Great grinder exactly what I needed

Works great and well priced. Runs for a long time on a 5ah battery. I wish it had tool less disk changes like Milwaukee. Cuts great with the included cut-off disk. Those makita disks are so amazing I got a 20 pack. Not sure how it compares to other tools but I would say it is a bit heavy, but I assume most cordless quality angle grinders are about the same weight

I’ve been using the Makita XAG04Z for some DIY projects in my garage, and it works well. The brushless motor seems to give it good power, and the cordless design means I don’t have to hunt for an outlet. It’s especially useful when I need to cut metal or grind surfaces without dragging around cords. 😊 Overall, it’s a nice addition to my toolkit and simplifies a lot of tasks.

Wound up grabbing this for my husband after seeing a demo video while nursing our toddler at 2 a.m. He already has a pile of Makita 18V batteries, so a bare tool made sense. The grinder has good power for stuff around the house. He used it to cut some rusty bolts off our old patio chairs while the kids chalked on the driveway, and it sliced through fast without bogging down. The safety paddle switch feels sturdy and the size is easy for him to handle one-handed. Noise is loud but manageable. My only gripe, it eats battery quicker than we hoped when he’s cutting thicker metal, so u really want a higher amp battery. But for weekend projects and quick fixes, it works well.

I have a lot of stock in both Milwaukee and Makita cordless tools and corded tools. So when I needed a new grinder I knew it had to be cordless, brushless and one of these 2 brands. I had owned the brushed Milwaukee and didn't care for it, and have used the brushless Fuel version, which is so much better. However when I was looking at the Milwaukee compared to this Makita I couldn't overlook the $60 price difference, so I went with the Makita. After using it for several weeks of grinding and cutting steel, I have to say...its a fantastic tool! Its got plenty of power on a 5.0 battery and will go for several days of intermittent use without draining the battery. Its not much heavier than the corded versions with the 5.0, and its so convenient to be able to work untethered. Of course you can run the Milwaukee until the cows come home with the 12.0 battery but who wants to carry that monster?? The next one I buy will be the XAG09Z for the electric brake, its worth the extra $25 to be able to just set it down after you switch it off and not have to wait for the wheel to spin down or grind on something to stop it. Sorry Milwaukee, I see no reason to spend the extra money for the Fuel unless you needed the extra runtime and don't mind holding the weight of a giant pack.
