Sample pad pro.
Great bit of kit . Limitless options of sounds if you use this in tandem with midi or uploading of files . Can be a little tricky to learn how to add to , but even the stock sounds are not bad at all. Responsive and durable. There does sometimes get a very small amount of cross talk . But Hardly ever . Easy to use the programmes . The only issue I had is the headphones socket stopped working for no reason at all . Could be just mine .? But there are other ways to connect the unit to amp etc . Pc . Overall well worth the money

Beats all competition for price/value
You cannot beat the value for price of this product anywhere. I have now bought two - one for my studio and one for the live band. Next best thing to the Roland Octopad but take a look at the pricing for both and you'll see why my vote goes to the Alesis. Pads are sensitive and responsive, its well builts and everyone likes the blue lighting, especially for the live shows! My only suggestion for improvement is that there's no PC/tablet based editing software for it which would make things so much easier. It's not hard to program a custom kit from your wav samples or whatever but it would just be the icing on the cake. The ability to connect a pedal or snare trigger is excellent although I haven't utlised that function yet. I've used the usb midi with my DAW (Ableton) and it works flawlessly. Great product.

Now Broken, was a good bit of kit.
The then 3 star review below was left a while back. Since then the pad has developed a fault, and it's only just out of warranty. Doh! Pads still work but the buttons controlling the unit fail 90% of the time I power on the unit. When this happens you cannot control anything or even do a software reset. Perhaps its cheaper price tag is reflected in its poor component quality. I'm gonna switch back to roland (when I've saved up again). Thanks for nothing Alesis. Origianl Review....Quite a lot of cross talk and even after much fettling with levels and sensitivity settings. It's not got as advanced footpedal control as I'd have liked amd external hit hat set up took some research amd experimenting and still won't quite do what I want. My v old roland td3 sounds as good or better except with Tom's which are deeper bass rich and more real than the roland in my opinion. Looks cool, easy to set up and navigate controls. Would have liked a larger in- built library of sounds and loading time for custom kits is v slow too. That said, it's also way cheaper than roland equivalent so a great bit of kit for quick and portable setup / gigging or small space practice kit. Also a cheap way of creating a hybrid kit for some interesting sounds and samples. Overall okay to good.

Terrible product. Had to replace the first one due ...
Terrible product. Had to replace the first one due to extreme cross-talk, latency, and under/over-sensitive pads. The replacement had the same issues. It got to the point that our gigs became an embarrassment. Amazon issued a refund, with no hassle. I give them due credit for that. This product, however! Utter shite. I understand that Alesis pitch themselves as the cheaper Roland, but this just takes the piss. Don't bother with all the forums that tell you to adjust sensitivity, and to download the updated firmware. It doesn't solve the issue. Ultimately, the crapness of this product is down to poor structural design and the use of cheap electronic components. Don't waste your time or money.

Charger faulty wouldn't turn on
The charger was faulty. It wouldn't turn on . Googled the problem and a common issue. Tried a charger from my alesi electronic kit it worked straight away. Returned item £300 p&p on top. Need something reliable for live performance. Gutted. As potentially really good product

Poor quality audio, but good as a MIDI controller
I purchased this to get back into drumming, but not wanting to pay for a Roland SPD unit. The line and headphone outputs are super noisy so I would recommend avoiding them, but as a MIDI controller connected to Ableton it's working really well for me. I haven't had the crosstalk issue others have complained about. Build quality is good and menu system is nice, although you can't rename kit presets which is annoying.

Broke within 1 week - save up and get something else!
Bought this to use as a MIDI controller. I really would not suggest buying this for any reason. Due to the (officialy suggested) crosstalk issue fix the playing experience is awful, but i tolerated it...until less than a week after arrival one of the pads stopped working. I have tried everything, factory resetting and firmware updates dont fix anything. Its really worth it saving up and buying a Roland or Yamaha product, and i can safely say i wont be buying anymore Alesis products in the future. You get what you pay for folks!

Fantastic piece of equipment!!
I felt intimidated to use this, it’s my first piece of equipment that plugs in. I received a drum trigger for a gift and watched some YouTube videos and visited Alesis’ website and downloaded their many extra free loops and samples. When it came down to use I was blown away at the ease of use. For someone who can feel overwhelmed by tech I can say that I felt comfortable setting it up, adding and using a kick drum trigger. I have added some info my own loops I wrote on a synth. I use it on a snare stand to the left of my hats and am comfortable with that. It’s opened up a whole new world of drumming for me, at, what I feel, to be a very reasonable price. Only purchase 32 gig SD cards as anything larger can not be read. I’m very, very excited about this purchase!

Reliable pad
I’ve been gigging with this pad for a couple of years now and it has performed flawlessly. You just need to understand that for every input , volume change , anything, you have to save every move.
