Really useful product, makes it easy to position your dowels I used them when building the furniture for our campervan. I would recommend them.

These work well and can be recommended. I had noted on reviews that other similar items were not very pointy but these worked a treat.The price was better than the others but it took a long time to find them on the Amazon site which put them many pages down. A shame as they really are good.

Great little bit of kit. Very easy to use and good quality. Good quick delivery. Recommended for those little D.I.Y jobs that require dowels. All you have to do is drill a hole in one end of a board (8mm in this case) Place in to drilled hole (with sharp pin facing out) Line up the other board to which the dowels will be located and give it a tap ( I used a rubber mallet! but use with caution as it doesnt need to be a hard ht as the pins are sharp) and on the other board it will give you a precise mark to where to drill. Such a simple but effective bit of kit.

Some of my corner joints on my kitchen cupboards I am making will be visible. I am using 18mm melamine faced chipboard so can't easily glue the joint so I have gone for a knockdown construction which is also very strong. I am using 8mm dowels interspaced with Confirmat screws where they are hidden from view. Where joints are visible I am using the dowels interspersed with Hafele cam locks and bolts. Having drilled 5 x 8mm dowel holes I wanted to place dowels in position 2 and 4 and fit the camlocks in positions 1, 3 and 5. So after inserting the two dowels in put the centre points in the other 3 holes and tapped the joint firmly with a rubber mallet. I then had 3 indents in the perfect position for drilling the 5mm pilot holes to screw in the 34mmm long cam bolts. The cam bolts are 7mm diameter and need an 8 mm clearance hole, the same diameter as the holes for the wooden dowels. My dowel drilling depth is 28mm which is just long enough for the cam bolts to reach into the cavity for the cam lock. Using the position of the cam bolts it is then easy to determine the centre point to drill the 15mm hole for the cam lock. I used a Forstner bit to get a neat flat bottomed hole. Using these centre points helped make the job really easy.

Really happy with these, can't believe I didn't buy some sooner.The point is sharp and makes a good mark in the wood showing you where you need to drill. The body is solid and fits snugly in the hole - you won't be able to turn the piece upside down without them falling out but they certainly don't wobble all over the place so you can get a nice accurate alignment.For this price I'll be ordering more so I've got some spares for when I inevitably lose them!

I ordered 6mm, when they arrived the packaging said 6mm, however the tips inside are 8mm. This is a Wolfcraft issue, I have emailed their Amazon Support email address.

I would never buy any other dowel centres again. I have bought cheaper ones and there is no point (literally). These are more pricey than the rest but you get what you pay for. It’s just a shame they can get lost so easily.

By far the fastest and most accurate way to dowel. Especially if “adding” to existing whilst in situ.Although I’ve never had the problem of them falling out, you could always put a bit of tape around them if they’re a little loose in the halls – this is an easy and quick solution. Not really something to moan about!
