Decent Headset for the price, still work after 5 years.
I bought a pair of these May 2017 and the only reason I remember that date is because Amazon tells me when I look at them. They were the first headset I bought myself that I paid "silly price" for as my mum would say and that was even discounted but there's a good reason for that, they're really good quality. They're very comfortable (as someone that wears glasses, headphones usually pose a problem but I've never experienced discomfort wearing these) The Audio quality is astounding, crystal clear, good bass and after a while you can tell when surround sound isn't enabled. The mic was pretty good quality however I ran into a problem after a few months where there would be static or a buzzing on the mic, I put this down to the fact that when I wasn't using the mic I would unplug it and the port must have just been worn out? I'm not too sure but I would just suggest not unplugging it all the time like I did. 5 years later the headset is still working perfectly however as you can imagine the daily ware and tear has taken its toll on these poor things and I'm not a light user. Over those five years they have been used anywhere from 4 hours a day to over 12 and these are some of the issues I've only just encountered in the last couple of months; The leather on the ear cushions began peeling and I would find it on my desk, in my hair, on the floor so I had to remove them and replace them with the fabric ones that come in the box. Still very comfortable but I have to spend a bit of time pulling stray hairs and random fuzz out of them, anybody that's ever owned fake leather knows that this happens after a while even if you take good care of it. The Audio Control box still works but would cause a static disruption over what I was listening to from time to time, I put this down to ware and tear of over 5 years of use but also I would unplug the headset regularly so that I could use it on my phone or plug into my playstation controller. I had to stop using it and now my headset plugs directly into a port on my pc, still sound great but don't really have the easy volume functions anymore. All in all this is a really great headset for a decent price and if you take decent care of your belongings it could last you a decent amount of time. I'm just leaving this review now because they were so good I'm getting a new pair as a replacement so I can retire these old ones.

Comfortable to wear and very very good for the cost.
Great headset for the money. I know it isn't wireless but you can forgive that due to the quality of sound and comfort of the ear cushions. They are not too tight on the head and give a good level of exterior noise suppression so you can't hear the wife calling for you to do other jobs whilst in the middle of your favourite game or music album. The microphone is removable should you wish to not use it or you can simply bend it out of the way and then back again when required. My fellow gamers are impressed with the voice quality too. The button to switch to 7.1 really does give the sound a kick although the sound is not suitable for all media types. The 7.1 is better for concert hall type music in my opinion and you do have to switch it into 7.1 after every restart of the pc although I rarely use the feature. Good lightweight adjustable headset and very hard wearing. I've owned mine for over 2 years now and it is still in full use. Plug and play so not silly driver installs.

Excellent headset
I bought a pair of the HyperX Cloud II headset, and they were so good, I came back and bought another. The sound is very, very good for the price. I also bought a more expensive headset around the same time by a different manufacturer and I have to say they were nowhere near as good as the HyperX Cloud II. The headset comes with a USB cable and a clip-on soundcard, with separate volume control and separate mic input level. There's also a button to activate the 7.1 virtual surround sound. I should mention that this headset also works without the accompanying USB cable - in that it can be plugged straight into a standard 3.5 mm jack. There's not that much loss of quality by removing the USB connection, but you do then lose the 7.1 virtual surround sound and the volume and input controls, as well as leaving the overall length of the cable much shorter. But it is useful to be able to connect it in a standard way through the 3.5 mm headphone jack. One issue I noticed, was that you need to make sure that the detachable mic "boom" is plugged in all the way - it almost has to click right in, otherwise the mic may not work, or it can even fall off the headset. This mic issue did not affect the overall usefulness of the headset for me, but it might become a problem for someone using it for gaming where more physical movement is involved. Incidentally, I only noticed the difficulty plugging the microphone in all the way with one of the two headsets I bought, so it may be a one-off. Since the boom mic part is fully detachable, for anyone just wanting to use the headset as headphones, then they will work very well for this, without the intrusive mic getting in the way or sticking out. I used one of the pairs I bought purely as headphones - minus the mic part. The sonic quality is incredible and you barely hear any external noises around you. The bass is excellent as well as the general fidelity of the sound. They are comfortable on the ears and I highly recommend the headset. I think they are worth 5 to 10 times the price they actually cost.

In-Depth Kingston HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset Review.
Well, I have owned this headset for a couple months now and overall I would think I am fairly pleased. The build quality is fantastic and the headset is extremely comfortable to wear and it will not increase in weight the longer you wear it. The cables are braided and are fairly average in length providing a comfortable wear without risk of damaging the cable. Thanks to the foam built within the headphones, your hearing outside of the headset will be minimized to give you a more realistic and direct experience. It is also useful if you will be using these in a noisy environment. This also minimizes sound-bleed, with all the tests I did I could not detect any bleeding unless the volume was extremely high, which is unlikely as I found the headset fairly loud even at about 50%. Audio without USB dongle: The sound is crystal clear and sublime at every volume, you should feel fairly relaxed with such a lightweight and comfortable headset whilst accompanied by undisturbed audio for a fantastic experience. You can hear the bass perfectly well unlike other "gaming" headsets. Note without the dongle you cannot use the microphone or 7.1 virtual surround sound. Audio with USB dongle: With the addition of the USB dongle you will be able to benefit from the 7.1 virtual surround sound and be able to use your microphone. However this is where things start changing, when using the USB dongle you might start to hear crackling and audio disruptions at low volumes. This is a known fault caused by the USB dongle (not this is not the case with all headsets) however audio will not be affected at higher volumes. Personally I would not use the USB dongle unless it was for the microphone or 7.1 sound but as my laptop's 3.5mm jack does not work I have no choice. 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound: The 7.1 virtual surround sound is great, when in video games that are impacted by the audio it really does make an immense change. Despite it being only virtual, you will still be able to determine where audio is coming from whether North, South, East, West and all other possible directions without any sort of disruptions. Note that in games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive this really does improve your capabilities. Xbox/PS: This headset is compatible with both the xbox and playstation however you will NOT be able to use your microphone and the 7.1 surround sound will not work at all for most games. Do note this is primarily designed to be a PC gaming headset, if you're looking for a xbox/playstation headset I would strongly recommend turtlebeach. Issues: At lower levels whilst using the USB dongle I could hear a very distinctive crackling sound that disturbed audio levels and sound quality. After a couple months my USB dongle also started experiencing another fault, at times when I moved the dongle or accidentally pulled on the cord I would lose all sound and the only way I could recover from this is to unplug my headset completely, wait a few seconds and plug it back in. This is extremely bothersome in the middle of a game. Note I do not pull ANY cables out, the USB dongle simply seems to bug/glitch and it causes a complete loss of sound. I have contacted HyperX over at kingston and they are sending me a new USB dongle free of charge due to this fault. Note that I am not the only one who has had this issue, if you do experience it and you can confirm the fault is with the USB dongle then contact the Kingston support and do give them details and ask for a replacement. Note your warranty must still be intact if you do not wish to pay. Conclusion: This is an all-round, fantastic headset. The build, sound, 7.1 and microphone are all of fantastic quality. For £70 this really is a good deal however I cannot give it 5 stars due to the disappointing faults with the USB dongle. Despite known faults having been around for a while I have not heard of any planned fixes from HyperX themselves.

Comfortable, works as intended, top notch quality. Looks astonishing.
Firstly the audio quality is to be expected; absolutely perfect. To be honest though I can't tell the difference in some of the high end headphones. The technology isn't so different to call this revolutionary or anything but it's a step above and beyond from ear plugs. The mic unplugs from a jack in the left ear bud, I really appriciate the option to remove it as I use a seperate mic. For this reason I can't comment on it as I don't and have never used it. Though in my experience the quality is just fine for what you need it for and audio quality is still charming despite it not being crystal clear. The removeability of the mic means I never need to move or position it out of the way and can keep it safely stored inside the box in case I need it later. The USB control box is an extender and can only be used if you choose to connect the headset's permenantly affixed 3.5mm Mini stereo jack plug into it - this will add an additional 2m to the length of the cable. The Mini stereo jack plug cable is 1m and is permenantly affixed to the headset. 3m is the max length once everything is connected. There is one drawback for the control box and it is my only real complaint about this product; when you activate the 7.1 option it glows from underneath with an agressively powerful red. To fix this I just taped over it with some electrical tape to avoid the small LED from lighting up my room. It's too much. The ear cushions are comfortable, of course. Though I transitioned from Razer Kraken Pro to these I am not use to the oval shape. It's still very comfortable and barely noticable but I do sometimes become aware of the strange shape that's pressing on the side of my head. I have found that with previous headphones I have been self-consious of the size of the headband and ear buds but the HyperX Cloud is thin enough for me to never worry about it doesn't feel like I'm wearing a crown of silliness on my head. The colours aren't distracting either and blend well with I think any set up. And it looks amazing. The grey gunmetal is conservatively used as to not be overwhelming in its design. The grey gradient transitions nicely from band to bud. It is beautiful for an item you will rarely see if used correctly. Again I don't feel self-consious about using this headset as it lacks unnecessary aesthetics.

High quality, great comfort and indestructible
I've had this headset for 4 years and it's by far the most superior headset I've ever owned. I've had a turtle beach set where the plastic headband snapped within days of the years warranty ending. I had a Tritton headset that was similar, the plastic headband started to crack. Both those headsets where good in terms of sound and microphone but couldn't hold up to daily use. No one should have to shell out £100's on something that breaks within the first year. Somehow, Kingston can make a set using metal and make them cheaper and better than the competition. This set however, I have dropped countless times where the cable has gotten caught on my chair (my fault for dangling it off my desk) or the cat has jumped up and gotten caught in the cable also putting a lot of strain on the connections. Nothing seems to have affected them they still work perfectly. I'm no audiophile but I think the quality is excellent, I use windows dolby atmos on my PC and they sound amazing. The mic quality is the best of any headset as well, most of my friends got this headset at some point because nothing beats the mic and the comfort. Before I bought these I was recommended the Arctis steel series by a colleague and the hyperx by another colleague. I went with the Arctis first because I tried my friends and they were comfy. After my first evening gaming my friends complained that they couldn't understand me because my mic quality was so bad, I also spent the whole night shouting because I couldn't hear myself talk due to the noise cancelling style. I sent them right back and bought the hyperx. I use the cloth ear pieces for the same reason as the Steel series, if I use the leather cups, I can't hear myself very well and end up shouting while gaming, if only other headsets gave you this option. I've even bought a second pair when I saw them on sale because if they ever discontinue this set, I want a backup for when mine eventually give up.

Great All Rounder and a great price!
For context i've had my headset for 3 years now and its still going strong! This headset is fantastic for the price. I have used and tried much more expensive options that have felt and sounded terrible in comparison to these. Firstly, the fact they give you the option between the USB and 3.5MM jack is great, they can be used on anything from your phone to gaming PC and will sounds consistent and great accross all devices. I mainly use these for gaming and they have balanced sound, with good bass that's not overpowering and fairly clear highs. No problem hearing footsteps in video games and never once had any feedback from other audio sources. Using this on my phone and nintendo switch via 3.5MM Jack also has great quality over 3.5mm with no issues. 3 Years in the ear cups are still in great shape, i switch between the leatheret and suade ones maybe once a year and neither are torn or broken. Detachable mic still going strong, i don't detach it often but its not looser that it was new. Only now has the heatshrink started to fail on the ends but its still flexible and holds position well regardless of the heatshrink damage which does not affect use. In terms of comfort and ergonomics, my head is on the larger side and i wear glasses, but never had a problem of felt any disconfort when using these for long gaming sessions. Feel super light on the head, sit snug on the ears with no weird pressure issues. Would recommed over anything Razer/Logitech as i've tried headsets from both these brands and MIC's sounds no where near as clear and Audio often sounds kinda meh on those.

UPDATED 5 years on - Extremely comfortable, powerful bass & made for gaming or music
UPDATE as of 27/08/21 I purchased this on the 04/04/16 and I am still using it to this day. These are by far the most comfortable headphones I've ever used and in terms of the amount spent va the amount used, it's fair to say I've got my moneys worth out of this. The padding has started to wear now, however, it's still comfortable and stuck on. I use these 8 hours a day for work currently 5 days a week and then again for when I'm gaming. My GO TO headphones and if they ever did break, I think I would just buy another pair of the same ones. === I purchased these back in April 2016 after my last set of headphones brokedown. I'm writing the review today because after I stopped gaming for around a year, I've gotten back into it. Not just that, but with working from home and taking calls/team meetings, I needed something more reliable than my standard earphones. Plugged in without the USB soundcard into my laptop and these were good to go. I forgot how GOOD these sound as the audio is so crisp, the bass so deep, it just gives a more satisfying feeling than listening to audio in earphones! I've been using these for 4 years now and they STILL work fine. I neglected the USB Cable so it will cut out if it's moved, but that's because my little one has been tugging on the wire and I have just kept it coiled up for a while. Since you can unplug the jack from the USB drivers, you can carry on using it even if the USB cable has stopped working. Pros: GREAT sound DEEP bass Noise cancelling mic Very good mic which I've had so many compliments for on my gaming sessions Comes with a USB driver with soundcard built in, great if your PC/laptop's soundcard is crap Can be used as 3.5MM Jack OR as USB Detachable Mic so you can still use as daily headphones Price is very reasonable for what you get CONS Wire with just 3.5MM jack is a little short for my liking (but if you're going to use the USB cable, it'll be MORE than long enough). USB cable wire can wear down over time (but again, this may be my neglect and the way it's plugged into my PC) Summary This may be the best gaming headset I've used, It's so comfy for long our gaming sessions 7+ hours tested and does not squeeze your ears in any way The sound quality is great and the option to use the drivers built into the adaptor or not 5 stars

... of my first major headsets - I feel very happy for the quality of the product and the price ...
One of my first major headsets - I feel very happy for the quality of the product and the price paid (a bit over 100 with shipping). From background researching headsets currently available, this one appears to be the best purchase for a mid-high range headset that does not feature full surround sound. If you are looking for surround sound as a must have, this does have simulated 7.1 (which is okay, see below) but expect to pay an extra 100 dollars if you want a same quality headset featuring full surround sound! First Impressions: The product came in a well packed shipping box - no damage. The outer product box detailing the specs of the headset opens to reveal a very stylish, slick looking box with a subtle, glossy HyperX logo. Lifting the top off the box revealed indulgent foam packing, presenting the headset and it's accessories in elegant style. The packaging alone made me feel like I had bought something worthwhile with a lot of care and thought put into the experience of unboxing, and storage. The box itself is nice enough that I'm hanging on to it for future use (and storage of the headphones if need be). First Tests: I started by plugging the headset fresh out of box into my phone and putting on a range of music - the sound quality is phenomenal. After using the stock headphones that come with phones, and higher quality ear buds, this set gives such a rich experience that I'm quite blown away with the overall sound. All sound ranges are audible and present a full bodied suite of balance options with devices that allow you to mix. I then plugged the headphones into my high performance laptop and listened to another sample body of music - sound quality again was great, and my motherboard sound processing really gave a bit of extra juice to the head set that the phone did not provide (noticeable, but they still worked excellently well on the phone). Using my mixing options on the computer I put the headphones through their paces with full ranges of balance and they held up across the board. In terms of a general purpose listening headset, these give quite the bang for buck - may other revues talk about these being audiophile level quality, and I would have to agree. Gaming Test + Mic: I plugged the headset into my laptop again and hit up a few games - alone then with friends. Solo: Again the headset performs to impress - the games sounded new and fresh, I heard familiar scenes/sounds in games with a whole new light. Everything from loading music to in game audio of reloading, shooting, character voices, and ambient atmosphere became not only more apparent, but completely engrossing and impressive. You can finally hear the real quality and detail that sound engineers have put into games to make a fully immersive experience. Can't say enough how impressed I am. Group + Mic: Voices and sound come through really well. The mic comes through very clear, though not professional recording quality, gamer approved quality for sure. My friends could immediately tell I had made a change to my set up by the way I sounded - for the better. Everyone agreed the mic quality was clear and ambient sounds around me were significantly muffled compared to an open mic. Xbox One: I plugged these into my xbox One controller + stereo headset adapter. Again sound quality impressed me (Last Word in Destiny has so many bonus sounds that I hadn't heard before!) They may not be surround sound, but the soundstage certainly helps you pinpoint directionality of sounds when playing games. Mic issue: As of right now, the mic does not work with Xbox One, this is a firmware 'issue', in so far as Microsoft has not updated their system to support the mic YET. I contacted Microsoft and I'm assured that all 3rd party headsets will have their specs updated into the console/controller and full mic functionality is coming. Comfort: These are a dream to wear, super comfortable and the replaceable foam ear pads easily switch out for the included velour ear pads which are just as nice, and help keep your ears cool. The head band is also very generously padded. Super comfy to wear even over long periods of gaming/music or movies. 7.1 Surround sound and Included USB dongle: My laptop's motherboard sound drivers do a completely comparable, if not all around better job than the dongle. You lose a lot of quality upon plugging in the dongle, the ability to control the sound from the dongle IS nice, but not worth the hit to sound quality. That being said, if you have a slower PC or no real built in audio options, the Dongle can roughly match what my top of the line Asus can do. Remember that not every PC has built in, or quality sound cards that can drive this headset to its full potential - the dongle can bridge that gap - buyer beware if you already have good sound options in your PC the Dongle is not worth the extra money compared to the original cloud headphones. The differences are subtle but if you can grab these at the same cost - do so. Overall: BUY THESE. Awesome headset if it's in your price range and no surround sound is not a deal breaker. For their price I doubt you could find a better all in one set up.
