance that I use for OPNsense as a home router. Faster writes to logs is important with a high traffic device like a router/firewall. It's only been a few days, but this drive performs very well, is cost effective, and exceeds my expectations. I'll try to update this with performance data soon. Let's be honest though, if you're looking at this drive, it's because you're looking for something small and cheap, and this does the job! No issues with it at all. I used clonezilla to clone my 256gb WD blue 2.5" SSD and it performs beautifully. The WD blue, despite being 256GB, was actually only 250GB. This is 256GB, which means I had no problem cloning my ZFS vdevs to it (ZFS partitions can't be shrunk, so I would have needed to do a new install of this drive was even 1mb too small). Worth the price!

I question if it's a new drive. There is a sticker on it that says "Replace With HP Spare". See photo.
