Works GREAT to soothe and clear scalp scabs from dermatillomania
BUY THIS - IT WORKS! I have had stubborn crusty scabs and sores in various stages of healing on my scalp for about 10 years due to dermatillomania (skin-picking) and possible folliculitis. It has been very hard for these scabs to heal because I am constantly picking at them, and hard to find products that would help soothe itching and flakiness, especially in the winter, without causing buildup that I would then itch at some more. While this has not solved the issue completely, it has made a huge difference. My scabs are not as raised and they seem as if they are healing faster. I'm actually hopeful that they might heal and go away forever if I can stop picking! My scalp felt so clean and smooth after using this for the first time along with a dandruff shampoo and scalp brush in the shower. I've been using this for less than a month, and it has already worked incredibly well to soothe the itchy, tight feeling on my scalp. I do think it has been decreasing my picking and helping my scabs to finally heal! To apply, I brush and part my hair to expose my scabs, squeeze a small amount on my fingertip, and use my fingertip to apply in the spots that need it. The applicator works fine, using a finger is just my personal preference. It has an interesting consistency -- it's thinner and more liquid than Bath and Body Works lotion, but not as sticky as Cetaphil face wash. I apply pretty liberally to the point where it does make my hair visibly crusty or wet. If I had to go somewhere right after applying I would probably brush my hair out or style it after application, or apply less, but usually I apply before bed. I have NOT noticed that it makes my scalp greasy, oily, or itchy at all, which is huge! It does have a relatively strong smell that lingers for a few minutes after application. To me it smells medicinal and like coconut, which makes sense based on the ingredients. I have a pretty weak sense of smell, so overall it does not bother me, but I can see why it is bothering other people. It is very gentle and does NOT sting, even on more open scabs.

This actually works - I was at the end of my rope!
I can't believe I'm writing this but this is miracle stuff! I've suffered with a massively itchy scalp after a chemical burn (hair dye related) that ruined the lipid barrier of my scalp such that it's red and itchy all the time. I've tried literally everything - all the itch relief shampoos, all the itch relief leave-ins, hydrocortisone, aloe, everything. I finally sprung for this even though it cost more - but thankfully my HSA covered it. I was pretty skeptical since nothing else has worked. This does have a funky smell, but it's not horrible. But it works! I did an experiment where I put it on an itchy spot but only half of the spot. And where I put it, the itch completely went away. And it stops itching for hours. This gives me hope my bald spots (due to scratching) will eventually get hair growing back in since I haven't been scratching at all. If you're desperate, give this a try!

Only long term will tell
So it seems to work but only for a short time and which it recommends 2x a day to apply and burns just a little nothing major but I have to do it three times in a day and it does have a smell but not very overwhelming so kinda want people to not get to in my space until it fades

Healed my itching and scratching completely.
Nothing and I mean nothing helped me in the past five years of literally scratching my scalp to the point of leaving me with bloody scars. Even steroid shots only lasted couple of weeks before I had to wear a baseball cap to keep me from scratching. In a few days I started using Calm scalp I stopped wearing the hat. I forgot I had that annoying itch for years. My 4 spots have started healing. I put the serum few times a day and that's it. I probably use too much but I don't care, just got myself another bottle. I still have ways to go to heal my scars completely and grow a bit of hair in the bald spots but damn! I am happy!

Leaves an oily sesadue on my hair
I've been using scalpacin and thought I would try this as it would be good to reduce the cortisone use. It has reduced the itching but I only use it later in the day and early morning before my shower. I don't care for the oil base but if you have a dry scalp it would be great. I react to hair products. Think I will keep looking for something else, or go back to the cortisone.
