If you're typing numbers rather than letters the numpad lock is on - press FN + the insert/numlk key at the top right of the keyboard.On some PC bios you can set the default of numlock to on or off.

Hello, from your description, we think that you are facing the numLk problem. Please note that PERIBOARD-407 is as mini keyboard without numeric keypad. Due to windows default setting that NumLk is activate when you turn on the PC, when you type UIOP, it show 456*Please deactivate the NumLk (FN+NumLk) and you can type English letters.

Spacing: could anyone please share the measure between the beggining of the q and w keys? (in my current keyboard it's 3.7cm)

From the start of the Q to the start of the W is 1.9CM. From the start of the Q to the end of the W is 3.3CM.

Does it work with Chromebooks? Which function keys work? Many thanks.

Yes, it works fine with a Chromebooks - I'm writing this response using an Acer Chromebook and Perixx 407B. All the Fnn function keys work as expected so, for example F3 is reload and F10 is increase volume. The dedicated page up and down, home and end keys are particularly useful with a Chromebook.
