Visionary director J.J. Abrams brings to life the motion picture event of a generation. As Kylo Ren and the sinister First Order rise from the ashes of the Empire, Luke Skywalker is missing when the galaxy needs him most. It's up to Rey, a desert scavenger and Finn, a defecting stormtrooper, to join forces with Han Solo and Chewbacca in a desperate search for the one hope of restoring peace to the galaxy. Plus deleted scenes Review: Ten Again - I think if you have to say the worst thing about The Force Awakens it is that someone has taken all your favourite Star Wars toys and is playing with them, and you are just watching. And that in a nutshell is most likely what causes most people the MOST grief about the film. For me my first "awareness" of the whole Star Wars saga was back in 1976 when we heard via newspapers and the odd TV news that "something" was coming across the Atlantic. And I was sitting in school and we'd just been given a new "book" catalogue and there was the paperback for Star Wars written by George Lucas (as I learned a few years later actually by Alan Dean Foster............) Loved the first (no 4). Actually read the book of Empire Strikes Back before I saw the film (another Dean Foster tie in) - those were the days - and although I liked Return of the Jedi I did think it had gone too "childish". In fact I saw it in a packed local cinema, now an OAP home, where at 17/18 I was the oldest person amongst a mass of 7 to 12 years olds. The target audience. Then. Now JJ Abrams and me are about the same age and he has tackled what most would not want to tackle. Something that has to "hit" me and my age group and something that will "hit" the new target market like my kids who have grown up with Dad saying "You HAVE to see this!" Yes we all suffered through the Lucas era of I, II and III. Not so much someone playing with your toys but actively selling new ones to you! And that is what is strange about this film. It does not SELL you anything. Old characters, new characters, old ships, new ships, but Disney have been surprisingly "adult" about it. Maybe in many years when we have Star Wars 27: Return of Jafar and His Crazy Sidekick.......... So no spoilers and I did not see it on release, I waited for the Blu Ray, but it is worth it. And something else? It is a film that will be worth watching again, and it will get better with each viewing. Blu Ray quality is excellent - they really could not drop the ball. Abrams likes to move the camera and some of the shots in the aerial battles are stunners and will NEED to be watched again and again. I'd had a rubbish week with me losing a job through redundancy. This was something to look forward to. It made me forget. It did what Star Wars was meant to do. Roll on the rest, Disney. Review: Fantastic - Great movie. As a hardcore Star Wars fan I was so annoyed when Disney killed the stories of the expanded universe, which were the original stories based after ROTJ. I loved them and still do (The Thrawn Trilogy of books are amazing so go read them) so I was not looking forward to this movie. At all. But I went to the cinema on opening day, like I did for the other SW movies. (Prequels, I was born in 85 so didn't have the pleasure of seeing the original trilogy on release years, and yes I do love the prequels, unpopular or not) As I watched episode 7 I immediately changed my attitude. It was amazing. The acting was the best it ever has been in a Star Wars film, (Daisy Ridley was excellent, despite what that disrespectful sexist clown in one of the negative comments said) a true Star Wars fan can appreciate this movie. Even me, a hardened original EU fan. Do I prefer the force awakens to the original post ROTJ stories of the old expanded universe? No. I grew up with those stories and characters, Jaina and Jason Solo,THE OLD REPUBLICS Revan, Nihilus etc. But is it worthy of the title of "Episode 7" worthy of being the follow on from Jedi? Yes! It's an amazing movie. If you're a casual Star Wars fan (movies only) then you'll enjoy it, even a lot of non Star Wars fans would enjoy this film. If like me you're a die hard Star Wars crazy person I'd be surprised if you don't like this film. It was great. If you're a complete film snob that thinks nothing is as good as the originals then to me you're not even a fan. This was an amazing movie. I definitely recommend it.

One of my favourite films ever
Let me first begin by admitting that I never grew up loving Star Wars, I only caught them when they were on TV and I'd watch them, not engrossed in just how important they would be to many, many, many fans. Fast forward to a trailer I saw a while before the release date....and I was totally and utterly blown away by how stunning this film looked, so I promptly booked my ticket. And I have not regretted my decision. I sat in that cinema, surrounded by dedicated Star Wars fans, and was mesmerised by the set pieces, the characters, the action, everything about it was just.....stunning. I came out of the cinema, found my then cinema buddy, and we couldn't stop talking about it all the way to the train, and even then we couldn't stop gushing about this amazing piece of cinema. In the coming months I saw the film another 2 times, and loved it even more. By this time I'd managed to catch the original trilogy, and even those I absolutely love to bits. On Bluray release day I got home to find my preordered item waiting. I promptly changed from work clothes and yup, the film went straight into the player......and stayed there for a month. I highly recommend this film to everyone who wants a fun, very funny, very action packed film to watch on a Sunday afternoon. You won't be disappointed. I am already waiting with excitement for next year........."Chewy, we're home!'

THE STORY THAT MADE US ALL BELIEVE ONCE MORE
What to say about this that hasn't already been said? On account of this particular review being being written as Rogue One is Currently (in true STAR WARS Style) ) resisting all attempts to remove it from top spot in the Cinema charts? (apart from the fact I've only just spotted this request to write a review as well) This seems a little irrelevant but here goes anyway! A Long time ago, in A galaxy Far Far Away! A "Salvage Scrap worker" ends up becoming the latest recruit to join the Rebel Alliance.her droid (introducing BB8) it seems contains ( unbeknownst to all but a few - a vital part of a hologram map,, which needs to be delivered to the alliance..Pursued across the Galaxy by a force of Stormtroopers led by a new Arch Villain, Kylo Ren the , the highest ranked of the Ren Knights.. What follows is one rip-roaring adventure, in the best traditions of Start Wars, complete with the imagery and fine array of villains and odd characters which only Star Wars seems able to produce,. The battle is on to retirieve the information that will prove yet again vital in rhe battle against a new Death Star (it's many years after the original war against the Imperial Order) Daisy Ridley quite correctly draws a lot of the focus on this film but there are a few others also worthy of note, not least Andy Serrkis as The Master,. I Remember, before this was even released for the screen, there were a lot of worries, due to the fact that it was the First STAR WARS to be produced by Disney, ho would they handle something live and non-animated, and as well loved as Star wars? It was, a couple of times wondered if it wouldn't be better, given that the Clone Wars and a Phantom Menace were hardly box office magnets if it was time to move on, then came the news of Harrison Ford's serious accident on set, (which you can see no hint of at all in the film, not even a specific scene where you can say "Ah that must have been where it happened") and you began to think "maybe this is jinxed and it not meant to be" but Full credit to JJ Abrams and his team, , they have produced a stunner well worthy of joining the first three episodes at the top of the best seller charts. NO SPOILERS, so don't worry, you won't find out anything unexpected, before you watch it, but do prepare yourselves for a bit of a shock when you see a couple of familiar faces, I know if's over 30 years since a New Hope was screened, and therefore we're all obviously thirty years older ourselves, but it was still a massive surprise to see how old they actually looked. Finally, What was with Mark Hamill's Appearance? Was he paying homage to Ricky Tomilnson's TV Character Jim Roylae?

The Force *has* Awoken
When I went to see Episode VII at the cinema, I was completely reunited with the 6 year old who first went to watch Episode IV and Episode V in a 1980 double-bill. I can honestly say that pretty much every feeling I experienced that year came back and embraced me with a warm and friendly hug. The more negative critics will say that this ripped off Episode IV, but whilst I think that accusation is understandable, it is baseless when you understand what J.J. Abrams was trying to achieve. Many shots and sequences *do* echo things we have seen before (most notably in the original trilogy), but these are *deliberate* nods. What Kasdan and Abrams have set out to do is to steady the boat. They wanted people who were disillusioned with the prequels to step into a pair of comfy old slippers and know that what is new is faithful to the spirit of what is old. Kasdan won't be able to use this trick again but I don't think he will aim to do so. I anticipate that episodes VIII and IX will remain true to the spirit but will head in new exciting directions. My only true criticism is that the film doesn't end in the place where perhaps it should. I am absolutely convinced that in the original plan, the film would have ended with the Falcon leaving the Resistance headquarters and disappearing off into the galaxy - because again this was a deliberate nod towards the iconic ending of Episode V. However I can see why the action continued for another scene... people would have probably been enraged if they had not seen a certain person... and if I'm honest, I may well have been among them. Some elements may appear to have been underused... but I have a sneaking suspicion that minor roles here are set-up and may pay off in longer and more important performances later on.

Good action but for characterisation of Rey and Finn
First the good: It's everything that the original Star Wars was with the added judicious use of CGI. The action is fast paced and best of all the screen isn't cluttered with advertorials for merchandising. (I'm convinced the idea of the Jar Jar Binks character of Episodes I to III was merchandising rather than a characterisation driven) In fact you could say the same for Episodes I to III and for the Ewoks in Episode VI which were clearly teddy bear substitutes. (Would tree-swinging arboreal creatures have evolved short stumpy arms and legs?). [SPOILER ALERT]: Also the idea of a Stormtrooper turned renegade is always interesting. Now the bad i.e. why its 3 instead of 5 stars: Much has already been said about the Jedi Skills which seem to come too quickly to the Rey character. I've read theories and now seen The Last Jedi and these criticisms sadly have come true, i.e. that Rey is a 'Mary Sue' trope. I was disappointed with the Finn character that showed so much promise. There was none of the difficulty or struggle that the character was going through internally. (For an example see the T'iuk character in the SG1series or the Kurt Russell character in the 1998 film Soldier) The suggestion was that he was conditioned or drugged. He seems to adapt too quickly to freedom given his stormtrooper upbringing. Perhaps more of this will come out in the next episode. This is typical of JJ Abrams; high on delightful action and pace but sometimes leaving character development and plot holes to be filled by audience imagination and asking for suspension of disbelief . Still overall a great film and I was waiting for the sequel (... until I actually saw the sequel but that's another review)

The Force Awakens is Amazing!
This movie is fantastic! It was a great way to bring Star Wars back for older fans, and also a great way to introduce the franchise to a new generation! The new characters are great, especially Finn, Han Solo was as funny and sarcastic as ever, Kylo Ren is a very threatening villain in this movie, and it was great to see some of the same locations we know and love from the originals once more. What more could a Star Wars Fan ask for?
