Great for hiding side-mounted cables behind thin monitors.

These little gems are that thing you didn't know you needed until you actually bought it and tried it. I carry a 16" portal monitor with me when I travel. Depending on the desktop configuration, sometimes the laptop and the monitor cables interfere with each other, sometimes they fit fine and wrap around nice and clean without getting in the way. Then there was the location I worked in where the portable monitor *had* to go the left of my Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5x and there wasn't enough room to move the monitor away from the multiple cables coming off the Lenovo. Enter the USB C U Shape Adapter. Between these USB C and a separate but similar HDMI to mini HDMI U Shape adapter I was able to tuck the cables behind the monitor and route them cleanly and without creating a tangled mess next to my Lenovo laptop. Highly recommended, especially for the price.

When I bought it in early 2023, no dimensions was included, but it works with my portable monitor to hide the cable clutter. It also works with my phone but only the bare phone with no case. Dimensions matter, now that it states there's a 4.7mm gap between the two ends of the connector it should make it easier to choose. I see some other connectors with a bigger gap that would work with Macbooks and Steam deck. I even see YouTube video of someone using one of these (not this particular model due to the smaller gap) to hide an external SSD behind a Macbook to give it extra storage without adding too much bulk, which I think is pretty neat.

It gets five stars for being an unusual item that solves an unusual problem with dressing wires for a mobile Windows setup having a DC-powered 2nd monitor. Hides the cable behind the monitor and makes it less likely the cable will get snagged or the connecter getting torqued during hectic duty assignments. If the monitor jack were to get damaged I'd be really bummed, and a USB cable sticking out the side of a monitor does make me nervous. I can't afford to have problems on those assignments and this gives me peace of mind. Also, these parts generally help avoid the "rat's nest" look of all the wiring to hub and peripherals and such. So it also makes the setup look better in photos.

This works just fine for the portable monitor I have now I can keep the USB cord behind the screen and not sticking out the side.

Only 1 our of the 3 adapters worked. The other 2 did not send power or data.
