Amazing sounding headphones
I wanted a fun cheaper end headphone to add to my collection. I see a lot of discussion about the EU or china made ones but thankfully my set are made in the EU. Currently also own the Audeze LCD X & Sennheiser HD 700 and running the Zen Stack for dac/amplification Build: They feel like a cheap toy to be honest however for the price I cant fault it too much, the pads are very comfortable and my ears fit nicely without any touching into the pads. The strap on the top does touch the top of my head and was a little annoying at first however I have gotten used to it and overall I am pleased with how they sit on my head. Sound: They are a very well rounded headphone, everything just fits together very cohesively without even an EQ applied. The soundstage is very impressive and you can hear notes extend very wide, they rival my Sennheiser HD 700 in terms of soundstage. However it isn't as good when the music is going left to right very quickly but they do the job. The midrange is very pleasant and vocals are very clear, I actually much prefer vocals on these than the HD 700's. There is just a right amount of bass I feel with these cans, I do have the Xbass button on the Zen Cans so they do help bring up the bass as some have noted its very light however with the Xbass its more than adequate. Some tracks had a very bright highs and I had to turn the volume down however this was only for certain tracks like "More bounce to the ounce". Overall: Very pleased with the sound. very enjoyable and fun to listen to especially for the price and gives me a good alternative to listen to. I had the Beyerdynamic DT 1990 pro's and I remember hating them but the AKG K712's are a great all round headphone. The biggest knock against them is the build however the sound/comfort are more important in my mind.

What an excellent pair of open back headphones these are !
This is not a long winded audiophile type review. They are simply an excellent all-round studio quality, very accurate monitoring standard headphone. They are no where near as warm as an equivalent Sennheiser if you are leaning toward a sound that to some feels more 'musical' They are also not going to give you the urge to have a rest after a couple of hours that a Beyer Dynamic would need as the treble frequencies are not pushed upon you as a pair of DT-880 or 990's might. After a little bit of 'bedding in' they have become one of the best open headphones I have heard before you need to spend double the price to hear much of an improvement over these. They also make gaming feel that much more enjoyable for anything with a great soundtrack or where you need to pick out sounds to help with your game progress. They have an excellent open soundstage that helps in every game type where the audio is a big part of the enjoyment. They will work happily being driven by a mobile device if you wanted or even on-board audio for a PC or a laptop. I would imagine most people purchasing these would be using an external DAC and a headphone amplifier to get the very best out of them as I have. Anyone making an remarks about the build quality must be totally mistreating them. They are certainly not a pair of 'DJ' headphones you are going to sling in a box with piles of cables and other equipment and treat as though they are 'industrial'. Very light on the head and the leather headband needed a little flexing to make it a bit more supple before long term use. Overall these are highly recommended.

The best headphones I have owned - 2 year update!
If you looking small stylish big bass headphone, these are not for you. They are cyberman large but just supper comfortable. Open back gives room scale sound and I hear so much more than I every had in the past. Plenty reviews out there prising these and they lived up to expectations. Edit: I have had these for some time now and I thought it worth updating this review. The main reason being the time it take to bed these headphones in to get the best performance from the drivers. The above review was written at around the 40 hour mark, a fair time to hear the best they had to offer I thought. But I was wrong. It is only after 100+ hours that these headphone truly come into their own. Both the highs and lows just continue to improve. I can not recommend these highly enough. Edit 2: I've been using these headphones as my main drivers every day for well over 2 years now. I was doing a bit of mastering this week and switching between different speakers and head phones. I have recently added some KRK Rokit G4's to my speaker sets. Even though both the AKG 712's and the KRK G4's sell them selves as flat neutral monitor / studio devices they both know to have a "sound". This makes them nicer for general usage but has its down sides in the studio. But switching between the two they have an identical sound to my ears. So for those wondering if these are right for them, If you like the KRK sound you will really like these and if using these to master with, treat them in the same why you would treat a pair of KRK speakers and use a lot of extra reference sources. Still my very favourite headphones with the only down side being the need for 50+ hours running in required to get the best out of them. If I ever need to replace I would run them two days straight on the stand before ever putting them on my head. 10/10

Amazing
So ive been using Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro's (250 ohm) using a few different amps, the DT990s are superb for the money. Ive just bought the AKG K712PRO's and WOW, they sound even better than my DT990s'. Im hearing far more detail in all the songs albums ive listen to for years, clearer guitar and very prominent bass drum sounds. The Bass is lacking a tad compared to the DT990's but that can be solved by using a amp /Dac or PC high end sound card. Now you may think being only 62ohms that they are easy to drive, they are not and a amp/dac is a must imo. They are so comfortable to wear so nothing to worry about there. Im very happy with the AKG K712Pros and would recommend them to anyone looking for that extra quality, they are definitely on the audiophile chart for me.

K712 Vs K812
I recently bought both the AKG K712 and the AKG K812 so have put a review comparing the experience under both. 30 years ago, I bought a set of AKG’s – the K280. These are called parabolic and have two speaker coils in each ear. Always liked these but I decided to treat myself as technology has moved on a bit since then. I am in my 60’s so ears not so good. Kit is an Arcam rHead, iRdac II, A39, CD37, Heybrook TT2 deck. Various music both CD and vinyl. I got the K712’s first. The sound was definitely an improvement on the K280, but not the upgrade I expected. Also, not too keen on the pads – like a foam material that could damage easily. They fit well and are comfortable so I could wear these all day. The sound was engaging - good soundstage and separation of instruments, and bass was much better than I thought it would be. Much much better than the usual headphones with funky names that people wear on the train! I would say these are a good HiFi set of cans for ‘serious’ listening. However I wasn’t totally blown away with these so looking higher up the tree I decided to get a pair of K812’s that Amazon had as open boxed for £520. If the reviews were right then this would be the upgrade I wanted, and I have 30 days to send the K712’s back. So, the K812’s turned up and the box looked tatty, the headphone pads looked a bit ‘second hand’ so I took pictures just in case I went them back and they thought I had misused them! Now came a couple of days using both sets with the rHead; which has two headphone sockets so comparing between the two was easier. First thing I noticed was the K812’s sound louder 36 Ohms vs 62 Ohms for the K712 means they will. That makes comparisons difficult so I figured where on the rHead volume control gave the same level then went at it again. How difficult it is to compare the two. Old ears and the fact that the hearing plays tricks unless you are in exactly the same headspace and playing exactly the same music! I have had to spend hours drinking just enough red while listening to loads of newish music and my old sounds (Floyd, stones etc). I can’t give a scientific analysis but the K812’s wins out in every piece of music – not by a huge amount but the difference, if you can afford it, is worth it. The subtleties that are in music seemed effortless (or should I say more noticeable / clearer) with the K812’s. The rHead is a fantastic class ‘A’ headphone amp that lets me hook the CD or the turntable straight up – with the AKG’s it is perfect. Be aware though a couple of times I thought the coils might be off but it was simply flaws in the recordings. Once I knew what to listen out for the flaws showed up in other headphones on cheaper amps as well, just not so clearly. I am delighted I can still appreciate good headphones at my age, I know the frequency range my ears are good for has dropped, but the frequencies I can hear are well served by both of these headphones. The K812’s does a better job (for a bigger price) so I am going to send the K712’s back but that is only because I am in the happy position to afford the K812's

Review of AKG K712PRO - Very detailed. Wide soundstage.
I've a few pairs of headphones and several IEMs and spend a large portion of my listening this way rather than over the speakers. I use the headphone amp in the Cambridge audio dacmagic plus to listen to computer/HiRes disgital and the headphone output from the Linn Majik for CD and vinyl. For comparison I used the Sennheiser HD600s and Momentum. Firstly let them burn in, they're a bit shouty when you put them on, and the high end is very harsh, almost uncomfortable. After a few days they'll have settled down and you can give them a spin through your collection. What I found was pretty much what every review has said, these cans are detailed, very detailed. The soundstage is wider than the HD600s and this seems to make the placement of indiviual elements much clearer in the mix. I was treated to that "extra, never heard before" moment a few times, and this was on albums I've very familiar with, a guitar line I'd never heard before on Beck's "Mutations" album was clearly revealed. The only downside I found was they can be a little tiring for longer listening, and some HiRes stuff sounds too loud and way too crisp. For example Bowie's "Heroes" didn't sound great in 24-192 through these, it was much better with the HD600s or on CD or vinyl. The opposite was true for the Prince "Purple Rain Remastered" this was a real treat with the 712s. One suprising thing I found was how well they worked with music from my phone using a Cyrus Soundkey, they could be played painfully loud so no problems driving them as had been suggested. I would say they are a great option if you can't justify the cost of the HD600s, if I could only have one pair of headphones I'd be very happy with these.

K712 Pro
First off, these headphones are so comfortable you almost don't notice them if it wasn't for a little bit of warmth on the ears (not discomforting at all). The standard orange cable is a bit too long for my setup so I'm using the coiled cable which fits my needs perfectly. I was apprehensive about the bass not being enough after reading reviews on here but it sounds great. Not too much and not too little, it's a wonderful ear massage with enough thump to hit all the right spots. Detail.. you hear everything on a fantastic soundstage, some songs feel new with the detail picked up through these headphones. The ear bleeding treble people have complained about is not present for me. It is definitely a little on the higher side but not troubling at all. An EQ fix is easy for a treble heavy song and won't lead to any distortion or imbalance. The best part about these "power hungry" headphones is that I'm able to plug them into my laptop, an EVOC P870TM1-G (Clevo based) running an ESS Sabre HiFi DAC (Realtek ALC898), without any problems. Between 35%-40% volume I'd say is where it starts getting a bit loud in my opinion but while watching YouTube videos and such I stay between 20%-30%. Games sound great, directional sounds in Battlefield 5 is fantastic making tracking easy. Overall I'm glad that I bought this pair of headphones, with a Modmic 5 it's a perfect gaming headset with amazing audio.

Impressive
Wanting a pair of comfortable, neutral, open backed pair of headphones, all the others I own all have flaws in one or more areas. AKG K141 mkII, AKG K92, Gadro SR 80e, Sennheiser HD559 and assorted other cans Apple, Dr Beats, etc. So not having unlimited budget for a pair of Stax's, I plumped for the AKG K712 Pro. These are an impressive sounding pair of open-back over-ear headphones, and are a major improvement over the others I own. They have a wonderfully open, transparent and spacious sound, a very good bass, a great mid range and treble and low distortion, and very wide sound stage, great for gaming. Easily driven, but adding an amp improved matters a lot, sources are laptop, iPhone, CD player. These are incredibly comfortable headphones. The leather headband doesn't put too much pressure on my head. The large ear cups easily fit around my ears, but may be too large for some. They deliver a comfortable listening experience, I have used them for over six hours without issue but their bulky size may not be for everyone. However, like most other open-back headphones, they leak sound, so I will be keeping others cans for travel.

Buenos para uso interior. Rango de frec. amplio (10 - 39800 Hz). Para uso interior y con ampli.
Comprados hace aproximadamente 1 mes. Usados a diario. Me gusta: - Suenan bastante bien.

Very solid, 3 years strong
For the price these are a fantastic pair of headphones. Whether you just like listening to music whilst you play games or study, the open-back aspect, the lightness, soft ear muffs and leather makes it feel very comfortable and you can wear them for hours on end without getting sweaty or a headache. Open-backs make it feel a lot more spacious, almost as if you aren't even wearing the headphones, granted you hear background noise but for some depending on where you are it might be a desirable feature. Pair the headphones with a decent AMP or DAC and you will certainly get some banging tunes/audio quality. Personally I have the Topping L30 paired with a D50s and it goes very well with the headphones. So far after 3 years of ownership no dramas, I've dropped them several times and nothing has snapped or broken. All the components have shown barely any signs of wear and tear which is credit to the good quality materials used for the leather and other components. Pros: - Head strap is very flexible and automatically adjusts to your head size making it super easy for anyone to wear them - Ear Muffs easily come off with a twist and pull - Open Back - Super comfortable for long hours of wearing Cons: - MiniXLR adapter (not a common cable) I had to buy a replacement for $50 - You will accidentally forget that you are wearing them because of how soft they are :)

An excellent introduction into high end headphones.
There are plenty of reviews raving about these and I have to back them up. These are insane headphones. For the cost, they better be fantastic, and thankfully they are on all fronts. I've been using these for a few months now and while they're not perfect for every situation, for what they're built for they're unbeatable. First, and most important, sound quality. These are absolutely outstanding as you'd hope. Everything I've played through these sounds incredible; classic R&B, 60s jazz, lo-fi indie rock, pummeling death metal, and booming hip-hop all sound stellar. The soundstage on these make it feel like you're not even wearing headphones in a quiet room; I've heard it described as "VR for your ears," and that's an accurate statement. On live recordings like John Denver's "An Evening With John Denver," you can point to where individual instruments are situated, and on Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry" on the Live At The Roxy album, it feels like you're in the front row with the entire crowd around you. It's really hard to describe just how good these sound without hearing them for yourself. They're a little more exciting than your standard studio monitor headphones that go for completely flat frequency responses, but for general music listening that isn't a bad thing at all. Second, comfort. These are decently heavy and bulky headphones, but they don't feel like it. Suspension style headbands like AKG tends to favor are my favorite, and it's on full display here. The leather headband just disappears as you put these on, and the wide swivel means these will fit basically anyone with little issue. The earpads on here are insanely comfortable and thanks to the large driver size, my decently big ears can comfortably sit inside without touching anywhere on them. They're also deep enough that you have a decent distance from the speaker, something that isn't true of some of my other headphones such as Audio Technica M40Xs or even my other AKGs, the K240s. The build quality on these also feels great. They're all plastic which is a downside to some, but plastic quality does vary, and these are definitely made of quality materials. I've seen reports of the suspension system wearing down and breaking with heavy use, and if that happens I'll update this review, but it feels very secure as of now and everything has a great finish. I especially appreciate the ability to remove the cable as well as providing two different sized cables for different use cases. With all these positives though, don't buy these expecting to use them on a train or a bus. Not only are they difficult to drive off of a phone thanks to their relatively low sensitivity, they're completely open so they leak all the sound out with little to no isolation. These aren't commuter headphones (for those I would recommend AKG's own K371s or any of the multitude of fantastic IEMs out of China that have been dubbed Chi-Fi), they're for home listening and they excel at it. To be clear, they aren't exceedingly hard to drive, but you might be disappointed at the volume out of a phone or laptop depending on what you're using. I'm usually using these out of a Sony STR-DH190 stereo amplifier and that provides plenty of power. When I'm at home and I really want to just listen to music, these are what I'm going for 99% of the time. Depending on the genre I might reach for my Grado SR60x's just for the extra high end, but these are the best all around. $300+ is a lot of money for a pair of headphones, but if music is really important to you and you can afford it, these are worth the spend. If you want to explore cheaper options, there are plenty in the $50-120 range that will give 70-90% of the sound, such as the SHP9500 from Phillips even the cheaper planar options from Hifiman. But having heard them before, the AKG K712s are still insanely good, and I'll keep using them for as long as possible.
