Quality little Camera Review Updated
After reading many reviews I didn't know which one to go with as there are so many cameras out there so I ended up going with this one and very pleased I did this suits my needs there is only thing I wish i could do with this and is a little disappointment and maybe I've not found the function as yet is to turn the volume up on the camera so if I wanted a 2 way chat I could actually hear the person from the camera and if there was an intruder you would have to shout at top of your voice for them to hear you but other than that this is a quality little peice of kit and has the options of adding more I have another one of these on order as it does the job really well and I'm impressed with the picture with clear audio and you can adjust the settings you can either have it pan at certain times or all day with 360 degrees. The night vision is fantastic and picks up motion and gives you feedback with time stamps. I don't have a memory card as yet but have 2 on order this will still save thumbnails to the app with 6 sec videos without having to sign up to the cloud there are cloud packages you can buy but for now I am happy with just using the free one. I have uploaded some pics this fits perfect on my rear speaker with little noise as it pans that don't bother me too much I can set this to off if need be and can turn the light off from the front of the camera through the settings. There are so many features that you can tweak to your suitability I've had to adjust the sensitivity off motion detection as I keep getting notifications but when I look at the highlights there's nothing there (nothing paranormal haha) it's most possibly a fly that keeps setting this off. Overall I'm really pleased with this product it does all the neccesary things you need it takes about 5 mins to set up with downloading the App included very easy to set up and use. I hope this review helps.

First class camera with one downside.
This camera is of excellent quality and is very easy to set up. It has very good quality image both in daytime and night time viewing conditions with daytime view being in full colour and night viewing using the in built infra red LEDs giving a black & white image but still of good quality even in complete darkness. The camera can be viewed on any phone or tablet using the Android or Iphone system and can even be viewed on a Windows computer with the PC app which is a great bonus which is not available with many similar cameras. The camera has movement detection so it can follow a subject anywhere within its field of view and its also great as a baby monitor with 2 way audio and its ability to detect and trigger on a loud noise such as a baby crying. The app is very good quality, very stable and works brilliantly. All in all a very good buy especially as I had mine on an Amazon deal with a 25% saving! However, there is one downside in that this camera does not have a standard tripod mount fixing unlike my other cameras. I purchased this to set up in a bedroom window and to look down on my parking space below. My old camera it replaced had a tripod mount so it was easy to get the correct downwards angle to view my parking area perfectly. However, this camera does not so when its mounted on a flat surface, does not have sufficient movement in the downwards direction to be able to see the parking area on my driveway as my other camera could. I am going to try and make a small mounting base with a downward slope to fit the camera on so it can point down sufficiently to be able to view the area I want to protect. If not, it will be returned to Amazon as unsuitable for my needs within a few days. Shame because with the simple addition of a tripod mount as all my other IP cameras have, it would have been perfect!

UPDATE re HACK. Great bit of kit - not sure about quality though, some software/app options
The picture is just about ok, not great but alright. The field of view doesn't seem as wide as other devices (Neos camera seems better). I had returned an expensive 4mp Reolink item as that had poor field of view too but the quality (and price) was far superior to this. As an internal camera unless its a massive room the main view isn't good enough, its too narrow. For a larger room or out of a window it might be better. I got 3 and 1 failed within 24 hours, suddenly got an alert for motion but it was the camera failing and recording pink screen. Very odd. Ordered a replacement and returning this unit. They are cheap (ish) though and I have tried a few other cheap options like this but the software is the usual let down. This YI app works really well actually. The motion recording is good, when you are live viewing and move the camera around it doesn't sense that as movement and trigger recording or send alerts. There is no option for recording quality, its just as it comes, maybe a good thing as nothing to alter but feels a bit too locked down. No option to link to a proper CCTV recorder/NVR which would be a good thing, maybe a firmware update one day? Probably going to keep these though, they do the job and are only for internal monitoring. Wouldn't cut it as a 'proper' camera as the video quality isn't good enough. The 720p versions must be even worse? The motion tracking works very well, that is a great feature that does seem quite reliable, I had it pointing into the room and if the door opened it could sense that and then turn to follow movement coming in and walking around the room. UPDATE 1 - 1 month in and only other bug with these is the camera in a upright (normal) position wont move the view down - so you can see straight horizontal/straight ahead and upwards, actually the panning up/down will allow the lens to go inside the housing when it points upwards, going past the natural limit which is a bit strange. I have modified this as per pics. If you prise the left side of the body open around the lens, there is a tiny moulded lump which is what stops the camera view going lower down. cutting that off with a sharp knife means the lens can roll a lot lower down so you can see what is happening at ground level when the camera is on a shelf or unit. If ceiling mounted you don't need to do this. UPDATE 2 - JUNE 2019 - With a simple to install hack (Search v4 hack crypto) this camera is now great, can be added to other software to view the RTSP feed. I have it set up now in the IPCam Viewer PRO app on Firesticks and in IOS. This means I can have my better 'proper' CCTV cams and these smaller handy ones all on display in one place. I have also managed to get them to now show on a zGemma Enigma 2 Satellite box. Brilliant. This is one of the bots that was missing and never looked likely to arrive courtesy of YI. With the hack all of the original software and features work just the same still too.

Superb, for the money.
For the money, this is a fantastic dome camera. I got this the next day, after ordering from Amazon, and had it up and running in 15 minutes. I plugged into my PC, downloaded the PC app from YI's website, installed and it, found the camera, you then get a scan code appear on your PC screen so you just hold the camera upto your screen, wait for a conformation voice from the camera, add your router settings, and you are good to go. From the off, the camera works great. I love the ability of dome cameras to move left, right, up and down - no zoom, though. You need to power it from a standard USB phone charger socket. I popped in a SDCard, so I can record at the touch of a button. You can then download videos from the camera to your PC, or record to a directory on your PC. For Night vision, I have dropped a star because it's pretty-much useless when looking out of a window. Even with a nice clean polished window, the camera just gets confused with the reflective surface and doesn't work properly. Turning off the infrared lights helps for a bit, but in pitch darkness it's useless. Good inside the home, but not for looking out of a window. Picture quality has also taken a star off because even though it's 1080p, it still looks a bit blocky and pixelated, but enough to put me off using it. In good sunlight it's good enough for what it does. Overall, a decent camera for the money. But, if like me, you want a security camera that can has night vision then you are better off with a outside-only camera.

Very poor ad riddled and restrictive app if you dont sign up for the cloud plan. AVOID
Good camera, good app. What makes it poor and not fit for purpose is the adds, if you don't go for their cloud plan and stick with basics then you cannot quickly check your camera to see who's running away with your stuff. For me, that's not fit for purpose. The motion sensing is a little eager at times (it will follow a house fly around), but you can turn its sensitivity down in the app. Update: DO NOT BUY this camera or any device from Yi. It is not fit for purpose. There is nothing wrong with the cameras, they are pretty good. BUT the software is beyond a joke. Not only are you bombarded with ads but, recently they have restricted you're viewing if you do not sign up to their cloud plan. This is a classic example of "you do not own the device that you bought" DO NOT BUY....there is a get around if you already have these cameras, search for older versions of the software on the internet and download the last version that doesn't restrict you.

Indoor Wifi Camera
These are good quality and easy to setup. I bought 3 to provide some security for when I work away - no it won't stop someone breaking in to my home, but hopefully if they do, they get to spend plenty of time in one of her majesty's hotels.... I have the HD version, the picture quality is good, the motion tracking is maybe too sensitive - you can adjust this, I have yet to reduce mine, as car headlamps create shadows on the walls, the camera records this, i would rather that, than it miss something important. You can switch the camera's off when you are home to stop unwanted motion detection. They require a micro SD card, class 10 minimum and no more than 32GB storage capacity, any bigger and you may get issues with compatibility. The other option is Cloud Storage, you get one month free then there are 3 options. I went for the "Upto 5 camera's with motion tracking and 15 days", which means you can have up to 5 camera's on one account, it is only motion tracking and store the images for 15 days then overwrites them. This cost 90 Euros, at this present time that is just under £79/annum. The SD storage is great, but if your house is broken into and they take your camera(s), you have no proof, so seriously consider the cloud storage (3 camera's cost £117 then 1 years cloud storage subscription (approx £79). We shouldn't have to go to these lengths to protect our homes, but unfortunately not everyone is honest.

Nice little IPCamera but tied to the YI ecosystem
Bought one of these in the Amazon Spring Sale to see what it's like. Very easy to set up with clear spoken instructions from the camera itself. A revelation compared to other IPCameras I've bought in the past. Good Android app to control the camera and view the real-time video. Motion detection works well and even if you exit the app, you still get audible alerts on the phone and if you select the alert it opens a viewing window. A small niggle here is that it doesn't automatically show the video associated with the alert, you have to select the alerts tab and then select the alert from a list to view it. Out of the box you can't view the video associated with the detected movement unless you insert a microSD card which is an extra cost. I assume that part of the software runs in the background on the phone to be able to handle the alerts. I don't know what affect this would have on phone battery life. There doesn't appear to be an option to use email to send alerts instead. The video shown is corrected for lens distortion and this seems to work well with straight lines being straight and not curved as on other cameras that use a spherical lens to get a wide field of view. As an alternative to using a microSD card, you can purchase a subscription to store the video in the YI cloud and play it back from there. This is currently starts at 20.00€ for a year for a single camera and the data is kept for 7 days before being overwritten. There is also a 5 camera subscription available and others where the data is kept for 15 and 30 days before being overwritten. You can download video from the cloud if you want to keep it permanently. There is a 30 day free trial available. So far so good, but the major problem for me, is that you can't use the camera outside the YI ecosystem. I use Blue Iris to control and view all my IPCams from different manufacturers (including webcams) from one platform. I can't do this with this IPCam as the necessary functionality is not included in the camera firmware. Also be aware that the IPCam will use a lot of upstream bandwidth (1Mbps for 1080p - their figures) to upload the video to the cloud, so you'll probably need a fibre internet connection as ADSL doesn't usually support upload speeds this fast. So to sum up, a nice little compact camera (smaller than all the IPCams I've bought previously) with good Android phone app support (I can't comment on the iPhone app). If you just use the micro SDcard option (I used a 64GB card) you can save the subscription fee. Probably no good if you already have IPCameras that you monitor from an app such as Blue Iris. There are hacks out there to mod the camera firmware to provide support for other protocols but probably not worth the effort as you can buy other IPCams with this support for around the same price.

A compact well made unit. Sharp lens and clear video all controlled by a stable full featured app. Recommended.
I read a lot of reviews and specs of similar wireless cameras before plumping for this model. There are many uses for these cameras; baby monitor, pet monitor or security when you are out. Or just keeping an eye on the kids or pet in the garden (through a window) as you get on with other things. Please note this camera is for indoor use only. I bought it for the security aspect. The item comes neatly boxed with a 2 metre Micro USB cable, usb 3 pin plug, a base tray and screws for fitting to a wall or ceiling and a basic set of instructions in a range of languages. The camera itself has a pleasant ‘head and shoulders’ appearance providing a solid base for the camera unit ball head on top. The unit base is Matt black (on my model) and the ball camera head is finished in high gloss piano black. At the rear of the base is a micro USB slot for mains connection and a micro SD slot for video recording. You can also save video to the Yi Cloud for an annual fee of around 32 euro with a one month free trial before you decide. The camera is controlled via an App available for both Apple and Android and this needs to be downloaded first. A QR code is supplied in the instructions for easy download. I recommend using it as simply searching the App Store or Google play brings up a number of app options. The App Setting up the camera is straightforward on both Apple and Android devices. The app is the same for both tablet and phone. Plug in and switch on the camera and the ball head revolves on a vertical axis to display the camera lens. This is a nice touch. Turning off the unit causes the ball head to revolve and protect the lens when off. Once turned on for the first time the app guides you through connecting to your WiFi. This is easier done on an Android device than iPad, but not the fault of the app. Once a connection is established a constant readout on signal strength appears in the app. I found no dropped signal in use. The downside of the app is that it provides instructions on use as you go and these aren’t intuitive. The best way to get used to it is to plunge in and ‘play’ until you get it set the way you want it. The settings menu is comprehensive and easily navigated allowing you to name the camera according to preset locations (kitchen, living room etc). There is a small blue light at the front of the unit to let you know it’s on. This can be turned off. The camera can be set to a fixed location or it can be used to track motion which it does extremely well. There is an IR light for night recording which gives a bright black and white image. The camera only records motion and stores these as alerts. An audible message is also sent to your phone/tablet. The alerts are accessed by a dedicated button on the app and appear as a picture with a time stamp. Tapping the picture gives a 6 second replay with the option to play the entire alert sequence. Alerts can be easily deleted. Alerts can also be viewed as a timeline, but this is difficult to use and not necessary. There is a two way microphone should you wish to speak remotely, or it can be set to receive only. The microphone is extremely sensitive and unless used as a baby monitor it is best left ‘off’. Passing cars produce an eerie Darth Vader breathing sound. You can also set the sensitivity of motion sensing between high, medium and low. When I used the camera to monitor garden/patio activity set to’high’ the camera alerted me to birds flying past. I set it to low so that it alerts to major movement only. The camera in use This camera would be ideal attached to a wall or ceiling however it needs mains access to work, so unless you have some means of cabling it’s unlikely that it will be used in this way. The cable is a generous length, but you are nevertheless constrained as to where it can be set up. The 1080p lens provides a crisp, clear image and is impressive in daylight or at night and using IR. There is some lens distortion and while this can be corrected to some degree in the app you will struggle to get a rectangular image. A minor point which you stop noticing very quickly. I use the camera indoors on a window sill facing out unto a garden and patio area as a form of early intruder detection. The profile of the camera means it blends in with any other windowsill ornaments. There is no distortion or haze operating through double glazing, however the IR light if turned on causes a strong reflection up close to glass and can’t be used in my setup. If you have outside security lights on a pir this will provide all the light you need to capture useable video. The image can be displayed on you device full screen allowing you a remote real-time monitor. I’m very pleased with this unit. It is well made and with a thoughtful pleasing design. The lens is very good indeed. It provides an extra layer of security/ confidence if you are away from home or out of sight of children. Both the app and firmware upgrade so the unit should stay up to date for some time. Video storage can be on a micro sd card and would be suitable for most domestic use, but the option of cloud storage is a nice touch. Highly recommended

Desiluisonada
Al principio funcionaba muy bien pero, al cabo de unas semanas, tenía problemas de conexión con el wifi de casa y no había manera. Ni reiniciando el router ni la cámara. Y era imposible conectarme para ver a mis perros. Devuelta.

convenience and safety
First of all, it's very easy to install, easy to use, and the app is simple and convenient. Picture clarity is also high, and there are two kinds of clarity to choose from depending on the speed of the network, and the real-time transmission delay is very short. Perfect for home use, put it in the bedroom or living room, I use it to see what the cat is doing when I'm away, also to a large extent to ensure the safety of the home, it is very reliable I have recommended to colleagues.
