I have a laptop with only one HDMI port but wanted to run two full size monitors. My other monitor is VGA so this USB A to VGA adapter looked like it could help. I felt I was taking a risk paying £24 for it but previous cheaper adapters have been useless so I felt it was worth paying for quality. I downloaded the driver as advised and put the adapter in the USB A slot, connecting the VGA cable. It works without any problem or issue. Picture quality is good (it's a VGA monitor so I don't expect 4K) and its a perfect solution. If you want to run two full sized montors off a laptop this is an ideal solution, and StarTech offer various combinations. In fact my new work laptop only has USB C ports so I am thinking of getting the StarTech USB C to dual HDMI splitter which will run two monitors in extended mode off one USB C port - amazing!

Works as expected, on my laptop this allows me to connect another screen to extend my desktop onto. So I have 2 screens plus my laptop screen working independently.

Absolutely excellent. Stayed connected to the Internet, while plugged it to my laptop (Lenovo Yoga 13, Win 8.1) and connected to an external projector, and the drivers installed automatically. Reboot and ready! The whole procedure took me 3 minutes.. 5 stars!

Does the job perfectly. Very easy to set-up and adds an extra screen to your laptop/desktop with ease.

I bought this for a MAC. Some of the questions indicated it would work with the DisplayLInk Driver but despite ongoing support from them I never got it to work. The Item was returned.

I tried a cheap HDMI to VGA converter but it didn't work at all. This was a bit more expensive but because it's essentially just an external graphics card it can handle any aspect ratio or resolution. It uses onboard memory though so if your laptop is lacking in that department it might struggle a bit with video. Having said that, I didn't experience any problems. You can have as many of these plugged in as your computer memory can handle and run duplicate or extended monitor displays. Worth the extra cash as cheaper HDMI to VGA converters can handle a very limited number of resolutions. Top marks!

Took a bit of connecting/disconnecting for it to work with another external monitor on a laptop, but works well. Runs fine at 1280x1024

Tengo un día probándolo continuamente y no he observado ninguna falla, parpadeos de pantalla o algo así. Lo estoy usando en un puerto USB 3.0 (el dispositivo también funciona en USB 2.0) y aunque la laptop no cumple los requisitos recomendados (procesador core i5 o equivalente) la verdad es que el dispositivo está funcionando bastante bien. Funciona como una tarjeta de video externa. Tienes que instalar los drivers o controladores primero, antes de conectar el dispositivo en la computadora. El instructivo que trae es claro aunque solo en inglés.

I still have an old PC running Windows XP. I wanted to add a 2nd monitor via USB. A USB to VGA adapter is needed to do this. I tried two other products before this one. Both claimed to work with Windows XP. Both were dirt cheap and I gave them a try. Neither worked and the reason is you need drivers for this to work on XP. The first product said to download a driver but didnt' say where to get it. The second one had a driver but it didn't work. I finally bought this product. It came with proper drivers. First I loaded the driver and then attached to 2nd monitor via the adapter cable. After rebooting my PC, the 2nd monitor came up and worked. I had to make a couple of tweaks in the video settings. The first was to extend my screen to the new monitor. The second was to flip the order of the monitors which were reversed (Monitor 1 was on the right and Monitor 2 was on the left). I told windows to flip it and then it worked great. This was a great solution that worked for my older system when two other products wouldn't. NOTE: if you're running Window 10, you can probably use almost any product. But if you're still running Windows XP, SP 2, just get this product.

Homeoffice schön und gut, aber arbeiten mit einem Monitor am Laptop ist anstrengend. Nach Rücksprache mit meiner Firma könnte ich einen zweiten Monitor bekommen, aber dafür fehlt ein zweiter VGA Anschluss. Ich hatte mit paar unterschiedlichen HDMI Adaptern Probleme, also habe ich diesen USB zu VGA Adapter im WHD erworben. Nach dem Anschluss wurde der Adapter nach etwa 10 Sekunden von Windows 10 erkannt. Ich habe meinen Monitor vom VGA-Anschluss des Laptops an diesen Adapter angeschlossen und Ausgang war sofort sichtbar. Auch die Auflösung und Bildwiederholrate wurde gut erkannt. In der Summe bin ich mit diesem Adapter zufrieden und hoffentlich bekomme ich demnächst den zweiten Monitor.

少し熱くなりますが、画質も普通で実用になります。以前同じようなもので１０００円未満の安いものを購入したことがありますいが、画質が悪くて使い物になりませんでした。
