Completely Ruined My Washing Machine!!!
PLEASE THINK TWICE BEFORE USING THIS IF IT IS THE FIRST TIME YOU’VE USED IT!!!!! I used this in my front loader to dye a faded black jacket. It did the job brilliantly! BUT and it is a huge BUT, it has completely ruined my machine! I followed the instructions to the letter and there was still copious quantities of black dye in the machine. Have subsequently done 8 washes at 90 degrees, using bleach, detergent, professional machine cleaner and even a dishwasher tablet. Every wash is still producing black flecks of dye and not just small amounts, I cannot wash white or light items at all without ruining them. I have contacted Dylon and their parent company Henkel. I am truly disgusted and disappointed!

Disappointing result and mis-selling of additional product (dye salt)
I was very disappointed with this product. I had hoped to buy the Dylon dye that used to be in the small cuboid box, but is appears to have been replaced by this. I dyed a lightweight unlined, 100% cotton jacket that was a dark khaki using the Velvet Black. I followed the instructions precisely. The result was a dirty, faded looking dark grey-khaki. At the moment, the jacket isn't wearable and as it was M&S Autograph, I am very upset about this. I just wanted it to be black :-( I now have a choice of dying it again, maybe using the Intense Black or throwing it away. With the cost of the dye, plus three wash cycles, it is costing a fortune. Also, when I purchased it, Amazon did the usual selling technique of including 'Frequently purchased together' with an image of the dye plus dye salt (which I always used with the traditional machine dye in the little box), so I purchased both. It was annoying to find that salt is already included in the product (the same is the case with the new pods). Why encourage buyers to add an additional product that isn't needed?

Don't do it, let my tale be a warning.
Firstly, yes it dyed my jeans nicely. 1 packet for two pairs gave a nice dark colour, i have not yet had the next wash which im sure will be hell with the dye, please read on to see why. Do not use this if you have a front loader. Modern washing machines do not fill with water anymore meaning that even on a machine clean setting its not going to get the dye out of your rubber seal. Ive done countless run through and still getting a grey colour-catcher sheet after two days of it. Have attacked it with bleach, scrubbed every inch of the seal and now letting washer soak on paused rinse, hoping this is the end. Also it has totally stained my rubber seal, the bit you can always see. DO NOT DO IT! 19/02 Update: the dye comes out loads in the wash, it's like ive not dyed any of my jeans. It transfers, my work chair had dye spots on. I still have remnants of dye in my machine DRUM, its all around it, it must have got past the rubber seal and is now sitting on the outside rim of the drum. Just dont do it. Not worth it.

Wrecks the next dozen washes
Pros: it does a good job of dying faded jeans/cargo trous Cons. It does a good job of dying everything that follows regardless of how scrupulously you follow the instructions and clean out the washing machine afterward. I washed black clothes for the next 4 washes then did a dark but not black, that went ok, then my Mrs washed some of her summery stuff. Now I'm having to throw chocolate at her and promise to buy her new clothes. Kinda defeats the object of dying two pairs of old jeans in the first place, if I got to replace a friggin wardrobe now. Pro: Mrs gets new clothes which helps because of all the chocolate I had to feed her to stop her from killing me in my sleep. My advice, in spite of not wanting to destroy the planet by revamping old stuff, it really isnt worth the ballache

The look a lot better. However
Do NOT put this product in your washing machine! I added the packet in my machine to recolour some faded black trousers. The look a lot better. However, the Dylan wash has ruined my machine and then every white / light wash has turned grey. I have cleaned the interior and removed the rubber rim and cleaned thoroughly but it is still turning any white product grey. I guess the black cystals must be within the water and drainage pipes. I have turned my black trousers black but have a bill of £100 for a new white top of my girlfriends and approx £400 for a new machine. I wish I had just replaced the black trousers with a new pair.. Trust me, do not ruin your washing machine with this product or anything similar I would suggest.

It doesn't really work well on synthetic fabrics
I have used this brand to dye tops and things like that. In the past. And I intend to buy it in the future, I know already that it works well on cotton and things like that! The packaging does say it's faded but the result I had on a polyester fabric wasn't just faded it was barely even noticeable. If you're looking to dye polyester then I'd recommend a dye specifically created for synthetics. It gets a one star in this case. Because it was quite frankly a waste of money.

ruined washing machine
I purchased your velvet black dye for the washing machine a couple of weeks ago. I followed the instructions on the package, and even ran the washing machine multiple more times than was advised to clean it out. However, after multiple more washes the dye is still stuck in my front loading washing machine and has ruined my white sheets and towels. I have tried bleach, soda crystals and running the machine on a long wash with just water and my clothes are still coming out stained. I am very disappointed with this product and now have to purchase more towels and sheets (which were not cheap by any means). I will not be washing my jeans in the machine from now on to ensure it does not get any more left over dye from my jeans in it. I wouldn't purchase the product again either.

Do not use!
Bought this to refresh 2 black shirts and followed instructions for washing machine. Dye worked well however, even after numerous intensive washes and cleaning the black dye is still lodged in the rubber of the door seal and is staining my linens. How the manufacturer can say this is specifically for use in a machine is beyond me. I have a Zanussi front loading machine which I fear will never be the same again! It would have been cheaper to buy new clothes.

Works perfectly!
I have a discoloured chair cushion cover, and I hate the look of it. I bought this product to bring the colour back to life, and it worked like a charm. Very happy with the result.
