Panasonic ER-GP80 beard and hair trimmer

Highly recommended product. One of the best from the Panasonic family. ER-GP80 is a professional hair clipper that can easily be found in hairdressing salons as it is a men's and women's hair clipper. With its clean, powerful and precise cut, it not only allows you to cut short hair, but also to replace scissors to finish the tips in long cuts and for very thick hair. It is well equipped and guarantees excellent performance both with combs and with bare blades. Its blades, with a width of 46 mm, allows a quick and quick hair cut: the work will be particularly fast, leaving however less space for precision in the details, while still being suitable for thinning and adjusting the beard. What characterizes this Panasonic product are the 45 ° blades coated in carbon fiber and titanium. The inclination of the blades offers not only speed of execution, not compromising the quality. The adjustment can also take place without risers, for a cutting range from 0.8 mm to 2 mm, choosing from 5 sizes. An upgrade to previous Panasonic model I have used for a number of years - quality feel/weight, precise trimming. Panasonic produce the best trimmers and this one fulfills all requirements

Just over two years ago I bought the Panasonic ER-GP81 clipper and I found this to be way better than my previous corded Wahl machine that I was using - albeit that were similar priced (i.e. neither of them cheap by any means). Both the fact that it was cordless, and that it seemed to cut my hair much more easily and cleanly, made the task of cutting my own hair much quicker and with a better result. Unfortunately, the blade broke into many pieces on this previous Panasonic after only 25 months of use; the cost of a new blade was substantial, and could only be got from abroad with a long delay. I did have a taper blade, bought at the same time, which I had never used, but I could not figure out how this fixed to the clippers. Maybe it was not the right fitting, but I just could not get it to fit. It made me nervous about buying a replacement blade only to find it did not fit. I decided to cut my losses and just buy a whole new clipper. Hence this latest purchase. I was a bit disappointed to learn the country from which this came – which, as far as I can see, is not disclosed anywhere in the product description or specification. All the evidence suggests that it is coming from the UK even though it was clear that you had to wait a long time for it to be delivered. Had I known its origin, I would have looked elsewhere as I boycott products from the country in question but, once received, there was not anything I could do about that. Now I have only used it once so far, but I found it to be just as efficient and effective and quick in cutting my hair. The fact that it is cordless is the main key to this, I think. It does make doing your own hair much easier. That’s why I went for the same brand despite the previous item not actually lasting me very long. But also the blade seems much sharper and it glides through the hair much more effectively than did the Wahl. Whilst waiting for the new clipper to arrive, I had to use the old Wahl which I still had. It just did not cut as well. This despite the fact that a hairdresser friend of mine always uses Wahl - and cheaper ones than the one I have. It was a relief to get the new Panasonic clipper and find how much better it was. I would strongly recommend it. I have two complaints, both pretty minor. The first I complained about on the previous model I had and that is that the on/off switch, which, in my view, in a bad position and still now, after over two years of use of the same on/off switch location, I find myself hitting it accidentally and turning it on or off at wrong times. It’s not a big problem but I really wish the on/off switch was either firmer or positioned differently. On my old Wahl it was on the side and a mechanical switch rather than a micro switch. My second minor complaint is applicable only to this new model. The combs are dual-sided and they are named by cutting size rather than the standard number 1, number 2 etc. So, the 3mm and 4mm, which I take to be numbers 1 and 2, are actually on the same moulded comb, and to switch you have to reverse it. I got this wrong at first. I used the 4mm for the sides and I did think not a lot was coming off. I then switched it to do the top, which I normally do with a number 2 only to find a lot was coming off. I had got the combs the wrong way round. So now I have a shorter than usual cut – but I shall only make this mistake once. I do not like the idea of dual combs and, moreover, I did find the comb a bit tricky to fit compared to the previous Panasonic. It is early days, but, overall, I am happy and I hope it lasts a bit longer than my first one.

I am not happy with this product, not only with the product though, the customer service is rubbish as well.. The blade gets full way too fast, if you don't clean it starts getting hot and being too loud. I am a professional barber and can't afford cleaning it every 30-40 minutes. When I contacted the Customer service they told me that can't help and that I need to clean it after each use... Rubbish... They advertise it as a professional product, but you can't really use it that way... very, very unhappy...

I really recommend this amazing product since it’s lighter and the cutting performance is superb. It should be professional level.

Great cut, good quality fast and easy to use

I feel like I've finally got the hair clipper I need. I have tried several other makes and models and none were great. This is great. Pricey, though. I think you get what you pay for.

Went from a beard trimmer to this nice tool to cut my hair. Great product, worth the price.

I love my Panasonic hair clippers. It is light weight compared to the older solid metal clippers. It comes with three clipper guards to aide in designing the perfect fade and has a recharger so you can move around freely when clipping hair. I have owned my present pair for 2-3 years and have never yet had to replace the blade. Just keep them clean and don’t over lube them and they will last for years.
