BLACK+DECKER Hand Held Paint Sprayer

I have read different comments on these HVLP spray guns. After reading the comment from the lady above I decided To buy one. If it painted her room it should be Good enough for my cabinets ;) As she said this gun and probably all the other hvlp guns do sputter. Let's face it, this tool is an electrical version of a flit gun, the old fashioned bug sprayer. What do you expect? There is no compressed air in a cylinder so you can't have proper consistent delivery from the Nozzle. Instead of the hand pump in the flit gun, in this tool there is a hair dryer in the rear that blows some air. The coverage is small But it is effortless spraying. I used waterbased paint from wickes, it is known as cupboard paint. Cleaning was easy as I didn't let the paint dry in the gun. I filled up the tank with water shook it and emptied it repeated it 4-5 times then filled up the tank with clean water again and spray the water to clean up the nozzle. Then and only then I disassemble the nozzle parts for a through cleaning. I diluted the cupboard paint by adding 10 percent water from the tap. I am happy with the result and I would love to do more painting with this gun. A few suggestions for the buyer. 1) read the manual 2) try to disassemble all the parts to learn how it works 3) fill it up with some water and spray it in the kitchen or bathroom to see how effective it is and you will notice the sputtering 4) initially work with waterbased paint as oil based paint might be a pain for inexperienced. You may need gallons of of white spirit to clean up things. Water is free and highly available 5) be realistic this gun will not give you a good cover and if you overspray, the paint will run down so your project will be ruined. Make 5-6 light coats. Let every coat dry properly. Patience is the key. Don't assume that you can work much faster than roller you probably can't. But you will have an excellent finish for a diyer. I see no problem with spraying dulux gloss paint. It should be ok when thinned. Please people write your experience and projects here so we can all learn something . Good luck.

Okay, not one for writing reviews but thought i would make an exception here. I wasted good money on the Cuprinol Paint Sprayer. I ended up painting by hand two 6 x 6 fence panels (3 coats 2 hours). I now had another 12 fence panels to paint, the thought of which did nothing for my mood. With the Cuprinol Sprayer now occupying the rubbish bin I set about looking for an alternative sprayer. I saw this sprayer as a recommendation on one of the many forums I visited during my search. For the price it was worth a punt, after all I just chucked £20+ pound in the bin. I have Amazon Prime membership so this sprayer was with me the very next day. My Findings. Well packaged and all the accessories you need. Worked great with Cuprinol Shades with no thinning required, just a thorough mixing. Coverage was reasonable with at least 4 coats required to a new fence panel. I managed to cover 4 panels in under an hour. This will vary of course with each requirement. The unit does get heavy when filled with paint. This may be an issue for some. Overspray is not too much of a problem, but you need to be aware that there is some. Cleaning is a breeze the main parts need to be cleaned can be separated from the main unit. I'm not a professional sprayer and I got expectable results with my first outing with this unit. I'd highly recommend this product. Stay away from the Cuprinol Sprayers they really are Cr*p

I would have given this spraye 5 stars if it wasnt for two quality errors,I finally got a chance to use this to spray my green fence panels,I mixed water with the green fence treatment the used a filter to fill the attached plastic sprayer container through the side ,when I started spraying the fence treatment fluid came out of the container,when I checked the rubber seal had not been fitted properly at the factory,after fixing this I tried again,fluid then came out of the screw fitting at the top of the fluid container,I found that it had a dip on the rim where it had not been finished flat properly,a bit of sandpaper on a flat bit of wood and some sanding later helped but I still had to tighten this fitting with a boa belt strap to stop the leak,after this the sprayer performed faultlessly,I am a bit dissapointed that this BLACK and DECKER product had these faults as their products are usually good,I didn't use the fluid meter and just guessed the mixing of fence treatment and water,once you get it right its easy,if its too thick it won't spray,I gave my fence panels four coats each and they looked great,I wish I had got one earlier,when finished I just washed the bowl with water and sprayed clean water through it,I am only using this sprayer for green treatment,you will get two fence spays per full bowl of fence treatment so regular filling is nessessary,the filling top is awkward to screw back on,easy adjustment of spray pattern and volume control which let's more/less fluid through,even with the bowl full of liquid its very light,I would recommend.

Purchased this item to do my mothers fence all 120 feet of it, inside and outside, front and rear. I have used various paint sprayers in the past, even the old fashioned way using the brush, what used to take days now takes hours. Purchased this item and what a bargain for the price and a quality piece of kit, so easy to use and so easy to fill and detach for cleaning purposes. This item also has a mixing jug and viscocity unit and a cleaning brush, as with other paint sprayers this does not spill half over the floor, cannot speak highly enough about the item, hell you would think that i had shares with black and decker. I would recommed this to anyone who like me needs to manage my time well but do a great job. Happy days.

great for collecting dust on a shed or garage shelf, completely useless/thin down your paint,And boy do you need to thin it down, otherwise clogs-up,when you work out the thinning percentage and get it right,it sprays fine,but then the down side is the paint is so thinned down, you require many coats,waiting long times between coats and brush in hand to constantly clear the runs which I found unavoidable even with quick passes,I did try hard,I now come to terms I may just use it for spraying my fences,were a good non run finish is not necessary/having now used it for fences cuprinol, it made a terrible mess, thank goodness the customer was out and i had time to put it right with a brush. goodness knows what its any good for!!!!

I looked forward to an easy time painting my room ahead of Christmas. I was using emulsion paint and added water to thin as needed. Started fine, mix correct but paint spray was a bit weak to cover properly. After a few minutes, paint formed around the nozzle and it dripped then spat paint. I stopped and cleaned the nozzle area, mixed the paint in the delivery pot and started again. This I had to repeat several times during use. I re-sprayed the room again for a good finish. Cleaning was not a problem, washing up liquid cleaned the most, but the nozzle took longer as the fine hole didn't want to clear. Left that to soak, put it all back together and used hot water and a small amount of turps, the a fine needle to finally clear it. Would recommend it for small jobs only, unless your prepared the do what I described above.

I am very excited with this product. I purchased another and sadly mid use I had to return it, so I was willing this to work well . It was easy to set up , they give you instructons on the viscosity of the paint (how to thin it) I searched for more info and went for about 20 seconds. Sprayed beautifuly and doing my fences took no time at all. I did not find it going too wild and managed some accuracy. Cleaning was no too difficult . Cant wait to use it again. Would highly reccomend :) happy customer

Being looking at one for a while. read lots of reviews both positive and bad for same product. Decided that I would go with a name brand as you can trust it. I have used so far for 2 project. 1st to prime/undercoat of chipboard. Did a great job, would say you will use more paint due to wastage and pooling. I never needed to water down as is most worries. 2nd was to stain/paint a greenhouse before assembly. Probably used more paint that if handed painted, but I would rather that with one coat and I truly hate hand painted. Hence why I bought this in the first place. Cleaning is easy as it dismantles into relevant pieces. So far they have been water based paints and has cleaned easy. It recommends you use whatever is said on paint tin for cleaning. Once cleaned you need to reassemble and fill up with cleaning solution(whatever used to clean eg soapy water) and spray out for a few secs to clear out the tube/nozzle. Overall it has made someone who hates hand painting with a passion, love to paint now with this.
