YINMIK PH Meter, Digital 4 in 1 PH EC TDS Temp Meter for Water Hydroponics

I have a nice sized home hydroponic garden. It keeps me busy testing nutrients and staying in my scheduled nutrient changes. I’m 81 years old and have soil gardens my whole adult life. I’ve wanted to try hydroponics so this last winter I started a Dutch bucket garden. Main idea was to get a head start on moving it outside in sunlight in May. All has gone well but the necessary maintenance of the nutrients PH and EC and the two week change outs have kept me busier than I’d expected. I’ve purchased several different meters to gauge these levels only to be disappointed by the amount of time it was taking and the variety of results. Then I found YINMIK PH Meter, Digital 4 in 1 PH EC TDS Temp Meter for Water Hydroponics. This is the finest, easiest, most accurate meter of all that I have purchased. Easy to Calibrate

I have had to replace it already it went out of calibration & won't recalibrate again. I tried the recalibrate powder but it wouldn't do the 4.o cal. Did 7,&10.so i looked for a replacement prob tip but what I found was only $5.00 cheaper than a new meter so I purchased a new meter! Meter is fine when it's working right.

Great reliable ph meter for checking mash ph with home brewing. It is easy to calibrate and holds calibration. The temperature feature is nice and for the price I haven't used a better meter. I would pay double, highly recommend this meter.

I have extensive experience using PH meters by Hanna and Milwaukee in the garden and in hydroponic applications. Those brands work extremely well and once calibrated, they remain accurate for more than a week, with little deviation. I routinely calibrate them every 4-7 days depending on use. I trust them implicitly. So, fast forward to my first current-powered Swimex Lap Pool. Due to the requirement for several different water chemistry variables to be monitored regularly, I initially used a chemical test kit that uses drops that react to water samples and produces a color that is compared to a scale. These are tedious and marginally inaccurate (especially for free chlorine and total chlorine). Since they require chemicals in droppers, kits must be repurchased as supplies are used up. Next, I tried strips, which I found more effective, but they also require replenishment over time. While shopping, I came across this YINMIK electronic water test meter. Electronic meters have worked terrific in other applications so, I decided (with help from reviews) to purchase the unit in hopes it would deliver accuracy without requiring chemical supplies or media. No disrespect to other reviewers that claim reliable results with this wand, but I found this item to be useless and extremely inaccurate. I never had the opportunity to really verify salt, chlorine and other values because the most basic feature, PH, was completely UNRELIABLE. All other chemistry that can be tested with this wand are predicated on PH and, thus, unreliable PH makes all other readings suspect. When I recieved the meter, I calibrated it using the included 4.0, 7.0 and 10.0 benchmark PH solutions. I also rinsed and dried the probe, between each calibration point, using distilled and deionised water which experience has proven to be a stable cleaning solution, unlikely to cause unwanted probe reactions or migrate the scale. With calibration complete, I began sampling the pool. Ahead of use, it was already known water was slightly acidic -a need to balance PH up. Meter displayed a reasonable result and PH-up was added to adjust. After water circulation for an hour, another test was made which showed minimal increase and further adjustment was made. This was repeated 5 times over 5 hours. After the fifth test, I began to wonder about accuracy. Water PH had increased only .3 units while PH-up directions suggested water should now be about 7.4 for the quantity of chemical introduced per pool volume. I became suspicious. Originally at 6.7, water PH had only risen to 7.0-7.1 value. I then checked PH using the chemical drop test kit. When I compared the colored sample to the scale, it read 7.4. I was out of strips and immediately drove to Ace for a supply. Further cross-checking with strips, I found PH to be 7.4-7.5, rather than the probe’s 7.1 reading. I went back and recalibrated the wand, as before. Pool was then checked and reading found to be 7.0-7.1 PH. It remained incorrect even after a second calibration. Next, I calibrated it again. Each calibration point registered spot-on with each solution during the calibration function. After using the 10.0 reference solution for the third point, completing calibration, I then rinsed and dried probe. I then inserted probe in the 7.0 reference solution and took a reading. It should read 7.0 PH. It displayed 6.8 PH!!! I repeated this experiment 3x: full 3 point calibration with probe rinse/dry between each calibration point and finally cross-checking by reading the 7.0 reference solution. Every single time the meter read 6.8 PH. This item is not accurate or reliable and is not recommended for use. I boxed the item and performed an Amazon return. Do not buy this. If I had followed it blindly, I would have ended with a pool now adjusted to a more alkaline PH, without knowing, resulting in further inaccuracy when chlorine readings would be taken. The potential of upending your pool or hot tob chemistry by using this item is all that is guaranteed. The foundation for virtually all water chemistry values is PH. The fact that this unit cannot accurately read PH makes it useless for any water monitoring.

When I first used this meter I of course calibrated it. It held the calibration for about a week then the readings went wild...oh no. So, I calibrated it again and it has been consistent ever since. I routinely verify its reading with another (way more expensive) meter and some paper pH test strips and this YINMIK is spot on. I like it especially for the price. It is my 'daily driver'.

I was in the market for a decent pH/PPM Meter that wouldn't break the bank. A few people recommended this one, and most the reviews I read here were good so I went for it. Shipping was quick and the meter came with good instructions and buffer solution. I was able to calibrate with no issues. The protective cap has a protective sponge that is to be kept moist per the instructions, and you're instructed to add a little pure water to the sponge if it dries. The manual also states water droplets are added during production to maintain moisture of the probe. Since receiving and using the meter, I had no issues with the sponge drying out. I followed all instructions that were provided to, and since I've used a similar meter in the past I was comfortable when using. About 2 weeks after using the meter, I removed the protective cap, only to see the sponge was covered in what looked like white mold. The probe itself was also moldy. I carefully cleaned the probe and cap, but with each use, the problem continued getting worse. I reached out to the email provided in the manual as I was unable to reach out via Amazon. Response was quick, as follows : "We are sorry to hear that the sponge is moldy. As the weather temperature rises, no preservatives are added to the sponges, causing the sponges to become moldy. Please clean the electrode tip with a cotton swab or brush, and use tweezers to pull out the sponge. This is a newly upgraded electrode, even without a sponge, it will not affect the pH reading". I did question removing the sponge, but I was assured it would be OK. I very carefully cleaned the electrode like Lucia told me to. For the time being, it seems to be working just fine, but I'm nervous that it will malfunction. I'll update my review if anything changes.

I have no complaints about this, it works perfectly every time. I love all the different readings it gives even though I only bought it for the pH. The moisture meter is great too.

Followed instructions exactly. Tried 20 times. You’re supposed to turn on unit, place it in 7 ph calibration solution, let it settle and then hold cal button for 5 seconds. That’s supposed to enter calibration mode. Tried holding everywhere from 2 seconds to 30 seconds. No matter what it won’t calibrate making it useless. Unless the seller can fix this I’ll be sending it back. Waste of money and most importantly time.

Honestly, if you're on a tight budget, it's PH meter as s*** garbage and drifts, it doesn't go back to calibration, like your dip in a calibration solution.What is the 7.7?And then it reads it out at a f****** 7.1, like.Honestly, this s***'s garbage do not buy it.It's from china china china disclo
