Love it!
I like tea, but I don't like a massive cup of tea because it's either scalding hot or lukewarm when I'm halfway done with it, and if I want another cup I have to go make it. Hence my search for a carafe. So, on with my search, I wanted a carafe under 30 dollars and well built that would last. I didn't want a massive one since it was just me using it. This carafe fit the bill, it holds a quart of liquid (4 cups; 32 ounces) which lasts me through the day. It stays fully hot for 6-8 hours and it's medium warm in the morning if I left it overnight. There's no push buttons, no strainers, it's just a simple pitcher, the black plastic seems like it's a solid one piece with a glass center. I'm not sure what the stuff is to make it thermal around it to retain the heat, but it works, and a screw on top. It looks just like the picture. That's it. It's well built (from Japan), it's sturdy, I have a feeling if I take care of it this will last for many years. Now, how to use it. First I was disappointed that you can't put dairy in it since I'm a chai lover. They tell you on the box 'do not use dairy in this'. I did, I had to try, it curdled and was gross, I tried non-dairy creamer, same result. They warned me so kudos to them. I wasn't upset, I like to experiment and had a good laugh. Only when I tried using dairy products did I have to use a bottle brush to get gunk off the inner glass, if you just make tea or coffee (sugar is fine in it, even spices from chai) you just rinse it out and wash the plastic off and you're good to go. Here are their warnings on the box, which most of them you would think is just common sense. (I paraphrased) Don't allow children to use, it's not intended for them Don't overturn the pot, it may spill (I believe them on this, it seals in the heat but if that lid comes just a little loose and it tips...well...) Don't drink directly from the pot. ('nuff said) Don't hold by the lid when carrying. Always use the handle. Don't remove the base, the glass liner may become damaged. (why you'd want to, I don't know, it all looks like one piece to me) Don't fill with dairy products, baby food, fresh fruit juice, dry ice or carbonated beverages. Third, and the reason I spent a few days trying to decide if I really wanted it. I wanted to see it with the cap off and what the cap looks like. It's just a screw on top made of the same material as the base. The section that goes down into the top of the carafe to block it from spilling and to retain the heat has two grooves in it (one for pouring and one for air so the pouring is easier). Closed firmly all you have to do is turn the lid half a turn, (I hold it out firmly so the lid stays still and it gives it a little more room for the liquid to pour) and gently pour your liquid into your cup. The liquid slides through the groove, it's not fast and a full container can sputter a bit, but holding the lid up just a little lets the liquid pour out more easily, and with a simple half turn back it's sealed shut. They even show you the pictures on the first flap when you open the box what's 'open' and 'closed'. Oh, and don't fill it all the way up to the top, you have the 'neck' area where the lid fits in, I fill it up just to where the neck starts (which is 4 cups, I measured), all the way full and liquid will spit and drip out when it's closed. For the price, I'm pretty darn sure it will not break if you care for it and treat it well. It's well made, but a little care goes a long way. I love this, I would recommend it to all tea and coffee lovers that want a cuppa now and then through the day but only want to make it once.

Made in Japan; should I add some more,,,
pros: Room temp. 70*F coffee holds heat for 10 hours guaranteed. Tough borosilicate glass. No aftertaste of chrome in any metal, or any health hazard of plastics. cons: The top is hollow; means loosing 10% of heat, adding foam insulation, should prolong heat/cold 1.5 times.
