Plugfones Basic Wired Earplug Headphones, OSHA Compliant Foam Work Earbuds

These headphones are small enough to fit in my ears, soft enough to sleep on and customer service is quick to respond if you contact them. My only negative comment is that the plastic around the wires is very thin and does start to crack and break. I have tried coating with silicone and other things people have suggested because I like these that much.

I was very happy to find these still being sold. I caught one of the ear pieces from my first pair in a door and broke them. I was extremely sad because they work perfectly. So very glad I could replace the broken pair. Will buy a least 2 just in case they stop being sold.

I've always had a problem with earbuds staying put while I'm doing my day to day. As you can see these get right up into the ear canal and they're super comfortable material. The length of the cord is long enough to handle most situations. Excellent product thank you.

I found these after doing a search for earbuds that look like hearing protectors. I work in a manufacturing plant which allows hearing protection (and provides earplugs for us to use, if we want) but does not allow iPods/MP3 players to be used at work. The nature of our work is often mundane and tedious and it occurred to me that being able to listen - stealthily, if need be - to music while doing my job would help the time pass by more quickly. I needed earbuds that could pass, at a glance, for the ear plugs used at work and these are a pretty close match. I ordered two pairs - one for me, and one for a co-worker. The earbuds arrived quickly and were packaged neatly, if unimpressively, in small, plastic boxes. The blue cable and overall shape and color (several colors are available) make them look very much like regular ear plugs. The build quality seemed average, with a round, blue rubber cord and a straight plug. An angled plug would likely be less prone to snagging and/or breakage, though I have had no such problems so far. I snapped open a box and untangled the cord to try them out. Sticking them loosely into my ears and plugging them into my iPod, I tried listening to a few songs. At first, I was underwhelmed at the bass response. It seemed shallow and tinny. But after repositioning them more deeply and securely into my ear canal, this improved greatly. They will never be confused with the dynamic range, soundstage or frequency response of say, a good set of Shure 'buds, or the ubiquitous Klipsch S4's, but for their intended purpose, they fit the bill very well. The earpieces actually do a very good job of passive sound isolation even when not plugged in and this makes the overall sound of music produced by these 'buds sound better, in my opinion. They are no booming loud, but have a good overall sound that should satisfy the needs of anyone needing a pair of stealth earbuds.

See update at bottom of this review. This is the second pair of plugphones i have purchased. The idea is great but the frailty of these is an issue. If you purchase these DO NOT pull on the cord to remove from ear they will break. Use EXTREME care when inserting them into your ears the plastic will break and can disconnect from the rubber earplug. I love the idea and while these worked they were great. The plastic inside the ear piece broke on day 3 and day 4 stopped working in one side. I have found a solution for 2 issues i have listed above with 1 simple fix. The plastic breaking and the wires coming loose inside the plug causing the plug to stop working. - buy a bottle of "THICK CA glue" use thick only....put a small drop of glue onto the plastic piece of the plug where the wire enters the green plastic. CA glue is super strong it will secure the wire to the plug so it cant get pulled loose and reinforce the plastic preventing breakage. Going to buy pair #3 love the concept.

I bought these to plug into the radio in my team's race car. They significantly reduced the nose when racing while allowing me to hear radio communications. They seemed a bit fragile, so I replaced them with a more expensive set. Since then I've been using these as secondary hearing protection while mowing my yard, under a set of ear muffs. I can listen to music with good fidelity while mowing! I've caught the cord on tree branches and ripped them out of my ears. I forgot them in my pocket and ran them through the washing machine. They still work like new, although the green strain relief nubs long ago came loose and sit at the cords' V. I highly recommend them.

These sound like garbage. I knew they would, but as long as they fooled my superiors at work then I didn't care. I read a few customer reviews that said these headphones short out around the plug section, and eventually stop working. They were right. I didn't even get 2 weeks out of mine, and I totally babied them. As much as you think you need these headphones, don't bother. If you could pick them up for a few bucks a pair(which is all they're really worth) then it might be worth it. I paid $20 dollars though after shipping for a product that performed poorly, and broke quickly.

It's not perfect but it does the job well enough. Cons: - Your inner ear will start to hurt if you have this on for too long. - It doesn't completely block out noise. It dampens the noise enough. So you get music and work noise background when listening with your earpiece. - The length of the cord could be shorter or may be I'm just short I'm like 5'7 or 5'8 at a good day. Pros: - My workmates and bosses think I'm wearing PPE ear protection while doing assembly work. - It makes time go by relaxingly during your shift work. - It makes you look like you are interested in people's conversation when you take off your ear pro. When actuality your ears are hurting from wearing it too long. - It also let people know not to bother you when you are wearing this earpiece. - I can't wear it for 8 hours straight so I take it off during brake time and lunch. Advice don't pull the cord too forceful because you will break it easily. I know because this is my third one.

No perceptible sound reduction when worn, therefore pointless! Audio quality was also appalling for the price.
